    Idk if I'm ready to bench Mauer for the season. Personally I would rather see the 4th OFer be somebody who can actually catch the ball but to be honest I would even settle for just another bat so no big complaints with that game plan. My head is about ready to explode having to watch any of Santana or Gimenez playing any position other than catcher.

    Vargas's place on the 40 man shouldn't be the reason he jumps Park. The 40 man isn't so crunched that they can't drop some dead weight to add Park. If the Twins actually view him as the better option then by all means make the move (they should have to start the season.) To me its a coin flip between Park and Vargas. Personally I would rather see Park for his defense and I'm enamored with the power but I'm ok with Vargas as well. Honestly they just need one of those two + Palka and soon...

    It was spent in 2017. The "savings," from that trade are gone. They used the money to resign Santiago and they're paying part of Nolasco's salary this season.

    If Polanco moves to 2B then Escobar can play SS and the Twins can go find another defensive SS who can't hit on the waiver wire. Carrying two utility IF is redundant. There is no reason for this team to waste a 25 man roster spot given the need for a 4th OFer and another bat on the bench.

    I don't understand the push for Adrianza. The utility IF role is already covered. They need a 4th OFer and another bat on the bench.

    Its a tough call. The Twins could desperately use another effective starter and if Duffey has the potential to fill that role then you want to make sure he is given every opportunity to prove he can't. If I'm choosing between Berrios and Duffey to replace Gibson I'm going with Berrios though. I agree with the Trevor May comparisons. I doubt the Twins would force Duffey to continue starting in the same way they've kept May relegated to the bullpen but if he does have a good thing going I'm ok with him staying in the pen when there are better options to fill the vacant starter role. I think the real dilemma is if/when Hughes gets bumped. At that point it should be Duffey stepping into the rotation.

    Nope, you're reading way too far into it. I was being facetious... The point was made (in jest) that we needed another good player to be the team punching bag. I said give it time and Sano will be feeling the heat again. Since the season started I haven't seen anybody go after Sano, but really how can you when he is playing this well? The amount of criticism he received last season and through the offseason was excessive IMO.

    It was tongue in cheek... No doubt though that he has been the recipient of a disproportionate amount of criticism now that some have moved on from Mauer.

    I get that 3 starts to begin the season is a small sample but at this point I think it is painfully obvious what the Twins are going to get from Gibson. I don't see an advantage to running him out for two more starts before making a switch. If I'm given the option between Berrios and Gibson I would have made the call yesterday... That said I do wonder if the Twins will keep him around for a while longer because they don't trust Hughes.

    Sano is playing too well at the moment but give it time. He'll have a 3 K game with an error and the pitchforks and torches will be out in full force.

    I can't imagine that Mejia + parts would be the best package they're offered for Santana given he pitches reasonably well up to the deadline.

    The one where they're carrying 13 pitchers, a backup catcher, a utility infielder, and a black hole named Danny Santana. They basically have two bench players worth trotting out. It needs to be fixed.

    I would take a defensively competent 4th OFer on the bench over Murphy right now.... It wasn't an egregious L but they definitely didn't get the "better end," of the trade.

    Mark me down as cautiously optimistic. I have much more confidence that Ervin will have a good year than this team will. Although, that isn't exactly high praise. Hopefully he keeps it up until the deadline and the Twins pull the trigger. If I'm buying his 2017 start as a continuation of last season's success and not a streak then I'm going to need to see some games against teams that aren't KC or the Chi Sox, but so far so good.

    They've played 11 games so far right? Ok... I'm enjoying the start but talk about the WS or playoffs is getting a little carried away IMO. A record even close to .500 would be a major step for this team.

    Wasn't a knock on the drag. It was an observation that its depressing that a bunt single is the only positive he has had at the plate this week.

    Agreed that as a small population here at TD the divide seems to be more pronounced than than reality says it is; but hey, at least as a whole we haven't fallen prey to the founder effect.... In all seriousness though it was a pretty funny video.
