    I think the back up might be Grossman in the short term, Vargas or Park eventually. As I said, I think this roster is just a delay on making firmer decisions that impact actually losing players they may not yet want to lose, for whatever reason. But it's still ... what it is.

    I think they designed this roster in order to delay decision making on some of the players. And I'm not qualifying that as a bad or good thing ... yet.

    So, once Adrianza is off the DL, does he have a spot on the roster? In place of whom?

    Love? How about even like? All I can say in trying to have hope is that I hope a few of these guys are on a short leash and being given one last final 'Are we sure' look before replacing and removing them for prospects that should be up.

    They said there were 8 car trailers loaded. By the time I saw the five that were there, three had already departed.

    With the comment made by Gibson, 'It was just how Castro called the game' ... is this him saying he liked Gimenez as well, or was he confused and just commenting how the game was called? If the former, wondering if that's a signal that Gimenez is our backup catcher headed north? Or has that decision been made already and I missed it?

    Such a nitpick, but the Twins and Red Sox are cross-county foes as neither team is inside the city limits of Fort Myers. Boston used to be in City of Palms Park, but now both teams are in Lee County but neither inside the city limits.

    Well, the TD report above did say this: <shrug> I guess that says enough for me.

    You'll be waiting a long time methinks, if you think the FO is going to give a detailed report of why they made the decision they did. But who knows, they might choose to enlighten us thoroughly.

    It's not the number of games, it's the number of innings and pitches thrown. Just coming in as a reliever to pitch an inning or an out for a handful of pitches is not stretched out enough to be starting games on the ML level, and I have my doubts whether or not he can be in a week. Had he even started in a game? Gone even 4 innings at a time, let alone 5 or 6, up to 70 pitches? I don't know for sure what work he got in on the side, but he definitely hasn't done that in games. And while Hughes hasn't been good, Berrios hasn't really been either in smaller samples, despite the youth and upside. I'm not excited about this, I don't even like it, but imo being on team PR, while I don't blame him for being so, set him back for the start of the season. He made the decision for them. If Hughes never gets it together by the time Berrios is stretched out enough in AAA, then make the switch, as soon as possible. Now, if they choose Duffy over Mejia, that will make me far less understanding as well as not liking it.

    Hughes has pitched in a more games and has had many more innings, with both ML and MiL games.

    It's both a bummer and not unexpected given the lack of work the WBC provided.

    I'm not surprised about Berrios. Not sure how I feel about it yet, but I'm not surprised. I think the writing was on the wall with the lack of innings he was getting in the WBC. It's unfortunate a player is 'penalized' for wanting to represent his country in the tournament, but at this time of year I'm not sure what else can be done or expected. But that's a discussion for a different thread.

    I really don't understand how Kepler's play was not an error, or even possibly two. I guess they didn't rule the missed catch an error because it was 'difficult' to begin with. And I guess that throw wasn't an error because the runner didn't advance, but there was a lot amiss with that.

    Only proposed. I don't think the players' union agreed to that one.

    This is Buxton's game, this is how he plays, this is why he's the defender he is. If he is anything less than that he's just like everyone else, or maybe less so if all he does out there is 'be careful.' Yeah, it's scary, but for me in a good way; yeah, he's an injury waiting to happen and I don't want to think about the Twins without him. But this is his game and how he plays it. Asking him to play a different game is as bad as asking hitters and pitchers to adjust to styles of play that make them less than they could be.

    And then done. I don't think he'll pitch again.

    Yeah. This pretty much. For me I'd like them both, but if it's one or the other, who is most ready Apr. 1. That may not be Berrios. Then whoever it's not, I'd like them up at the first opportunity.

    Santana doesn't seem able to make it through a game without some kind of an error or misplay. I wouldn't call that adequate at all. I wouldn't be unhappy (or surprised) if Mejia supplanted Berrios as the 5th starter with Berrios coming up at the first opportunity. We'll have to see how he is after coming off the WBC (when it's over) not pitching to decide. If he's not up to opening day speed, then so be it.

    Sounds fun. Too bad I live out of town. But you can look for me in the crowd at the game against the White Sox.

    Today I still have the flowers, but the others are all different ... Allstate, Spectrum internet, Nissan, American Red Cross ... interesting as I have not done any 'internetting' on insurance, internet, cars or donations. And, further, I don't use Allstage or Spectrum internet, don't drive a Nissan and never have, nor do I donate to the Red Cross. Oh, and I go to a local flower shop when I want to send flowers.
