  1. We were looking for kooky. Creepy and kooky.
  2. No, it’s Chief. He’s a bit touched.
  3. While I’m not an advocate for or against firing anyone, except maybe the FO at the end of the season, why shouldn’t they be judged against pre- season expectations? I predicted 80-85 wins, because I think that’s where they’ll be. After a good stretch I upped that a little, but I’m back to where I was before the season began. Because that’s the team we have, imo. I think there is potential to be better and think they are underperforming in a couple of areas, but … <shrug> … I just don’t think firing anyone now makes a huge difference. The fans will be happy, I suppose … but only IF the team turns it around. I think they could still turn it around either way. I’m kind of … non plussed… about the whole thing. I just want to watch better baseball. I don’t know if I’ll get that by firing a bunch of people mid-season.
  4. Right. Varland needs some more work as his cracks are starting to show. I’m fine with exchanging Varland for Maeda, for now. Let’s see if Maeda has ‘righted the ship’, give him a couple of starts, then see. However, I’m not sure I want either Balazovic or Headrick sent down, but Balazovic is the likely candidate since they still have him starting and he pitched several innings the other day. Dunno. Maybe send down Morán or De Leon instead? (Can they send down De Leon and not expose him to waivers?)
  5. I've said this a dozen times ... change starts at the top. FO changes will bring about change elsewhere. Firing coaches and the manager might make some feel better about things, and it might cause a momentary boost ... but then we are still back where we started.
  6. I think this is a pretty disrespectful take. I don’t think this is about his ego at all. He isn’t making this decision alone or in a vacuum from all accounts we’ve been given. This is a decision by committee. I don’t happen to agree with the committee at this stage in the game, but I don’t think this is an ego thing at all
  7. That might be too much, but 3-0 is doable
  8. I mean, I’m glad he had to go back, but why? I missed the call
  9. So, when Maeda returns … does he replace Varland? I’m just not sure, but I think Varland needs a break
  10. That would be overkill ... but ... we'll see how good the game is and just how much consolation I might need
  11. Good idea!!! The most useful post in a game thread ever! Thank you!
  12. what do you think? Speaking of which ... I have ice cream. Went to the store and actually bought some ... once my smoothie dinner is well digested, maybe have to break open a pint ... Graeter's Toffee or Ben & Jerry's mint chocolate cookie ... such decisions ...
  13. It's the only veggie I'd put on ice cream ... of course it would have to be cooked up first with some sugar and spice 🙂
  14. If I still lived in the area, you'd be getting a knock on your door about now ... that sounds GOOD!!! I have some rhubarb in the frig that I bought at the farmer's market ... gotta use it quick, but since got REALLY busy and with company coming
  15. Sheeesh ... no way. I love spinach but I need my blizzards veggie-free ... unless they make one with rhubarb
  16. Mighty tall ask for a game thread, but we will have to survive without you
  17. Blecht. I don't. But I do love fresh spinach. Can't make a veggie smoothie without it!
  18. Yeah ... I don't blame them for being a little cautious here, or with Kirilloff, even though I'd rather them both be in the lineup every day. Lewis did his rehab then came right up, so ... I'm okay with it. Kind of, sort of. At least the caring side of me is. The callous side who wants to win, isn't. 🙂
