  1. Excellent read and info., I've been warming to Joe Mauer as a HOFer since he retired. Reflection is a powerful teacher.
  2. I can't see the Twins trading Ryan or Ober. Starting pitchers don't grow on trees, injuries happen, and you've got to have pitching depth. I'd rather move a prospect like Lee or Rodriguez, along with maybe Larnach, and some other pieces that are not starting pitchers.
  3. Kody seems like a good kid to cheer for, very nice write-up Seth. I enjoyed the behind-the-scenes details.
  4. We splurged as a family with some friends with pretty good seats along first base/rightfield, ate at Truely on Deck, and with parking was less than $250 for the six of us. When I go with just one other person and sit in the cheap seats (and usually move up to better seats), bring some sunflower seed or peanuts & bottles of water, it's under $50.
  5. I remember Ramirez being with us once, but not twice. Thanks for filling in the details.
  6. Ah' yes, the Henry Blanco years...er I mean year. Have glove will travel.
  7. One of those baseball anomolies: a right handed reliever who never has overwhelming stuff, has a high walk rate, doesn't strikeout too many, gives up fewer hits than innings pitched, has a high ERA, and yet somehow manages a 12 year career.
  8. Okay, I thought you were making this one up for a minute...but here is the stat line for Justin Huber. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/h/huberju01.shtml It goes to show you that if you miss the MLB transactions for even one day, you can miss someone who played for your favorite team. Excellent detective work TD.
  9. Same old, same old cheap Pohlads talk. It gets old really fast. They are just saying what we all already know out loud. And they have every right to move on from scouts from the old regime (Do we even know who they are? Were they good at their jobs? Were they even needed anymore?) Kind of hard to call them "cheap" if you can't answer those questions. As a fan, hopefully they are able to come up with some revenue from their broadcasts that comes even close to what they were making in previous years.
  10. I do not remember Darnell McDonald at all. Thanks for hitting my refresh button.
  11. I love the Remembering Random Twins segment, a nice addition to TD.
  12. Gee, I forgot all about Dillon.
  13. My vote for team MVP is the ever-versatile Willie Castro. He saved their bacon at multiple positions, multiple-times this season, and performed well.
  14. Outstanding! This really looks amazing and you've got some room to grow.
  15. #5 would be my first choice. Something about that bright white with the red and blue. I think an autographed 8X10 above or below the Fathead would accent it very nicely.
  16. Terrific article Melissa. I was at the game Friday night, and was anyone else left with a strange feeling after the final out? You had all the hype and excitement with the Johan Duran entrance, and I was hanging on every pitch, standing and cheering (the crowd was electric.) Then as the ninth stretched on to batter after batter (after batter), I found myself puffing up my cheeks and blowing it out through my lips like Twins reliever Joe Nathan used to do as the go ahead run came up to the plate. By the time Julian's throw found Karilloff's glove for the final out, I was ecstatic, but with a touch of throw-up in the back of my throat with the way the game ended. We hung around for 20-30 minutes after game, with everyone lingering around the stands, like a typical Minnesota goodbye, slowly gravitating towards the field, and then back up to the concourse. But the feeling remainded for most of the drive home...joy in our the Minnesota Twins winning the AL Central, but a bad aftertaste with the way the ninth inning unfolded. I look forward to a first series victory to wash out that taste.
  17. Martin offers more flexibility by playing multiple positions (IN & OF) while Celestino is an outfielder only. Both battled injuries this year, played about the same number of games, with Martin putting up better overall numbers. Austin Martin is also considered to have a much higher ceiling.
  18. Congratulations to the Cedar Rapids Kernels on their Midwest League Championship! Loved watching them play ball this summer.
  19. Hats off to the Cadar Rapids Kernels for winning the Midwest Division title. Best of luck in the championship series, go get em'!
  20. Tough/ugly game to watch at the end. Reminded me of what Billy Beane said in Moneyball, "You rather get a bullet to the head or five to the chest and bleed to death?" With Saturday's game, it was the latter.
  21. Thank you Mark, good to know about the cameras, and very nice to meet you as well. I would love to do an article on the host families and plan on talking to some team officials too. If you'd be interested and have a few minutes some time, shoto me a message.
  22. During the St. Paul Saints game I saw that used the robo umps, it was the smoothest game I can remember seeing. Not one batter, looked back at the umpire after a pitch, and there was no chirping from the dugouts about any called pitch. None. No bitching, whining, or crying. The game just moved smoothly along. Removing the silly box doesn't solve the problem...it ignores it.
  23. Thank you, always looking for recommendations for a good place to eat.
