  1. I don't think that's what he was saying at all. I think he's saying that that was the piece that came up first and it was a quick and easy thing to get done and out of the way to then focus on things of greater need. It wasn't a priority in that it was the most important need, but it was the priority because that's just what came up first.
  2. I don't think it was a matter of the Castro signing being a higher priority than a Dozier trade. I think that a free agent signing is just going to happen more quickly than a trade. If they had focused on a trade first, Castro likely would have signed elsewhere. The priority wasn't in that was what was most needed, but in the timing of how things unraveled and needing to get that done and out of the way to be able to focus on things that are more important.
  3. From my perspective, I just want a cure to pancreatitis.
  4. I think we need to get past the semantics debate on what is meant by 'strong.' It seems to me that article meant strong as not sitting on their hands waiting but getting started by doing what needs to get done, and doing exactly what Levi just said in his post above. I don't think 'strong' in the context of this article means we're heading for a ticker tape parade nor means we've done more or better than anyone else in the league. Let's try framing the discussion on if you like or don't like the moves made so far and what you hope to see coming yet instead of debating the qualifier 'strong.'
  5. Exactly, I think there is room for both sides of this discussion. What I find interesting is that they aren't being brought in for just one specific thing, as I think most former players are, and that they will also be doing a lot of learning. I see them more as a liaison between on-field and FO, and maybe more specifically between players and FO. I can see that being a good thing for defining needs and direction to have both sides ... in-field and off-field working together to find the best course. That said, I understand the voices saying 'outside opinions.' I've also been a strong proponent of this in the past and it's difficult to not also be skeptical as well as interested. So ... time will tell. I want to see what Falvey and Levine are building first before I come to any real bias for or against,
  6. There is a thread in the main forum that has that and there has been some discussion. Check it out here: http://twinsdaily.com/topic/24357-rule-5-draft/
  7. I never watched the first go 'round, I think I'll miss the second.
  8. You'd waste a lot less time if you just stayed out of the Sports Bar forum ... but then so would the rest of us, so keep it up!
  9. You've convinced me in the time here I've known you. How's that for opening my mind a bit?
  10. Get off the straw man crap (deleted posts) and stick to the topic. I understand the need to disagree and defend, but sometimes it's best to just ignore and let it go rather than take it down a path that leads to defensive bickering.
  11. Lost lost me well before the end.
  12. Okay, come on, guys, really. Quit being so dismissive of and disrespectful to one another. It gets so old. And I won't even get into how jacked this thread got, starting with post #2.
  13. Moderator note: 1. Please keep to the topic: domestic abuse/violence at the hands of professional athletes. We aren't talking about serial murderers and capital punishment. 2. Please do so respectfully, i.e. --Stop trying to control the discussion and let others have their say without being dismissive. --Stop with the tone and put downs when you disagree. It's a bit ironic that of all topics, I have to put up a note in this one. Control and put downs are part of the subject matter, so step back a bit and follow the above directions.
  14. Yeah, I'm not convinced of the series based on the first episode, but I'll watch another episode or two. However, I can't base my like or dislike on the success or lack of it of the movie which I haven't seen and likely won't. One of the best TV series of all time ... okay, IMO ... was, at best, a so-so movie: Buffy, the Vampire Slayer. So, you never know.
  15. I'm still waiting for 'Life in Pieces' to start their new season. It's the best comedy I've seen in a while.
  16. Lol, I didn't even really think about it although the issue did arise in that first episode. But as jimmer said there were reasons why it was them.
  17. I like Rachel Maddow for that.
  18. I didn't say it was good ... said it was interesting, but we'll see. I'm not really sure of either one of the 'time travel' shows, how it will work. Well, 'Timeless' is time travel ... good guys chasing bad guys through history as the bad guys try to change it and the good guys try to preserve it. But in the process of preserving it, it ends up changing a little so the good guy travelers come back to a slightly altered future. After one episode, not sure how altered or how, why ... if it's everything or just their own personal histories that get altered. 'Frequency' isn't really time travel, but the lead character living in the present somehow can talk to her father in the past on this ham radio. (Yeah, I know, contrived, they both are ... ) They are both cops ... he got killed in the past, on the job, while undercover and was labeled a dirty cop. She somehow talks to him in the past just days before he gets killed and she tells him how as she unearths some buried information on it. So, as you would expect, he manages not to get killed. Then you see a montage of her memories changing because her past changed as well as her present is now different. And she remembers both pasts. But then in her new past, her mother disappears; in her present they discover her body. So, the first episode ends where she finds her past self (before her mom disappears) on the ham radio and tells her to get the ham radio to her father, who is recovering in the hospital after not getting killed. Her father knows that he's somehow talking to his daughter in the future. Anyway ... not very good synopses, I don't make them sound at all interesting, but ... at the time I watched they held my interest. But as i said, I wouldn't yet call them 'good.' But interesting enough I'll likely tune in. If I remember when and what network they were on. And I hadn't even heard of them ... they just happened to be on while i was home channel surfing.
  19. I saw a couple of new shows recently. Modern takes on 'Time Tunnel' ... sort of. Not sure I'll keep up with them, but the pilots were semi-interesting. One was called 'Timeless' and the other 'Frequency.'
  20. Same spot, top right side ... there were two in a row ... I didn't get the first one, but here's the State Farm one ... video/audio ad ... and no way to stop or mute it:
  21. PM Brock Beauchamp. If you can get a screen shot, great; if not, let him know what position on the page it is and exactly what it's advertising. For future reference, a lot of these issues get brought up in the Questions About MinnCentric forum found here: http://twinsdaily.com/forum/13-questions-about-minncentric/ You can post any question or issue you have there.
