  1. Great piece Cody. Officially downgraded my My Twins season ticket holder status from Choice (my 20 game package for the past 15 years) to the free Starter status. I get some of the moves, but the Varland trade especially had me shaking my head. I no longer trust Falvey and certainly not the Pohlads.
  2. The "Correa wanting to play 3rd base" is news to me, although it's not new news in that I believe when he was thought to be going to the Mets a few years back, it was to play the hot corner. My guess is the Twins couldn't move Correa to third because Royce Lewis did not want to play second base? I like the salary dump because I feel Correa's next three seasons of his contract are going to be underwhelming, just like this year. I'm glad that mutual ground could be found for the trade.
  3. It was unbelievable to watch the last hour of the trade deadline on the Twins Daily livestream with real the trades announced in "real time." The incredulous and shocked responses and reactions were amazing because no one predicted changes to this extent and to witness it all happening "live" was surreal and my head was and still is still spinning. I encourage you to watch the video and see/hear the reactions for yourself. Amazing. Wowzers TD...well done.
  4. "The Mahle trade didn’t work out for either side in hindsight." Really? Spencer Steer had 43 homers and 178 RBI in his first two seasons with the Reds. Toss in 71 doubles, 40 stolen bases and 148 runs scored and I would say Cincinnati made out like bandits in this trade with Minnesota and it's not even close. Jeepers.
  5. What a terrific stroll down memory lane. I feel Joe Niekro was another good veteran presence player brought aboard by Terry Ryan to young team ala Don Baylor who would be more of a factor in the 87 World Series.
  6. Great coverage, no one follows the Minnesota Twins minor leaguers better than TD.
  7. I'm reading a lot of talk about moving Royce Lewis to firstbase and how he's a team player, but didn't he initially balk in 2024 at even taking reps at secondbase in practice? I'm pretty sure I remember reading that he even spoke out about being against it. I think it would be a huge blow to his ego to move to firstbase. This may all be a mute point anyway if Lewis is not healthy enough to step between the lines, where I hope he can stay.
  8. A very nice honor for the kid. Saw him last year with the Kernels and he held his own, did not look overmatched. Culpepper is a good kid and I wish him the best.
  9. Great insights with these spotlights. Been following Fedko with the TD minor league reports and saw him play during his time with the Kernels, was hoping for a write up on his improved play this year. I think it's one of the biggest turnarounds in the Twins minor leagues so far this season.
  10. Really ryan189? Reporting on six games all going on pretty much simultaneously and your expectation is that every at bat of every game be watched (and then critiqued) in order to do a write up on the game? Adams gave up three runs on three hits and walked a couple of batters. If you were to ask Travis Adams I bet he would agree, "Travis Adams had seen better days on the mound." Maybe adding a comment that Adams may have had some tough luck during the game is one thing, but I think you went a little too far attacking the credibility of a TD writer over somethign so very petty. Thank you Matt Braun and the Twins Daily staff for providing the most thorough coverage of the Minnesota Twins minor league system. Keep up the good work.
  11. Very well written article. There are times when politics and sports cross one another's borders, and when that happens, I hope it can be done in the respectful, humane manner Cody did with this story. Trans rights are human rights. We're all part of the same race...the human race. As long as you're kind/respectful to others, it's frankly none of my business (or anyone elses) who you decide to marry, the gender you embrace, etc. People are people and kindness is free.
  12. This might be the funniest and saddest comment of the day, the part about "we sadly need Bride to pitch."
  13. To compound matters, the Minnesota Twins have little to no catching depth in the minor leagues. Jair Camargo is the only other catcher on the 40 man roster and he is on the 7 day DL for the St. Paul Saints. Mickey Gasper is listed an an infielder on the Twins 40 roster, but he has also caught a few games,,,that's it.
  14. You gotta have dreams, that's what the minor leagues are all about...good luck to the kid.
  15. Of all the pitchers mentioned, I've only seen Prielipp and Morris in person and came away with these observations. In his two starts I saw, Prielipp really caught my attention with the quality of stuff, that pop, his nasty slider, a lot of people mentioned his lack of innings pitched (a valid arguement along with the length of his starts), but what's hard to believe is that last season was his only complete season he pitched in college or the minors...since the 2020 COVID year...and he only tossed 23.1 innings in 2024. He's already surpassed that with a career best 31.2 this season. This kid is a real diamond in the rough IMO, albeit with the caveat "if he stays healthy" always next to his name unless proven elsewise (which it looks like he is certainly working on.) Prielipp is #1 on my list. Andrew Morris I've seen make three starts and while his stuff is not as eye-popping as the others, his final stat line always seems impressive with only 1 or 2 runs allowed in 5-6 innings, more Ks that IP, and very few walks. He's not over powering, but really seems to know how to pitch and use what he's got to give his team a chance to win, pretty much every start. Morris is not my #2, but I think his name needs to be included in the top 5 or so. He has the potential to fill out the end of a starting rotation. It's exciting to read about Soto, Hill, and the others; I'll be following on Twins Daily of course to see how they continue to develop.
  16. A win-win for both Buxton and the Minnesota Twins IMO.
  17. The four James Earl Jones baseball movies (without looking them up) are: -Field of Dreams -The Sandlot (and its lesser known sequel) and -The Bingo Long Traveling All Stars (also featuring Billy Dee Wiliams & Richard Pryor) My favorite scenes from The Sandlot 1. The boys taking in the chewing tabacco and then getting sick. I had a similar scene behind the dugout and trying and then swallowing some chewing tobacco before a game. Let that be a lesson kids. 2. When the boys start talking smack with some other kids with fancy uniforms and it ends with, "Well you throw like a girl." 3. Wendy Peffercorn...the pool scene with Squints The Sandlot makes my top ten all-time list of baseball movies.
  18. Winning a playoff series and then cutting payroll wasn't just a punch in the stomach, but actually a little bit lower. The Twins then hung Provus out to dry when he said, "No blackouts", although Cory owned that comment at their winter caravan stop this past winter.
  19. Excellent write-up, I really enjoy finding out "Where they are now?" when it comes to former players.
  20. Excited to see Keaschall get some at bats, good luck kid!
