    I’m not sure what point you are making with this game, which we won. You seemed to miss the context of that post and responded with hyperbole and absolutism and created something I never said. I agree that I think this team underperforms, I’ve stated many times I think there is potential, but I also don’t think this team was ever a 90+ win team, but around .500 or slightly better (80-85 wins). So, what in yesterday’s game was off, mismanaged, caused them to what, win?

    I agree with all of that. I also want to see Kepler gone and replaced with Larnach and/ Wallner. I’m hoping the FO is giving this real effort.

    I get this take, in general, although it’s pretty silly to suggest the team philosophy is to close their eyes and swing. Assuming that was a bit of sarcasm due to frustrations about their offense, something you are not alone in. Many even predicted this at the beginning of the season. I still think the potential is there and not sure what the block is. We see glimpses then nothing. It’s been the source of most frustrations this year and the subject of many, many threads here. What I don’t get about this take is posting this in this recap thread after yesterday’s victory. We won. It was a great game of baseball. While yes, I get that some still are disappointed that we won because the offense wasn’t more entertaining, but I saw a great game of baseball (what I was able to watch). Surprisingly good pitching from a group that has let us down frequently, but didn’t yesterday, and some great defense, also something that has let us down on occasion, but didn’t yesterday. Pitching and defense are fun to watch when it clicks, and it did yesterday. I don’t understand why that one game can’t be celebrated despite the fact that the team still has some glaring problems, I guess for you we can’t,

    One game won’t tell that either way. It’s one game. But it is one we won. You seem disappointed we did.

    Yeah, some need more stimulation than a well-pitched game and some good defense including a great play at the plate. Short attention spans don’t make for great baseball fans.

    I agree with @Matt Braun … let’s celebrate the wins when they come. This team was never projected to win that many. We have always been a .500 to just barely above team. Baldelli isn’t going to have much effect on that, imo. Yeah, I’m in that camp that doesn’t think an average manager really has that much effect on outcome. He’s not Francona, no one is. But then Francona doesn’t have a winning team, either. Hmmm … The difference is going to be the players themselves and/or the FO making decisions and changes to the roster. As for today, the BP came through, and then some. Small miracles do happen. The defense was ON. The offense was enough today, and I’ll take it. Don’t doubt a win when they won’t be plentiful. Hoping the players and the FO do something about tomorrow. Yeah, and that includes those struggling. Find a way.

    Some of that isn't on the manager, though. Who gets called up, sent down, DFA'd ... not on the manager. And I'm not sure that Buxton playing CF vs DH is a Baldelli decision alone. But, agree with some of the lineup choices and who's hot/not and playing accordingly. The strictness to matchups annoys me and wish he'd bend some on that.

    I think Castro is a good 26th man on the roster. I don’t think it’s a Rocco thing alone to want a super utility guy. The problem is our starters needing to stay healthy and make starts. Nick Gordon, hmm, that’s going to be a tough one but I think he’s played his last as a Twin. But that’s just my opinion.

    It wasn’t about whether or not he should be pulled. It was the assumption that there were personal differences going on that I was calling out. We don’t know that and is assuming facts not in evidence. It might be true, it might not but I find it a difficult assumption to reason with

    I guess I don’t see it. I get wanting to know the inter-personal stuff, because it is part of the equation. But it’s also not something that I will assume because we simply don’t know, so assumptions work against objectivity here. Assuming facts not in evidence is the phrase for me to use here. We don’t know what’s behind closed doors. Sonny was mad about being pulled after the 4th inning and wanted to keep pitching and let his manager know. I respect that. Maki and Baldelli made a decision and stuck to it. I respect that, too. Both went on to say, post-game, how they accepted what the other did. I respect that, too, and actually admire how they both addressed the situation. Maybe there is more to the story, maybe there is not. Many here want to make assumptions that support a bias they already have. It’s human, but it’s also something that will and should get called out for further explanation. Again, some of this speculation turns to fact for some individuals and again, I’ll use the phrase, assuming facts not in evidence, What I can’t respect in all of this is how the FO didn’t address the BP, and stated they wouldn’t be, in the off season and here we are. All of this becomes much less a thing if the BP does its job, but we don’t have enough pitchers who can do that.

    You stated: What does this mean, he has personal differences? Explain it then so I’m not misinterpreting. It sounds like you are saying he is pulling Gray over personal differences so I’m questioning what that means? I’m sorry you think I’m nitpicking, but I just find it odd, so help me out, please, and explain what you mean?

    So now Rocco has personal differences and that’s why he pulled Gray and not for Gray’s own performance? I mean, that sounds a tad invented to suit a narrative

    I think those takes are pretty much BS either way. We don’t know, personally, what’s in the hearts and minds of anyone. It’s just an easy go to or explanation for some when we lose or when a player does poorly or when the manager does something inexplicable to us. I get that some think it’s what they perceive, but still, it’s not a quality anyone can know unless they are personally acquainted with each member individually.

    Still, if your only reliable relievers are down, that really points a finger at how poorly constructed the BP is .., I’m tripling down on the FO being to blame for this 🙂

    What does ‘down’ mean? Sick? Sore? Unavailable? What? If we were that short then I double down on the FO not rostering a better BP.

    Win some, lose some. Someone on this site proclaimed we were going to get swept by both the Rays and the Jays. Well, part of that is true. This won’t be a popular post but I don’t put the blame on Rocco. Sure he could have gone with someone else, but I also don’t think it was wrong to give Pagán the 7, 8, and 9 hitter to get out. He’s had more good outings than bad this year. But I do blame the FO for saying they weren’t focussing on the BP at all during the off season. The manager can’t pitch the same guy every game. The FO needs to give the manager better options.

    They also held their own, imo, against the Dodgers. But they do need to start winning more of the close games to turn the tide. I think and hope they can as I do think they have a good team, albeit perhaps not great. They also can’t lose many to bad teams going forward. All I can say is ‘Go Twins’ and hope for the best.

    The Twins have, I'd say, held their own against better teams. So ... I think there is a lot to be said for this. The Twins do need more fierce competition. In lieu of that, I hope they find a way to give it to themselves because I don't think they have a bad team. (Doesn't mean I think the team is great, but that this team has always had potential, imo.)

    Agree. I like the idea behind the usage but yes, as you said, he has to be more efficient
