  1. DPs made, or GIDP? Because what I said above was for GIDP, which is what I thought you meant ... and I looked again, we passed the Cubs and are tied with the Phillies. Nats still lead.
  2. a paint ball to the face would really hurt ... and leave a mighty bruise ... but that would add to the face coloring
  3. He was scratched the other day because of soreness of some sort Edit: right abductor strain ... retroactive to May 7
  4. Lol ... reminds me of a 'Mommy, Mommy' joke I got from a joke book that I think was my older brother's ... Me: Mommy, Mommy, can I go play with Grandma? Mommy: Now, if you dig her up one more time ...!!! Okay, morbid ... but I used to laugh at that as a kid. Probably answers a lot of questions of me as an adult ... and maybe my familial relations as well ...
  5. How, exactly did he win this game by himself? When less than 3 runs are scored, that game was won by pitching and defense
  6. I'd actually like to see Miranda at 1st more often and Lewis at 3rd ... although I don't know how much 3rd Lewis has had, but that's if Correa is still with us next year
  7. Considering all the one-run games we lost last year, I’m not going to complain about a thing and anger the baseball gods. I hope you will atone and not ruin this streak! ?? (But I did nod off in the middle of that … mostly because I got up really early this morning and am tired)
  8. I don’t know if this changes your argument or not, but Duran came into the game when the score was tied 3-3, then gave up two solo shots. Bringing him into the game in high leverage situations is the place to use Duran, imo, whether or not it’s the 9th. Maybe a tie game isn’t high leverage enough to have used him then, but I think an argument could be made that it was. I’m 50-50 on that one. But I don’t like using Pagan as he was last night, that we, and most of us, agree on. I just don’t think your example of when Duran was used the other night enhances this argument.
  9. Oh come on, Mike. I’ve read a lot of your posts over the years, and you are way better than this. While I question the use of Pagan in these situations, they don’t put any of their players in any of their roles game to game, just to prove how good they are.
  10. This isn’t a Rocco thing, never was. And it isn’t just an organizational thing, never was. This is an MLB-wide thing, always was. We can hate it, but this is how the game is being played everywhere.
  11. Well, heck, I think I'd buy a ticket to see either of them for very different reasons. But right upfront, I want Correa to stick to the team longterm. Lewis converted to 3rd or OF.
  12. JINX!!! UNDO! UNDO! UNDO! <ptew, ptew, ptew>
  13. If this goes through and the SCOTUS does overturn Roe v Wade, expect states (like Texas) to take up other matters with the court hoping for more reversals. Texas' governor has already made statements hinting at same-sex marriage and public education.
  14. FYI, you have Winder twice and Ober none … were one of those Winders meant to be Ober? Maybe the first one?
  15. In this particular case we’ve heard from multiple pitchers on the team what they’ve been doing and why, and that it was at the suggestion/insistence of Gray. It’s unquantifiable if it’s made a difference either way, and maybe it has nothing to do with him being a ‘veteran presence’; he’s just one guy who had an idea and it seems to be working for this group of pitchers, who seem to have formed a little team within a team. But, as I’ve said here or elsewhere, the season is young, bad nights throw doubt into the mix, let’s wait and see the season through.
  16. Also, the season is young and Ryan is still a rookie. With the bp there, as you have stated, why risk it. The kid has been doing an impressive job, even through last night. While maybe not quite as sharp, this early in the season, there is no need to push it. Now, if this were August, I might think differently.
  17. So, I think more wins than I thought before, and selected the 80-89 choice. Then I went back to the original poll to see how I voted … and I voted the same way. But I think before I thought maybe 80 wins would be about right … more like 78-82 … just at .500 or not quite. But now I think we’ll be over .500 but at 85-89 wins. I still worry about the BP and starting pitching through an entire season, but am also hoping what we are seeing with a certain meshing and gelling will carry is over any dips in the road. Unquantifiable intangibles I think are a thing.
  18. That’s why I said I sort of agree and sort of don’t. But, you can’t deny that this group of pitchers has formed a very cohesive group, and that is partly at the insistence of Gray. But they also seem to all get along. Maybe last year they didn’t have the same plan in place. It’s not something you can quantify, and it’s certainly not something that I give all the credit to, but, I do think it’s part of the equation
  19. I hope the bp makes us all look bad for complaining
  20. I sort of agree, but I sort of don't. All the starting pitchers have mentioned in interviews how they have been kind of their own team within a team, watching each other's bullpen sessions, all open to suggestions and questions, and whatnot. All of them have mentioned this cohesiveness, this bond among them, boosting each other up and helping each other out. And that it started with Gray. He led this formation as I think he started watching the other pitchers' bp sessions and I think said they should all be watching each others' session. (At least I think I remember reading that or hearing that from somewhere.) So, I do give Gray some 'veteran presence' credit here. When he first got there, it was reported how the young pitchers gravitated toward him, to watch him, and watch his process. But, it's impossible to quantify the effect, but I think it has made a difference. But ... the season is yet young. We'll see come August/September how things are still going.
