    And I don't think playing well since then is a coincidence, either. It can go either way. And yes, credit to them. Something lit a fire and I am merely suggesting that if certain things can be called 'coincidental' to dampen spirits, I think they can be fire lighters, too. And I'm not over valuing ... I think I was very clear in being a believer in 'It ain't over 'til it's over ... but I think looking at those teams and looking at possibilities ... I just don't think it's the year to put all our eggs into one basket or another ... I don't think taking all factors into account, and that being but one, is over valuing that one tidbit when there is more that goes into such decisions.

    I don't think it was overreacting at all. The Twins played very poorly against the best teams in baseball at that point, teams they will have to beat in the playoffs and the WS, should they make it that far. While still not impossible, the probability was nudged in not getting there. Then they played poorly against the A's, a NOT good team. While maybe some of us hoped they'd stay the course of small buying to help, I don't think it was as egregious as overreacting. I am a firm believer in 'it ain't over til it's over' and have a lot of back and forth on their quick unloading of Garcia, but I can't exactly fault them either. And who knows, maybe it's that move that lit the fire of 'We'll show them!'

    I checked his IMDb page and I don't think I've seen anything he's ever been in. No, I don't watch Modern Family. I've heard of it, of course, but haven't seen it. I don't really watch that much television, outside of a very few things.

    Although, listening to Counsell talk about that balk after the game, he basically said they've done this a lot, shifting and with men on third, but that maybe he could have gone out and talked to the pitcher to make sure his 'twitchiness' wouldn't get the better of him, that the runner wasn't really going anywhere. I guess that makes sense ... but ... I'm not sure I'd want to do that with a runner on third, particularly with certain runners who would use their energy to induce such a thing.

    It wasn't so much for 'wanting to trade' Rosario as it was looking for players who might be more expendable in order to get a return for good SP. I've always liked Rosario and don't want him traded, but, if we can net good pitching, that's the way it goes. But yeah ... he was certainly a gamer last night ... hitting in the tying run and scoring the winning run with his balk-inducing motions.

    Lol ... always fun reading the game thread after a come-from-behind win, and knowing the outcome as I read through.

    Mauer and Dozier are not the difference makers between winning and losing on this team. I think we can win with them.. I think both are adequate but not outstanding so I think the answer to the question lies more on who else is on the team.. But of course they would need to step it up, but so does everyone else around them, especially the pitchers.

    Speculation is one thing, and yes, that is what message boards are for. But the following quoted comment was not speculation; it was flat out saying Mauer wasn't in the line up because Mauer didn't want to play. That goes beyond speculation to me and every poster who responded to it. And you doubled-down by saying the following: "Is Mauer not capable of telling Mollie that he's available despite the tough lefty?" And another poster suggested Mauer needed to 'Man up.' Again ... these comments go beyond speculation to accusation in how they were stated and perceived. Why not just say, then, "I wonder, when these lineups are made, how much the players react to them, and actively try to have Molitor go a different direction? I mean, it would've been nice if Mauer could be stronger and assert himself with Molitor because we could have use him.' And who knows what was said or not by whom, as we don't know. No ... it's all directed at Mauer, and Mauer specifically, and never another. Seriously. It's Mauer baiting and nothing more. And I'm not even a big Mauer fan, not at all, but this one-sided kind of scapegoating gets old.

    And the steadfast need to blame him for everything is equally as nauseating, particularly in a thread that isn't about him but about the game last night. He does NOT share the blame with Molitor on this. Sorry, but lineup construction isn't Joe's responsibility and I'm tired about everything being Joe's fault when you or I have NO IDEA how it went down. If you knew first-hand Joe did nothing to try and be in the lineup, fine ... but you don't, and neither do I. So castigating blame is really people going out of their way to find a scapegoat.

    What must Gibby be thinking when this isn't the first time he's been given such a lineup. Yeah, I know, we all think he won't and shouldn't be around next year ... but I'd think you'd at least give your weakest pitcher some support.

    How do you know he didn't? Just because he's not playing? This lineup is Molitor's responsibility and Molitor's only. It's not even Joe's responsibility, leadership or otherwise to question it. And whether or not he did, you don't know. So stop with the Mauer baiting. Seriously.
