  1. We traded with them last year and it worked out okay
  2. This was on TD's FB page ... "Hi friends. Earlier we briefly published (and quickly deleted) a story suggesting Luis Arraez had been traded to Miami. You probably didn't see it, but we still wanted to quickly explain and apologize. Our site policy is to write article "shells" for rumors we feel have legs, so we can quickly update and publish when news breaks to let people start discussing right away. In this case, when the Christian Vázquez signing broke, we accidentally published the wrong story, then corrected the error. The Arraez/Marlins rumors aren't exactly a secret, but we have no reason to believe such a trade is imminent or set to happen at all. Again, we apologize for the miscue and will make sure it doesn't happen again. Thank you!"
  3. try living in downtown Chicago .,. I’m looking forward to returning to the Twin Cities and some room! ?
  4. Oooh ... Christmas is coming ...
  5. All fair. But I think the Twins have shown they are willing to go out and get players. They made some trades last year that we were mostly all excited about ... until we weren't because of injuries. Imo, go in on Correa, trade for a SP that is as good or better than Mahle, get a better BP piece or two ... that's a good commitment to show Correa. But, if it's truly only about money, then he may take the deals with the other places ... we'll see how high it goes. I'm not worried about not spending more in FA as many others are here are angsty about (I do NOT want to go all in and above for Rodon, for example) ... but I do want to see some trading before I start whining about the off season.
  6. I guess you and I look at rebuild differently. Imo, the team should always be looking to trade and acquire, no matter where they are. If you are rebuilding, you are trading off vets for prospects, when you are contending, you are trading off prospects for proven players, or trading proven players for better proven players. So, I don’t think what the Twins have done last year or this qualify as rebuild to me. That said, if Correa wants to avoid that, I think the Cubs are in a worse position as the Twins. And I also think he wants to make sure that the acquisitions made are to continue to contend vs selling off pieces for prospects for some future contention time years from now
  7. I'm sorry, but Rogers was far from proven, imo. He had never been truly consistent and was coming off injuries. That's not to say I approved the trade (although I did at the time, if they had done more to then address the BP, that was always my concern). But Rogers, imo, was never a proven closer. And we are way better off than the Cubs are right now. So, it will be interesting, if the Cubs offer the most money and/or years, what he does.
  8. Last minute is waiting until the day before the season starts. We are a long ways yet from it being last minute. And sometimes it's not the Twins waiting out the market, but the market waiting itself out
  9. Well, I can sometimes relate ... if we are being honest ... but I mean that in the nicest possible way. (Because I don't always get it. This time I did, though.)
  10. The price will be way too high for Rodon. I say skip Rodon, get Correa, then work on a trade for a starter and get a couple of BP arms. Paying for pitching is way more risky than a position player and 6 yrs for Rodon won't be worth it. We are far better off with Correa for 10-11 yrs.
  11. I'm fine with the Yankees way over paying for Rodon
  12. Then that leaves out the Cubs. They are in a far worse position than the Twins.
  13. Personally, I wasn't as intrigued by Senga as others here and am fine not signing him. And I don't think we should be signing Rodon, either. I think what the market will give Rodon is way riskier than signing Correa to 10-11 yrs. Most pitchers do not outlast position players. The way to better starting pitching has always been and always will be through development and trade. The Twins will never spend on FA starting pitching, mostly because of the years involved. And I'm okay with that philosophy. However, I do think they need to be better at identifying trade candidates. Seems that they are really counting on Mahle to have a better, healthier year and Paddock, too, when he returns. Hoping Joe can take a step further forward. But we do need another starter as good or better than Mahle, who I think is probably our best starter barring injury and someone else just having an insane career year. A trade is where it's at, not a signing. And if it takes Arraez to get a good pitcher, it takes Arraez. The other thing I'm concerned with is the BP. That is where I want to see some activity. We likely won't until we sign Correa; or don't.
  14. I wish I did make the decision in this case … you wouldn’t like me for it, though … ?
  15. And I won’t be persuaded otherwise, either, and feel it would be a huge mistake not to sign him for as many reasons I’ve stated over the months. We are at an impasse ?
  16. Who can tell that of any player out there, though. Lee or Lewis could get hurt, too, and not be what we expect them to be. I mean ... every single player could get hurt (and almost was last year). Making decisions based on 'but they could get hurt' will never get you anywhere. Always playing for the future with prospects will not get you anywhere, either. So your answer is, never give out a big contract and hope for the prospects? I just disagree that that is a good philosophy in this case. And the comparison with the Angels and Pujols ... the Angels spend to spend and do it stupidly. Was it silly for them to give Trout what he got? Players get hurt and players age. But you take on the contract for who they are right now. I guess I'm not as confident as others that Lewis or Lee will come even close to what Correa is right now, or would even be adequate for what we need now. We aren't going to get Rodon ... now, there's where I think spending on years is a bad idea. Pitchers are not as durable as position players. Also, Pujols was what ... 4 years older when he signed with the Angles than Correa is now.
  17. Yep. We see trade scenarios on these pages frequently that are quantity of our fringe players for a quality/star player on another team. It doesn't work that way. Never has, never will. You have to give to get.
  18. Lol ... you are comparing Correa to Pujols? And that wasn't my question. Seriously ... how do you guarantee Lewis or Lee to become the next Pena?
  19. This isn't news. This is a rumor. Hence the title ... 'RUMOR'. Discuss or not.
  20. Thus far uncorroborated, reports have begun swirling the Twins and Marlins may be in talks to make a trade with the core pieces being established MLB players: starting pitcher Pablo Lopez and Luis Arraez (certainly with more coming from the Twins than just the batting champion). Lopez would be a step up from anyone currently in the Twins organization and is under team control for two more seasons. The 26-year-old right-hander had a solid season in 2022 but was an elite arm as recently as 2021. What would you give up to acquire Lopez? View full rumor

  22. Okay ... so ... how do you guarantee Lewis or Lee to become the next Pena? And if they don't become that, what then? I really dislike this philosophy of putting our eggs into a basket that is completely unproven. It could prove to be steady, but it more likely will prove to be unstable and lands broken eggs all over the sidewalk. A Correa contract will NOT hamstring us. With so many young players on the roster, a new TV deal around the corner, the rising cost of doing business, the smart money is to sign Correa and IF either Lewis or Lee become something, they slot in in another position, or they become trade bait for quality pitching and not has been pitching. I think we need to stop putting our eggs into the 'if' basket of prospects.
