    If it's a salary dump where the Twins give up low level prospects or the Cubs eat salary, yes. But I wouldn't trade for that contract as is. I'd insist on a deal that favors the Twins to offset its risk.

    Thanks for this. I saw the comments about the entertainment aspect. To me, it seems like the Saints were previously defined by their independence which...isn't the case as an affiliate. But it's probably good business move for both sides, especially in a post-pandemic unknown that could really hurt the indie leagues.

    You beat me to it. I suppose I should say something about how of course it ends at Hooey. Forget Hicks. The Hardy trade is still the worst recent trade in my memory by a longshot.

    Is this based on the opening day DH? Because a lot of the names listed did not get many DH ABs in those particular years. Park being a recent example.

    Seeing that Santana leads the pack almost makes me hope our rookies don't perform super well next year (as a sign of career longevity). Yeah, I know DanSan kinda resurfaced in 2019 but I'm still not counting it.

    I have nothing to say that hasn't been said in 14,000 threads before this one. But I'm not a fan of the headline. Saying he should leave makes it sound like it's his decision.

    I'm surprised, but I'm also not upset. He's likely a one-year wonder, but either way it's easier to replace a 6th/7th inning RP than an 8th/9th.

    It's curious that each player signed for less than predicted. But I take it as a good sign that they all signed so fast.

    With the team built to win now they don't need reclamation projects unless it's for an extra bench spot or long-relief. I'd pass on both of these. Hopefully the marginal starters get pushed by the prospects. I'm also suspicious of any player who had a lot of HR in 2019 but a spotty history otherwise due to the juiced ball.

    FWIW, Stewart wasn't "without a role" last year. He opted out of the season.

    I didn't realize Oliva has 200+. Also, now I know what we need to sign this offseason. Players with I and X names.

    Eddie isn't staying on a 1-year team friendly deal. Not being offered arbitration is a slight, even if it's a "business decision." He might sign for $8 somewhere, but not in MN. Players move on when this happens.

    I agree. And it's a position, like the 4th catcher, where it's possible to get a few MiLB FA or timely waiver wire claims to fill the void. It's how they got Adrianza, after all.

    I remember the Berrios extension rumors, but not Buxton. Sorry. No need to be insulting about it. Also, these are conversations that happen behind closed doors. Contract discussions that make the papers are generally rumors. It's often helpful to get a feel for what's going on, but it's not the full picture. So whatever was reported in 2018 is not necessarily reflective of anything in 2020.
