  1. It doesn’t sound like it, but I hope this doesn’t become the reason we lost Chargois.
  2. Taking my Mom to see ‘Early Man’ for hopefully some Wallace and Grommet like humor.
  3. As much as Levi is being cautioned about arguing against things no one said, I’ll caution you as well. The majority of people here are in in-between land. You seem to have an all or nothing take, which is fine, it’s your opinion. But if others want to take a more tempered road that is acceptable as well and there is no need to say they are being unconditionally fanatical about it. Agree to disagree short of the implied name calling, please. That last sentence is for everyone.
  4. Or what they’ve tried isn’t working because of things in the article Craig posted earlier and they are chalking it up to him not trying, or whatever, instead of their own lack of fully understanding the issues, specifically the manager. As I’ve said I don’t give Sano a full pass but I can’t and won’t at this time lay it all at his feet, either, as many are so wont to do.
  5. This is a very interesting study. It makes me wonder if those with a genetic predisposition of being leaner have difficulties understanding those whose genetic predisposition is, well, larger. They can’t understand the difficulties in maintaining and losing weight because it’s never been difficult for them and then chalk it up to the person with difficulties not trying hard enough which leads to all sorts of messages of ‘We’re just not getting through to him,’ or ‘He’s not taking his profession seriously enough.’ I’m not saying that I give Sano a pass to go out and load up, but I wonder if our lines of what’s reasonable in his case are just off. When I saw him at drills, he just didn’t look as bad as some are making him out to be. Yes, I think he needs to catch up with some of his conditioning and maybe trim down some, but I don’t think he’s egregiously out of shape and/or overweight. Maybe where you’d expect him to be after recovering from surgery. Wasn’t the initial timeline on that going to run into ST anyway? But I don’t know what he has and hasn’t been doing to at least help his case. So I don’t give him a complete pass. But it worries me the comments Molitor is making. Not from the standpoint of Molitor really trying the help Sano, but worried he’s ready to write him off because he can’t relate.
  6. And that video was a very accurate view of how he looked doing infield drills yesterday, as I said earlier.
  7. Have to say seeing him in person he didn’t seem as overweight as what I was expecting after reading some of the comments here. Yes, I think he could be leaner and yes, I think there needs to be some conditioning. I’ll give half a pass to that because his injury didn’t allow for him to work on things as much as we would have hoped during the off season. But I am concerned about the other I won’t give half a pass to, him. He’s 24 and I’ll give that a little bit more time, but I do think he needs to make some choices sooner rather than later on who he wants to be as a player as others have alluded to. And after seeing him today, man, he’s just one big dude with huge thighs, but not hugely overweight.
  8. Saying that it was a good trade isn't making it one-sided. I, frankly, don't really care what Tampa got out of it, we didn't give up a lot to get what I think is better than what we've had. That's improvement at a good cost, imo. Yeah, Odorizzi could really suck this year and Palacios could rock it ... or the opposite could happen. I'm not going to rate the trade today what could be tomorrow. Of course, when tomorrow gets here, I might rate the trade today differently. But for right now, I think it quite okay.
  9. I don't think we fleeced them ... and I haven't seen that from very many posters, in fact I think I read those words from one or two, and good for them on their opinion, so it is by far from a lot ... but I call it a win because we got something that makes us stronger without giving up much from the perspective of our own system. While we didn't get a front-end starter, which I think we need to make it deep into the playoffs, Odorizzi will slot well for us and be better than most of the 4-5s we put out there last year. Shoring up the back end of the rotation does make us stronger, albeit not strong enough. This was a good trade. And what we gave up is our 4th best SS prospect. Palacios was never going to be a starting ss for us because we have better. So I call it pretty even and good for us.
  10. Still, does it matter whether or not they truly believe it? Even if true, that he's better than any of us project and they see something no one else does, he's still behind Lewis, Gordon and Javier in our system. I think it was a good 1 for 1 trade. We got a better pitcher than what we've slotted into our 4-5 positions last year and they got a prospect they value. Win - win. Yes, he's not the front-end starter the team needs, imo, but he will slot in better than some of the 4-5s we put out there last year. So while it's not addressing what I would say it our top need, it does address a need, imo. It will strengthen the starting rotation, albeit not the levels we ultimately will need.
  11. I'm not sure how that one works ... it's not a guaranteed contract, so maybe he doesn't take a roster spot until he makes the team? Someone else will have to clarify that for me.
  12. I'm okay with this ... especially after yesterday's move ... but I still think it's not the pitcher we need, but will be better than some of the 4 and 5s we put out there last year. I'm not sure I'd say he's a front of the rotation pitcher as indicated above, but will slot well for us. We'll see ...
  13. I only have 2 of them, plus the Gardy gnome ... and I have them on display with a couple of baseballs, one signed by Tony O, and an old-time hat and a batting helmet signed by Hunter, Jones and Stewart. That's pretty much it for memorabilia. I'm not a collector ... I just happened to come by those things. But I think you need to build a high shelf around the perimeter of your living room or game room, and start putting them up one by one ... of course that means you will have to collect them for the rest of your life.
  14. You should work those into the original articles ... I find it interesting how much you all agree/disagree and I think is interesting information to include.
  15. Well, better than polar bear or alligator.
  16. Yeah, I’m rowing off and leaving you to deal with that.
  17. Yeah ... that's truly the one I can't figure out. No.
  18. There will still be Darvish threads to read (or ignore). Three so far today have been started ...
  19. As much as many didn’t want Yu for 6 years, I’m not sure I’d want any of those for 4 years. And I especially don’t want Arrieta for even 3. I think he’s on a very fast decline. Maybe 2 with an option, but definitely not guaranteed. You’re right that Archer is going to cost way too much. Eh, I just don’t know. I’m really not at all surprised Yu went elsewhere, but we really need front-end help ... that’s really not any of those left. I’d rather look for really short-term deals and hope someone steps up.
  20. Really? There's a zip line across the Mississippi? Seems foolish for something you can just walk across in about 10 steps knee-deep. http://www.lakesnwoods.com/images/LakeIt78.jpg
  21. Yeah ... I'd have to see what we'd be offering and what everyone would sign for. I was always a Napoli fan in his heyday, but if it meant we would sign Darvish, I'd do a one-year, reasonable amount deal for him. But not sure where I'd put him ... I guess bench bat/DH ... can he even play 1st anymore? Guess he'd be a back up there? And if we signed him, I guess Vargas would lose his spot? I can't even think of the roster shuffling. It just seems like a piece we don't need. But ... for Darvish ... don't know. Again, I'd have to see the deals and numbers involved.
  22. x 1000. Ugh. If we end up with Odorizzi and are without Kepler this year because of a trade with the Rays, I can't even express my thoughts on that.
