    The more things change the more they stay the same.... Well this reaffirms my feelings in that "Impressed with Molitor" thread. Can't wait to hear him grumble about 13 pitchers after starting DanSan two days in a row....

    Honest question: Was the 13 man staff entirely thrust on Molitor, or are the Twins carrying 13 pitchers as a result of stubbornness from both the manger and the FO in regards to letting go of a pitcher they value differently? Also, what is with the not so subtle dig at Escobar? I'm content with him as the utility infielder.

    If you have a better option to platoon then I'm all for sitting a LHB vs a LHP. I wouldn't call Gimenez a better option. I would rather only see Sano at 1B but if Mauer has to sit with no other 1B on the roster then moving Sano to 1B and playing Escobar at 3B is a better lineup IMO.

    I haven't heard anybody write off his season. Its ok to be concerned that a guy who at one time was the top prospect in baseball and tore up every level of the minors leagues has struggled so much at the major league level. It isn't just the start of this season, it was almost all of last season and some of 2015 too. I'm still on that "be patient bandwagon," but I can't fault people for thinking about hopping off.

    If the Kepler day off is random then I'm fine with it. Same goes for Gimenez at 1B. If he is only there because Park and Vargas aren't around YET then fine. I do wonder why Mauer needs a day off after not playing on Monday though. It makes the Gimenez start seem more purposeful IMO

    Yeah Idk why Gimenez is playing 1B ever for this team. I don't care if Detroit is starting a lefty; Kepler shouldn't be sitting against lefties at this point, especially not if other option is Santana...

    I had the same question watching him so far this season. I was vocal about the Twins trying to mess with his leg action last season. I get that his K rate didn't really improve but his Sept. ABs looked much more comfortable. IMO you can learn to control the strike zone, Idk if you can ever "learn," to be comfortable. Hopefully this isn't a case of the team trying to push him back towards the toe tap. Whatever the reason for the poor PAs hopefully it turns around soon, I can be patient but its disheartening watching Buxton still struggle hitting.

    Two of the loudest complaints last season regarding Molitor were his unwillingness to stick with younger players, and his mismanagement of the bullpen. Those weren't illegitimate gripes, and each one was directly under his control. The bunting still annoys the hell out of me. Friday night in a 1-1 game in the 5th he has Buxton (hitting 3rd) attempt a sac bunt for the first pitch. Then he wipes it and Buxton goes on to strikeout. You have a guy struggling at the plate and digging into unfavorable counts as a result, and that is the answer? Set aside the fact that he called for a bunt that early in a tie game. If the argument is that Buxton is struggling and needed to get the ball in play then why is he penciled into the 3 spot? Also, why not keep the bunt on in that situation then? If he is confident in Buxton to move the runner without sacrificing himself then why attempt the bunt in the first place? Why dig him into a hole? That just makes 0 sense to me.

    Limited the damage = was in trouble and/or gave up hard hit balls but the end results don't reflect it You can do that for a game but not an entire season. The 4-0 start is great but the way Hughes looked last night didn't do anything to alleviate any of the concerns I had about him to start the season.

    Agree on the move down the lineup. If they even consider another option to AAA hopefully it isn't for AT LEAST a couple months of consistently poor play. Even then Idk if I would endorse it; his defense in CF is so damn good that I would much rather watch him beat the learning curve at the MLB level. It definitely would've been nice to have Park and not a 13th pitcher (or DanSan) especially on days like today when Mauer sits. I would rather see Sano getting all the reps he can at 3B right now.

    Everybody has their own guys and if DanSan is one of yours than kudos. I just can't see how hiding a player on the 25 man is beneficial. Similar criticism has been leveled against the Twins for trying to hide Haley in the bullpen. I wouldn't say he was overexposed so much as he was simply exposed.

    According to Bert our favorite bullpen stash Justin Haley is a hard throwing righty. If thats true then we have an entire staff of flame throwers. I had no idea....

    Both Molitor and the FO are to blame. They're each obsessed with holding onto fringe players and they're each willing to do so at the expense of the 25 man roster. Its infuriating.
