  1. If they keep changing the format, 75 wins might get them into the playoffs.
  2. It teaches "dealing with change"? (It's probably just branding.)
  3. I fear the team might be even worse than last year.
  4. Personal trainers, not team trainers. There's a difference.
  5. I don't like how he worded it either, but there's no reason why he should be expected to talk to Sano in the offseason. I don't want my boss calling me on my day off.
  6. Of course they shouldn't make decisions based on stats from ST, but I'm pretty sure the front office knows that. They made it based on practice and coaching sessions and the many one-on-ones that happen during ST, not in-game performance.
  7. Did Morneau retire or is he hoping to sign with someone again?
  8. More specifically, I'd like to get rid of the unbalanced schedule between divisions and this seems like the easiest way.
  9. Get rid of interleague play next.
  10. If trading for prospects they should take the best players available, regardless of position. They can worry about who to pencil into the 2019 MLB lineup in 2019 without worrying about the depth chart yet. Injuries and position changes will take care of that with time. That said, they need MLB pitching. (Or MLB ready by mid-season.) (I'm also not a big fan of trading Dozier, but it all depends. I understand why it makes sense but that doesn't mean I have to like it.)
  11. Gattis is Houston's other catcher so, yes, McCann will catch a lot unless they make another move.
  12. I think it would be a specialist in most cases, someone who can handle stretches on the bench and pinch hitting vs playing everyday. In other words: platoon types, 3rd catchers, defensive liability bat-first veterans and such. Know the Twins of old, it would be so they can carry a 16th pitcher for when the other 3 mop-up guys are overworked.
  13. I agree, but they probably have to be better than the Twins 25th man.
  14. I don't love the 3rd year, but you always overpay in free agency.
  15. I'll believe the multiple innings theory when I see it in practice. I think it's more of a postseason strategy and playoff run than something teams will do April-July.
  16. Except they've hopefully given a correct diagnosis this time after essentially not treating his injury until August or September last year. In other words, it might not have been BP duty, it may have just been that he was never healed in the first place.
  17. If Johan will consider being a LOOGY I'm open minded.
  18. I'm surprised, but his flaws are sizable, so not shocked.
  19. Is Garver/Murphy a safe enough back-up plan for if Soto?
  20. If they platoon at any position, it seems like C is the easiest unless there's a pitcher-catcher bond to mess with.
  21. If Rosario can't learn to take a walk it's hard to see him improving. He doesn't have to be a "patient" hitter, but his walk rate would be comical if he wasn't on my team.
  22. If they still have Dozier, then they plug Polanco at 3B or maybe move Dozier over.
  23. I agree with all posters here. Last year I was all for "only trade him for an above average offer." Now there's no role and, while $8mil isn't much in current MLB economics, it's a lot for a bench bat. If they can get someone with Mejia's ceiling, take it. I might even take Nick Blackburn as upgrade over last year's rotation.
  24. Yeah, I fail to see how any scenario that removes Dozier and adds Pearce makes this a better team.
  25. I feel like more of the AL is moving in the Twins direction here, using DH as a "half day off" for regulars instead of carrying a mediocre bat. Of course an Ortiz is nice, but the majority of DHs are not that level. I see no issue with a player taking 80-120 games while rotating through everyone else.
