  1. You know, as I said above, very impressed with Sano’s actions in this little blip of a dust up. A few years ago people were saying some pretty horrible things about him and his intentions toward the game and I always said that he needed to mature. He has certainly turned that corner and his immediate response of getting Romo out of there and talking to Lindor ... as I said, impressed. And for me, that’s what should get attention in all of this.
  2. Eh ... hard to judge these things ... don't know what was said between them, although that really doesn't matter. Romo is an intense guy, pumped up on adrenalin, that's part of the make up. Although, he dishes it, he should learn to take it, too. But ... don't really know what's what between the two of them. Stuff like this happens in the heat of the game ... just glad it didn't result in any actual punches being thrown and calmer heads prevailed. I still find it completely idiotic to see the bullpens come running into the fray, though. Just idiotic. But ... I was actually the most impressed with Sano. The big dude just hawls up Romo and gets him out of there instantly. And, impressed that everyone seemed to go the 'settle down' route before things got out of hand. All in all, all's well that ends well, so don't know what the big deal really is.
  3. That would be a long run from Chicago ... and my running days are behind me now by a far distance
  4. Yeah, I get what you're saying ... I just don't agree with your conclusions. That's all.
  5. Uh, no we mustn't assume anything. I mean, if that's all you conclude, that's you, but it's not at all how I conclude things. How I took it ... hmm ... I think of it more as a day of reflection. It doesn't mean everything is fine, at all, either before or after. But we are being asked to think on it. They took a day to say, 'Hey ... we need to all start thinking about these things and maybe, just maybe, that can lead to somewhere.' Rome wasn't built in a day and I highly doubt that those are the only two choices of conclusion that either it's all okay or they didn't mean it. If that's all you conclude, well, okay ... that's your right. But no, it's not at all what I conclude when they are back playing now. I took the time to read articles and resources, trying to outline ... how might I help? But because there is baseball today, doesn't mean it's all just miraculously okay. And it doesn't mean I'll go back to not trying to do better today. But that's me and what I think.
  6. This is our comment policy: http://twinsdaily.com/topic/8228-twins-daily-comment-policy/ It might clear up a lot of questions you have about the site and what we are about. If you have further suggestions, questions or concerns about content, we have a forum specifically for those questions and comments, called 'Questions about MinnCentric': http://twinsdaily.com/forum/13-questions-about-minncentric/ Further, you can make your feelings known by PMing ownership directly. The owners are: John Bonnes Brock Beauchamp Parker Hageman Nick Nelson Seth Stohs If you have questions about policies or 'how to's' or other concerns, you can contact a moderator. They are listed in the Comments Policy. (I am one.) But filling up a discussion thread with complaints about that particular subject matter is really, truly counter-productive and is off topic and considered thread jacking. Your continued complaints in this thread, when I've outlined the proper outlets, will be removed. If you want to comment on the subject matter, agree or disagree, do so. But if all you want to do is complain about the subject matter, saying it shouldn't be here, we have many, many, many other threads in which to discuss baseball only. If you want an off-topic area, that would be the Sports Bar Forum, found here: http://twinsdaily.com/forum/12-the-sports-bar/ Keep in mind, specific political discussion ... i.e. elections, candidates, legislation ... are not permitted. We don't consider issues of humanity to be political issues ... until someone makes them so signaling toward a left or right agenda ... those posts are given little leeway and too far astray, removed. We also have forums to discuss football, basketball and hockey. Sorry soccer fans, you'll have to use the Sports Bar forum.
  7. Game info ... it's in rain delay ... but when it gets up and running, join us in the game thread! http://twinsdaily.com/topic/40260-double-header-game-thread-twins-tigers-1210pm-cdt-8282020ad/?do=findComment&comment=983860
  8. And if anyone actually wants to watch a game and comment on the game and commune with others watching the game ... the game thread is up and running here: http://twinsdaily.com/topic/40260-double-header-game-thread-twins-tigers-1210pm-cdt-8282020ad/ EDIT: oops ... rain delay
  9. I'm going to try and reiterate what I said at the top of the thread ... human decency isn't liberal or conservative points of view, or shouldn't be, it should be both, not an either/or. Justice, equality, fairness ... these are issues of human decency and respect. The minute we start labeling things as 'liberal' or 'conservative', we've drawn a political line and many us automatically gravitate toward one or the other. When we do that, we are doing a disservice to these issues, because the issues get lost in the left vs right bantering that happens. The poster you quoted was quoting another poster as saying 'the liberal clubhouse' ... the poster who labeled the clubhouse as liberal drew that political line. I don't think the clubhouse is liberal or conservative by taking the stance they did. These are issues of human decency and the 'left/right' finger pointing and labeling needs to not be part of the discussion.
  10. This was wonderful, Mike. thank you. I, too, have been growing so weary and my hope is almost gone. The hate has always been there ... but it's been stoked and cultivated and is encapsulating too many ...
  11. You can. Unlike it, then like it again. Rinse, wash, repeat until you’ve liked it 100 times ... or more. I’m not sure ad infinity is enough ...
  12. That was an owner who locked the thread in the other forum. And yes, I'd say there was some veiled racism going on ... many posts were removed. But we have this thread now, so there was no need for two. AND THIS IS ANOTHER MOD NOTE: KEEP IT CIVIL!!!! Agree or disagree with the action, but do so without belittling others' opinions, whether it be players, managers, FO, other posters, owners, etc. And if you can't express an opinion about human decency, justice and fairness without pointing political fingers ... DON'T. POST. I'm tired of hearing about the cancel culture, leftist agenda, righty whitie stuff ... DON'T. GO. THERE. I'm tired of every issue becoming a debate drawn along political lines. There is no reason to make issues of human existence into 'we vs them' rants.
  13. It wasn't so many years ago that I'm sure the Tigers would have liked to have added a grand slam to their score before the Twins scored 7 runs in the bottom of the 9th to walk off win the game. It happens. You don't take a large score for granted. And if it is going to bother the Rangers, then perhaps they should have conceded the game before then. It's not about courtesy at all ... it's about scoring runs to win a game. And yeah, the score was already lopsided ... but it ain't over 'til it's over. Continuing to add runs is not discourteous. Hitting a home run is not discourteous. You don't want hitters to hit? Pitch better. You don't want to lose the game? Play better. Stuff happens. Play to the end or give up and go home.
  14. Maybe the Rangers should have forfeited the game before then if it's so bad for them
  15. That’s way better than the Dozier hair flip from years ago
  16. I love Romo. He’s a real gamer. Wonder if he’ll be cooking up any antics from the BP tonight? I’d really like to be a fly on the wall there tonight.
  17. Parker, you hit every, single point exactly correct. It's not about being offensive or offending ... it's clearly not that at all. It's about being inclusive. The offense seems to come into play when anyone suggests being inclusive ... even in the most minor ways. That baffles me. If you think the logo is no big deal, then how is it a big deal to change it in the most minor way possible that could be impactful?
