  1. The Brewers put up 12 in the 2nd at Miami, so unless that turns into a crazy game, they will clinch first.
  2. We were mainly talking about effort by the front office before and during the season. The only hope KC had of finishing ahead of Houston in the standings was total system failure in Houston.
  3. How many really made no effort? I count 5 - Nats, Rockies, Pirates, KC, A's. The White Sox tried - they just failed spectacularly. A couple of teams cut their losses at the deadline when they were out of it, but other sports have far more teams with no hope. (NBA anyone?)
  4. Watching the White Sox get pounded never gets old. Can we put in our order now for another 10-2 win tomorrow? (I'm going to assume we can close this one out.)
  5. With apologies to Buddy Ryan, "Better cut him. All he does is hit grand slams." I know, not fair to Buddy Ryan because Cris Carter had some personal issues Ryan was trying to keep private when he said "All he does is catch touchdowns."
  6. I see that meteorology school has at least two graduates. 🙂
  7. He'd probably be a great slow-pitch softball player. He might want to start that soon.
  8. Apparently Bochy isn't a fan. Maybe he should have been.
  9. The old Pagan giving up 6 there would be as ugly as those uniforms. Maybe.
  10. Bite your tongue and don't give Rocco any ideas.
  11. That means they drive around the city until they find a slow-pitch softball team they can beat up and take their uniforms, right?
  12. Even if it works out (so far, so good), I don't like the move.
  13. The Dr Scholl's ones actually worked for me (along with some extra stretching .)
  14. No pressure, kid I'd be OK with the next Bobby Murcer (although I certainly wouldn't complain if we got Mantle.)
  15. Harper was a marginal defensive catcher with an above-average bat. He was Piazza lite (very lite.) AJ didn't have a great defensive rep in Minnesota, but it seemed to improve over the years. I don't know if it was real improvement, if his rep improved as he stayed at catcher longer, or if he got a bum rap in Minnesota. My guess is it was real improvement and he became a pretty good catcher.
  16. I hope Kuechel doesn't need that strike zone to be successful. It was the most generous one I have seen all year.
  17. Sure, it's Correa's fault. The other teams have had the advantage of facing Carlos "6-4-3" Correa, 😎
  18. Agree. I'm looking forward to seeing the umpire scorecard to see if it was classified as a missed call or if it was within the margin of error.
  19. The more info we need is whether or not the egg is hard boiled. If so, that would move it up to a maybe.
  20. I think the Twins are looking at the wrong spreadsheet
  21. Last 4 appearances: 2 IP, 4 H, 5 BB, 6 ER That did follow 4 good appearances, but the disastrous ones have been too frequent.
  22. Bad math on my part. 183 is the record (Sano topped his 2016 total in 2021), but I did 183-121 and came up with 72 - oops. So he needs 62 to tie, plus one to break it. 63/1.39 = 45.3 games to break it. THERE IS STILL A CHANCE!! (They didn't DFA him last night, did they?)
  23. He is also going to have to pick up the pace a bit, if that is even possible. In 87 games this year he has 121 K. That's 1.39 K/GP. At that pace, he will need to play 52.5 games to break the record. We have 50 left. I'd say he has a better shot of being DFAd tonight than he has of playing even 40 of the remaining games.
