  1. What's Nunez on track to make in 2017 via arbitration?
  2. Then it's pretty clear that he's not a professional. That won't fly in any walk of life.
  3. I think you're imaging things. Danny Santana: Born: November 7, 1990 in Monte Plata, Monte Plata, Dominican Republic (Age 25.226)
  4. And not pad their stats against this bullpen?
  5. He'll get his chance. Sano will be back. Kepler will go down. Somebody will probably get hurt (or traded) within a month of that. I like the conservative, make them really earn it approach. It worked with Hunter and Span. It didn't work out so well with Liriano. There's no hard and fast rule as each prospect has their own personalities, but I think it helps with the psychological side of the game.
  6. I thought it was pre-trade with the Nats, but I stand corrected. I knew he had all those innings limitations throughout the minors u 'til last year and knew it was shoulder related, but that's it. If this is his third time with this kind of thing, def not a good sign for anything long term.
  7. Is it the same shoulder that was injured pre trade to the Twins?
  8. Feels like a serious overstatement. Muscle pulls are never an issue of "prone-ness," it's a matter of preparation.
  9. If previous up-and-down players are an indication, the second time demoted tends to be longer and require more consistency before promotion. I'm thinking of Dozier, specifically, and others that I've forgotten.
  10. Make him prove it for at least another month. I think that's the plan with all the players who have raked in AAA and failed at MLB so far. Make them "extra hungry" or whatever bad metaphor we choose. He'll fester for a while, either until injury or he's out of options. That's essentially how the system works. Personally, I'm okay with that and don't think he's ready yet. He's had his hot streaks before--maybe not as severely as Arcia, but he needs consistency to play MLB. I wonder if might be a fit for the Mets, though. Other than as bench bat, I don't see a role in the Twins the next couple of years. But these things tend to sort themselves out.
  11. Commenting on Reusse, or reading him, or listening to him, is all a waste of time. But sometimes I like to waste time. I think any piece that compares position by position is silly and removed from all context.
  12. I mostly agree, but in May that's not concerning to me yet. In mid-July, yes. Somebody will get hurt, somebody will slump, somebody will be cut and, more or less, that playing time will come. Where many see the Polanco yoyo as meaning no confidence, I see it as meaning they want him in MLB but there's not a place yet. That place will come.
  13. I think what any GM says to the press is white noise, neither to be believed nor disbelieved. I agree with your latter statement ("personally..."). And they should expect to make the playoffs, even if the roster is inferior because playing without that confidence would only hurt them. It doesn't mean they shouldn't try to improve the roster...that's a whole additional topic that I think TD has thoroughly covered.
  14. Stand PR. You'd rather he said "I don't care if they win or lose?" I bet the players would love that.
  15. Souhan and Reusse don't deserve responses. But they exist soley to get them.
  16. I know it's been discussed, but do they feel he can be an everyday CF? My impression is no. In that case I think jud6312 is right about what it will take. And I hope Arcia doesn't implode.
  17. I'd rather see SS Polanco and 2B Dozier than a stopgap SS who hits like Suzuki. Even if Polanco is subpar on defense.
  18. Geez, what's the deal with Tonkin? Whenever I pay attn, he's awful, yet his #s aren't bad. Is he just a good mop up guy and awful in a close game?
  19. Didn't they interview him before last year?
  20. But he was "injured" when pitching that ERA.
  21. They'll demote Berrios. Then, 6 days later after a missed start, put Hughes on the DL and recall him. I'd say a slight possibility they insert Gibson into the bullpen or AAA if his rehab starts don't go well. TR has been kinda no BS these past couple weeks.
  22. While I think the level of talent they're clearing out now is questionable for May vs March, it does seem like May has been Ryan's historical hosuecleaning month when I look back at my fuzzy memory of players like Hernandez, Ponson, Harris, Bautista, etc. That's really all I have to say on this. The timing feels odd, but I won't miss Graham if he's never going to be more than mop up.
