  1. I think he's in toast but why not? It's a minor league deal. Even if they call him up, it's hard to imagine a worse performance out of the bottom-ranking bullpen arm at this point.
  2. Surprised that Stewart is only 24. You'd think he was 32 given the commentary sometimes.
  3. I'm definitely not a pitching coach, but to me it seems like his control is either on or off. When he was in the bullpen in April it was off and there weren't results. If he's throwing 60-70% strikes he gets results. Though that's probably the case for any pitcher, to a point.
  4. I get it but...he couldn't even get an out in a blowout. They'd have been better off just keeping Eades on the roster and waiting it out (in retrospect).
  5. Seattle is on a pace to destroy the Twins 30-some pitchers of a few years ago. Last I heard they'd already used something like 22 different arms.
  6. I'm about done with Romero. I'm not sure why they felt he deserves a chance more than Eades right now.
  7. This alcohol vs chew seems irrelevant, but thanks for putting me in my place.
  8. I have no idea what point you're trying to make here.
  9. So? The thread was discussing Budweiser ads in stadiums and on TV. Also, they aren't exactly consuming the alcohol in that photo.
  10. They're on the job. Their employer has the right to decide what they can and can't do on the field and at the stadium.
  11. There's a big difference between (disclosed) advertising and a player's use of a product.
  12. I feel like he's on the IL every year. I'd take him if he's not the only addition, but otherwise he seems like a risk.
  13. I don't see SD trading controllable talent after their free agent investments. Pending free agents, sure. But they're also playing for next year. But who knows. The trade game is unpredictable.
  14. Aren't errors basically a part of A-level ball? The old joke being that the best place for a souvenir ball is to sit behind first base for all the throws that go into the bleachers.
  15. Isn't this question backwards? When you're trying to buy, the selling is the one who sets the price.
  16. And Harper pitched a perfect inning averaging about 20 mph less than that per pitch.
  17. Depth is good. Competition makes good players better. Options are there for a reason.
  18. I don't see them DFA'ing Adrianza at this point. Arraez has been great. But so was Austudillo. The scouting report will get out. Arraez has lots of options left and is 22. Send him down on a positive note, let him learn the game more and improve those weaknesses before MLB exposes them. He'll be back.
  19. Also, that he's likely shown no interest in playing for the Twins. It's hard to imagine a guy who doesn't sign a contract until June as a positive clubhouse presence. I'm concerned that he'd be another LoMo or Lynn, though a multi-year deal might chance my mind.
  20. I'm glad to see them winning competitive games. 8-1 is great and all. But you need to perform under pressure. Close games are the games you need to win to prepare for the full grind of a season.
  21. I agree that's it's way to early to talk about the deadline. But it's never too early to talk about making the team better. And often, the best way to get a deal, is to make that deal before the market gets hot.
