  1. I could see the case for giving Jeffers some time in MiLB, but I don't expect it. And I think Tellis is the backup plan in that case.
  2. If you're looking for a "raid" or a lopsided trade, it wouldn't be any of these players. It would be a salary dump -- Gray might be the closest. The rest have too much control and come at a cost. And I like Gray. I have a weird thing where I like to see players who bombed for NYY do well elsewhere. If we can't beat them in the payoffs we can at least get value out of Carl Pavano But I suspect you're just alliterating the title and that wasn't your intent. The more good players the Twins can get, the better. I'll leave it at that. They should always be doing due diligence on who may be available. SP and RP are the obvious targets, but I don't see why CIN would trade players a controllable RP, as those players are affordable during arbitration. It would likely cost quite a bit more (see Pressley trade).
  3. And what happens if Garver gets another concussion? Depth is always good.
  4. I'm glad we had a mini-season last year, but I'm evaluating very few players on what happened during.
  5. I wish they'd just sit down with the MLBPA instead of the power play press releases.
  6. If it's a salary dump where the Twins give up low level prospects or the Cubs eat salary, yes. But I wouldn't trade for that contract as is. I'd insist on a deal that favors the Twins to offset its risk.
  7. Suspect both players will be back in the MN system (or traded and in MiLB) by August. *pending a "normal" season
  8. Thanks for this. I saw the comments about the entertainment aspect. To me, it seems like the Saints were previously defined by their independence which...isn't the case as an affiliate. But it's probably good business move for both sides, especially in a post-pandemic unknown that could really hurt the indie leagues.
  9. I'd like to hear more quotes from Saints ownership. I think the changes in this article will impact them more than anyone else. Thanks for the good writeup.
  10. I wouldn't give Santana 2 years. But I also wouldn't have done so 2 years ago, so what do I know.
  11. You beat me to it. I suppose I should say something about how of course it ends at Hooey. Forget Hicks. The Hardy trade is still the worst recent trade in my memory by a longshot.
  12. Is this based on the opening day DH? Because a lot of the names listed did not get many DH ABs in those particular years. Park being a recent example.
  13. A great pitcher. But no rings, which matters at his position.
  14. I was only here to say "not in the Central, please," only to see your first two spots. I think a contender signs him (so not DET).
  15. I believe arbiters are legal professionals, not baseball professionals.
  16. Seeing that Santana leads the pack almost makes me hope our rookies don't perform super well next year (as a sign of career longevity). Yeah, I know DanSan kinda resurfaced in 2019 but I'm still not counting it.
  17. I have nothing to say that hasn't been said in 14,000 threads before this one. But I'm not a fan of the headline. Saying he should leave makes it sound like it's his decision.
  18. I'm surprised, but I'm also not upset. He's likely a one-year wonder, but either way it's easier to replace a 6th/7th inning RP than an 8th/9th.
  19. The old regime would be offering him an extension.
  20. It's curious that each player signed for less than predicted. But I take it as a good sign that they all signed so fast.
  21. Thanks for giving us the full 9 innings instead of 7
  22. With the team built to win now they don't need reclamation projects unless it's for an extra bench spot or long-relief. I'd pass on both of these. Hopefully the marginal starters get pushed by the prospects. I'm also suspicious of any player who had a lot of HR in 2019 but a spotty history otherwise due to the juiced ball.
  23. FWIW, Stewart wasn't "without a role" last year. He opted out of the season.
  24. I didn't realize Oliva has 200+. Also, now I know what we need to sign this offseason. Players with I and X names.
