  1. But if there's a 55% chance Garcia goes on the DL, this makes sense to me.
  2. I can't imagine the Twins give up a SP. You usually don't trade from an area of weakness.
  3. Does Gee have an opt-out date? I thought I heard that when he signed.
  4. I'm concerned that Molitor keeps throwing Duffey out there in leverage situations when he clearly has issues he needs to work out.
  5. Young players have ups and downs. Even most established veterans are streaky. It'll play out with time.
  6. Even if May is back and performing, can he be counted on? He hasn't topped 100 IP in...3-4 years?
  7. Young players struggle--it should be expected, so I think it's an overstatement to call him a disappointment. That he's playing mostly MLB caliber ball is big. I'd say the biggest disappointments would be Santiago, Gibson or Belisle.
  8. When was Correa? I really feel like they signed 3 that year. Eh, the point probably remains the same.
  9. Once that I remember: Nolasco, Hughes, Santana.
  10. I keep trying, but I'm just not a fan of the Derby. I even went in person at Target Field. It's just so repetitive. That said, I'm glad (and not surprised) to see Sano have a big showing.
  11. You don't rebuild by trading your youngest players, even if they aren't performing.
  12. What has Duffy done to prove he's a better pitcher? The rate he's trending, he'll have a similar ERA soon.
  13. I'm curious how often the #1 pick goes to a newly hired GM. I'd guess fairly often.
  14. I was being sarcastic earlier and it's impossible to know what Berrios learned in MLB in 2016 vs in AAA in 2017 vs maturity or fortitude or whatever you want to call it. I think it makes sense to try young arms in a "nothing to lose" sense when you're at the bottom of the division (see 2016), but the scenario right now is just too different. Generally speaking, I'd be hesitant to do a straight AA to MLB promotion on anyone with less than half a season at AA.
  15. I agree with the first half of this, but no Twins player not named Miguel will land an ace. It takes package deals of 2+ top prospects for an ace, sometimes 3-5. I think Granite shows promise, but he'll get his chance. These things tend to work themselves out as the season progresses.
  16. We're lucky there hasn't been a major injury to a starter yet. That time will likely come. It does seem that Vargas would have to be the one sent down, unless they drop a pitcher...which is unlikely with this bullpen. Maybe there will be a 2-for-1 trade around the break to solve the roster crunch.
  17. Except that he retooled his pitching approach prior to this year, so previous season splits may not be relevant anymore...assuming he hasn't reverted to old habits.
  18. I wonder how much of this is because of the scenario when they made their first appearances. Most of the other emergency call-ups have been thrown into the fire because arms where needed NOW. Similar cases for these two, but apperance #1 was in a much calmer time of the game, not being called mid-inning to stop a rally before a game gets out of control.
  19. When does Gonsalves have to be added to the 40 man? This offseason?
  20. I'm curious to read a review of how it compares to Turner Field, a mid-aged stadium. Are there any aspects of the fan experience where you preferred Turner?
  21. While I think a 3 year is a little long for his age, a 3 year deal will never bury a team even if they ends up eating it. And $7mil isn't that much money in MLB terms. I'd say he's worth as much as Castro, albeit at a different position. Sign whoever they can that's competent for the next 2-4 years, as long as the bankroll leaves room for Sano and Buxton extensions.
  22. I agree, but his first start was 60. He should be at least 80 on round 2. Gee is a curious question. He had an opt-out date, so being sent down might not sit well with him. This team needs a long reliever with Haley out. Whether that's Hughes or Gee...I guess I don't care. Just someone who isn't a miscast AAA pitcher who is asked to go multiple innings because he's the last man standing.
  23. It's nice to see a rookie get his debut in the 9th instead of thrown into the fire for once.
  24. I think Santiago was scheduled to throw 60 pitches in his first game. That would put him on a pace for 80 or so in game 2, probably. No idea if that's MLB in AAA. Even a 4 IP start is good for most Twins #5 pitchers this year, I guess.
