  1. I thought it was pretty good, considering they put him on the spot and he was completely unprepared.
  2. Careful there. There are a lot of us around here. (Ask Chief)
  3. I didn't know enough about Lewis to love or hate the pick. I revisited my comments at the time, and I preferred Greene and didn't want McKay.
  4. That was a pretty good time to tune in.
  5. For those of us who don't have Apple TV and missed the Friday game, they decided to play the same game again today. Thanks, guys. We were fine with missing it.
  6. You say that as if they are in the same category, Tyler Wells is a fringe #5 starter. Is he better than someone they kept instead? Maybe, but pitchers tend to be crap shoots anyway. I'm losing zero sleep over him. (My first thought when I saw his name was "Who was he again?") The fact that Castro was only 26 meant there was still some time to get better. Through age 25 he was a below average hitter, but not way below. If he could get to average with his athletic ability and versatility, he would be pretty valuable. He exceeded that. It's not a Shane Mack type of coup, but it was a good find.
  7. Why would you wish that on Nick Lodolo? Should we schedule the TJ surgery now or wait until after the trade?
  8. As bad as they have been, they are in the final wildcard spot right now.
  9. I had to do the math and check it twice before I was convinced that 1974 was the 50 years ago list. 😧 I recognized 5 names on the list and could supply the first names for them. I thought maybe looking up the first names might help me remember Butler and Hughes. It didn't. I don't know how I don't remember a guy who won 16 games for them in '75, but I don't. I do remember his 1976 baseball card with the weird shadow on his face, but I don't remember listening to or watching a game in which he pitched.
  10. One category he will have a tough time topping is the best baseball card for someone born in Germany
  11. Gonna have to find an old Kirilloff photo, too.
  12. Would our old second baseman have caught that one?
  13. Julien needs to not swing so hard his helmet comes off - that haircut needs to stay hidden. It's like a bowl cut, except the barber used the batting helmet instead of a bowl.
  14. It looked like he might have tagged him on the sleeve of the left arm just before he got to the base.
  15. In short, I’m glad this is happening, and I hope it happens for a good, long time. Suffer. The Bears suck, too. Has Randballs Stu stopped doing satire completely, or is he just taking a week off?
  16. Yes you are. Next you will be saying "I really don't hate the Yankees." It's not like I want them to go 3-159 for the year. They are allowed to beat the Yankees a few times. Maybe take a series in Houston, too. But 0-13 vs the Twins would be great. If we let them stay close and then rip their hearts out a few times, that would be fine, although I'd like a few blowouts thrown in, too.
  17. Trying to figure out what that appeal could have been. They said "leaving early" but there was not caught fly ball. Maybe they thought he retreated past 1B and then didn't touch it on the advance. Edit to add: Maybe they were supposed to appeal at 2nd, but got their signals crossed.
  18. I can't help reading that with a John Cleese / Dead Parrot voice
  19. That might not be a typo. If things don't turn around, mid-June might be the start of next off-season. (I think things will turn around.)
  20. The only comment of mine I could find on the subject was under the Randballs Stu "Carlos Santana vs. Carlos Santana: KNOW THE DIFFERENCE!" article, where we tag-teamed "Another way to tell them apart: one is old enough to have been at Woodstock / and the other plays guitar." Not exactly a ringing endorsement, although I'm not above setting aside what I really think if there is a joke to be made. I didn't like the signing, but I didn't hate it, either. The Nelson Cruz signing bought some good will for the signing of older guys.
