  1. well, it's a productive out. baby steps.
  2. The only way out of a slump is to break through. Maybe that's the plan with this lineup. Odds seem good that a few players break out... they just need at bats? (maybe sarcasm/i'm not really sure anymore)
  3. I refuse to "like" that explanation. But ty
  4. 20 P, 17 S. Are they swinging at everything, or is Varland throwing meatballs?
  5. I haven't seen him pitch, but based on usage, I wonder about Jackson. Or Johnson. Whatever JJ's name is. We sure have a lot of panic at this site considering I haven't even learned their names yet. 😁
  6. And most the the current team was in diapers when TK retired.
  7. I may remember this wrong and I don't care enough to google the stats, but the piranha term was because they hustled down the line and took the extra base (or forced it). Not because they stole bases. Sprint speed stats are relevant to this, but this article is really just focused on SB instead of overall baserunning. It goes without saying that Gardenhire's time ran out, but at his best, I loved that aggressive philosophy of "Nobody practices fundamentals: force them to make the throw." I am not saying it would apply to the 2024 Twins as built. I would like to see this team improve baserunning and contact skills, but it doesn't have to be their identity. I think their identity should be a delicate balance between aggressive XBH swings and working the count, personally. In other words: Aggressive but smart.
  8. Adding the oddball 1970s antics of this franchise, they have a hell of a fascinating history.
  9. Just came here to post this. I did a double take at MLBTR first, assuming somebody else had the same name. Good for him. 30 next week. And possibly only getting the callup because the Mets cut Tonkin.
  10. If you're going to say a play is so unique you've never seen it before, it would be nice if you included a link.
  11. This sentence may be the best thing I've read on this site in quite a while: To reverse the scenario, I also think of it every time Buxton is 0-2 and has to chase a borderline pitch, inevitably striking out.
  12. C'mon Kirilloff. Where's my triple?
  13. If I've learned anything from TD so far in 2024, it's that Dick Bremer wasn't the problem.
  14. I'll rephrase it. I expect Ober eat innings as much as I expect Alcala to go a month without hitting the IL.
  15. I get the frustration, but I'm not at all surprised they pulled Ober given his inning situation (and second half performance) last year. It's essentially his first start of the year. Nice job by Okert getting out of the jam eventually.
  16. I think it's more about Castro. He hasn't played like a starting platoon player this year. If Miranda hits, Castro moves to UTIL, which forces Martin to AAA.
  17. I had a friend do this in Madden's draft-your-team mode. It ended as well as you'd expect. Though I think they were Johnsons or Smiths or something.
  18. I'd say that no team is selling in April, ever. But Miami isn't like other organizations.
  19. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't the slider harder on the elbow? If so, I wouldn't expect them to lean into it heavily for a SP after TJ surgery.
  20. Well, it took until page 3 to mention Gallo and I only saw one payroll comment, so I guess we at least have new topics. I have zero concerns about the offense overall at this point. Slumps are gonna happen, but they don't necessarily make a pattern. There are a few players I do have concerns about, but this team has AAA depth to make a swap if needed.
