  1. A 22 year old who doesn't focus soley on work? Stop the presses.
  2. I can hit 20-30 HRs with "enough" ABs too.
  3. Besides when he wanted to stay at C and they move him to 1B.
  4. Draft picks are like cars. They depreciate in value immediately.
  5. Weird. I'd think he'd scan his box score everyday. This doesn't surprise me. Some players memorize their stats, others are more or less indifferent. It's a different game on the field than in the stands.
  6. Yup, the more innings the better for fixing what's wrong and for building up strength. Nothing to lose here, except maybe a few games in the AAA standings.
  7. The only person afraid of the past here is Ortiz, who is still whining about a move from a decade ago that ultimately improved his career.
  8. I predict Sale is traded to KC for Duensing by morning.
  9. If Arcia can perform at that level I think it will sort itself out, honestly. That said, I haven't seen enough of him hitting when he doesn't play everyday to suggest that he will. But, to answer your question, if he can put up those numbers in a platoon role, of course they should play him.
  10. I'm not opposed to slowly transitioning in Park, like the Pirates did Kang, but he should be FT by the Break. That, and while I'd like to see Arcia thrive, so far he's been a streaky hitter who doesn't hit at all without regular playing time. I'm not sure he'd take well to starting 3 times a week based on what we've seen.
  11. I feel that SB is a skill often learned in MLB, as minor league players are sloppier on defense (throws and tags) and the pitchers are on a lower level as well. In AA or whatever, a player can steal on speed alone so they aren't forced to learn that extra step until at the higher level.
  12. I'm upset that he's not signed yet as a longtime fan, but not surprised. Whether accurate or not, I think his stat sheet over the past 5 years says "limited positional flexibility" + "injury prone." Not a good combo to have. If he's not a starter, he's of limited use to a team.
  13. I think the 6th spot is Kintzler's job to lose knowing previous roster decisions by the Twins with either a rookie or a LHP as #7. I want Meyer to do something but he's seeming pretty Real Deal over the past year.
  14. This is off topic but I'd strongly disagree that the NBA and NFL have reduced this. It's getting to the point to me where the NFL is getting unwatchable because they'd rather show some sack dance than the actual sack. And usually on an inconsequential 1st down play anyway.
  15. I agree with everything said (when has that happened here), but I'm still surprised that it "broke" via NY instead of MN. They could have given distance but still written a piece between Nov-March. And, if they had known, I believe they would have. I'm with Seth. I think it was totally under wraps. (Which is fine, it's his personal life.)
  16. I mean, it's good to give him space where needed...but where was the MN media on this? I feel like the NY Times shouldn't be the one I learn this from.
  17. proc·la·ma·tion ˌpräkləˈmāSH(ə)n/ noun a public or official announcement, especially one dealing with a matter of great importance. Let's not blow things out of perspective. This wasn't some notarized legal document, it was an offseason press conference to local media. This is just "a thing Molitor said one day," not an official statement to be held in a court of law.
  18. It seems that he's projected to essentially be Denard Span at the plate. I'd take that in a starting SS.
  19. He was signed as a SS. I wonder if he's mad at the Twins for moving him to 3B? It's part of the job. Part of any job, really.
  20. Morneau is still out there too. Twins need some more 1B/DH types right?
  21. What's the 40-man situation? Will they have to cut someone whenever he's added? If so, I'd think that suggests he'll be a May call-up instead of April. They usually give players that extra month before severing ties.
  22. I'm too lazy to dig up sources, but I feel like I've read the opposite of that many times, that they're most always given a "plan." Denard Span comes to mind, granted that was like 6 years ago. I think Dozier, Hicks, and Arcia are all in that same boat.
  23. I think if it's a disaster, the decision is an easy one. It's if it's only a mediocre result where it's a tough decision.
