    I think it's as much a stretch as people thinking it deserves the same respect as our National Anthem. Do you stand for every patriotic song you hear?

    Eh ... as a song, I don't particularly like that one, either ... lol ... yes, I'm a music snob. But I think 'America, the Beautiful' is a beautiful song. Would gladly sing along to that. But I'd likely not stand, or maybe to stretch my legs, because it is the 7th inning stretch

    When people stand for GBA, I actually think it's a HUGE disrespect to our actual National Anthem. HUUUUUUGE. So, yes, I'll stay seated and if anyone wants to ask me, I'll tell them that, that they are the ones being disrespectful.

    It's not the anthem. It's actually making a stink over it by asking anyone to stand for a song that is patriotic in nature, but is not our anthem, not even close. If you want to stand, stand. If someone else chooses not to, let them. It might have meaning to you, but not to someone else, because it's not our National Anthem. It's a song written by Irving Berlin, and, from a musical standpoint, not even that great of a song. I cringe every time I hear it because I hate it. Woody Guthrie 'mocked' it when he wrote 'This Land Is Your Land.' Now, 'America, the Beautiful', that's a lovely song. But, it's still not our anthem. It just lands in the same genre with the myriad other of patriotic songs, which no one is obligated to, or should be shamed to, stand for. Imo.

    You just have to watch news that is actually billed as news, straight news, and not news entertainment. I still find the national news from ABC, NBC and CBS worthy, although I watch those outlets less and less. I usually listen to NPR. BBC is pretty good, and if you get CBC (in Canada), both of those provide a bit better global perspective. I used to watch PBS MacNeil/Lehrer Hour. That was good. But I tend to go for written word news these days.

    Lol ... I read that as 'Chief's Kiss' ... And ... I tried to listen to that video you posted to the thread, really tried, tried to keep an open mind, but just couldn't take it and shut it down after 30 seconds. And now I have to eat breakfast again. Like the lineup ... it's a good lineup to put in just before a break. Hope we get the split because ... well ... more than anything ... I HATE LOSING TO THE CHISOX!

    I don't know the whole story, but it appears that in the renovation, the wheelchair accessible seats were moved into locations with sightline issues. It's more involved than that, so I'm not making light of this, at all.     Alternative viewpoints are fine; critical viewpoints are fine; hopeful viewpoints are fine. Incessant negativity just to be contrary isn't a viewpoint, and it's not being pragmatic, it's trolling. Keep that in mind.

    Well ... I'd agree with that, too ... but then it just falls back to the FO for not doing enough to shore up the BP before the trade and then made it even worse

    My issue isn't with the trade, and still isn't. At that time and place, I'd probably still do it. HOWEVER, I would have also worked to find better arms for the pen. That's the issue I have. Not that the FO traded Rogers, but that they did nothing to boost the pen and relied on Duffey and Pagan. Especially knowing the starters they had. Yes, Duran has worked out, but he was a rookie, and Jax has worked out. But that's not something that I think anyone could have counted on to start the season. And even then, we were still short higher quality arms. The lack of other moves is what makes the trade so glaring and why people hammer on the 'They traded away Rogers!' song over and over. Not because people think Rogers is Mariano (I don't think anyone has made that claim, and if they do, they are wrong) but because the FO did nothing to solidify a questionable BP.
