  1. Yeah. And if it were for more than one start they likely would have worked to line it up in a particular way. It’s kind of nice, though, wanting to see a couple of the pitchers rather than choosing the least awful.
  2. Not that I want to squelch this discussion, but before it goes too far down the political, racist, sleep aid discussion, it might be best to jump it to one of the other threads. But yeah, concur with all that’s been said on the subject.
  3. Don’t question it. Just go with it. I like cashews.
  4. To clarify what 'no negativity' means in game threads, as it certainly doesn't mean be positive all the time, because, yuck ... I mean who wants to say, 'Yipppeeee!!!! Our pitcher gave up a grand slam! Yay! I'm so happy!' ... Watch the game, comment on the game, shake your head about whatever, get excited about whater, say ****! ****! ****! about whatever, say 'YESSSS!' about whatever, be critical about manager choices as they happen (and not as a retrospective for all time), be depressed if we lose, give kudos when good things happen, and eat chicken when we win ... but stay away from pre-determination of awfulness before it happens, or turning the game thread into an ongoing discussion about why so and so is still on the team and how awful they are, or the FO should've done this or that, or over-exagerating when something bad happens as EVERYTHING is bad. We have many discussion threads on many topics ... if you want to go on and on about a particular topic, topic threads are the place for it. Game threads are for real time, real action, at-the-moment discussion, good or bad, not an unloading of should've, would've, could've about the existance and state of the current Twins, and not to vomit all over the place. We ALL know where the Twins are at, we all SHARE the frustration. Game threads are not here to foster the misery, but rather have one place where we don’t dwell in it. And if you want to throw in stupid jokes along the way (Chief), or talk about Dick's ties (new member bashbury), or what you're grilling/grilled today (yes, we all know it's chicken but elaborate), or what you're baking while watching the game ... levity and side bars about nothing will either make the good better or the bad tolerable. That's what game threads are for.
  5. River Phoenix died many years ago. Sorry to inform you.
  6. 6 innings pitched and 'only' 3 ER is considered a quality start by definition. While I wish Gibson were sharper yesterday, like we've seen him be this year, I'll take that start over a blowout. If our back of the rotation starters can limit themselves to 3 ER I'm good with that. We didn't lose that game because of Gibson. We lost because our offense failed to show up ... again.
  7. No, Nick got it exactly right. Carter is Sano’s future if he doesn’t make a change to his present.
  8. The inference was that because of that answer he (apparently) does not like to work on hitting. I’m sorry but I think that inference was way off. Buxton answered one question ... game saving catch or game winning home run. That is not asking if you prefer catching balls to hitting balls ... it was a very specific question about one catch vs one at bat, not asking about an overall like or dislike for any portion of his game. Even if he did have a preference over all, it still doesn't mean he doesn't like the other or didn't like to work on it. And the inference came from someone who has a very long history of having a low opinion of Buxton and his talents. Does Buxton need to work on hitting? Of course he does and most have said so. Even I’ve said he needs to get it going or he won’t get far. But we don’t know what he’s working on or not, what his approach is, what his like or dislike is for putting in that work. All we know is he’s far from there and Hope solutions are coming. There is no denying he’s God’s gift to center field, but he needs to find a way to get the other part going if this team is going to have the success we’ve all been hoping for.
  9. Yeah ... I see NO REASON he couldn't have taken Petit's place in AAA ... it wouldn't be forever if he's not quite there. But man ... give him a taste of the next level and see what he does with it. I just don't get that, but then, I'm not close up on the ground to the situation. Maybe those closer in want his moveups, when made, to be permanent. <shrug>
  10. I am actually more disappointed in the decisions surrounding Gordon. I get that he didn't finish well in AA last season and that they don't want to throw him into the mix in the Bigs yet. But when Petit moved up, I really wish they had moved Gordon up to AAA. When it's time for Sano to return, if Gordon isn't handling the move up well, then move him back when Petit has to be moved back. And if he's doing well, great. I really want him primed because Polanco returning in good form isn't necessarily a given.
  11. Okay ... I'm calling you out on this and am going to tell you to stop. It is a looooooooong way from that answer to 'what he does not like to work on (apparently)'. There is no apparently in that whatsoever. A game saving catch or a game winning home run? Man, I'd have a difficult time choosing between which way I could be a hero to the team ... on the field or at the plate. I'd bet if you gave him the option he'd have said 'Both.' But still ... do not make that leap to an unfounded conclusion because you will find yourself leaping but not reaching the other side and falling into nothingness. That said, yes, I am frustrated with his bat and he needs to get it going and sustain it or he is nothing but an over-hyped prospect that really never got there. I'm not sure when to give up on that, but I'm not going to make conclusions that sound more like accusations about what he is or isn't working on or more to the point, the implication that he doesn't care enough about it, as that is something you don't know. Yeah, I get it ... maybe he's not because there are the results but there could be other reasons for that. So be careful about those leaps into a player's character, because that's what you've done.
  12. It’s cold here tonight. Around 50 degrees. Brrrrrrrrrr!
  13. Why would Miami do that? That would be a horrible trade for them, imo.
  14. Yes ... just for everyone to be clear ... John didn't quite post this correctly and this was written by heezy1323, our resident expert on such matters, and not by John Bonnes. In case others didn't already see/read it, heezy posted it to his blog yesterday and it was promoted to an article today. So if you have questions, direct them to heezy and not John.
