  1. Yeah ... I'm not certain that if Swanson remains, maybe just go with what we have?
  2. It almost seems as if this could be decided in the next week …
  3. Whiners are wieners … and we have some miserable wieners on TD

Of course not ... but sometimes it's worse than others :)

But, it’s already Dec. 12 (Dec. 7 when you wrote). It’s time to panic. The sky is falling. Pencil us in for 70 wins. We might as well trade Buxton…

Ooops, just signed Narvaez, so never mind. But if they don’t sign Correa by Tuesday, here we go again…

  4. I have hopes for Correa, though. And I don't think we are small market, either, and dislike that argument. We are mid-market, and I think pretty much most people here know that. But that still doesn't mean we can or should go insane. I have no qualms signing a position player to a big, long contract, like Correa. But I agree with not signing a pitcher to the same. The way pitchers pitch today, they do not last that long. What DeGrom got was insane, and, imo, irresponsible. No way if I were an owner would I have allowed that. I wouldn't have even signed Rodon to that and he will want, and probably get, more. That said, we do need to be better at developing what we need. Or better at identifying and trading for it. As long as we aren't filling the rotation with Happs and Shoemakers, we'll be fine ... but spend on quality relief arms, then. That is a workable formula.
  5. I never expected them to go after or sign top FA pitching. And after seeing what DeGrom got? Yeah, nope, not happening. I'm still hoping for Correa, though ...
  6. I’d do it. For frontline pitching? In a heartbeat. It would be a tough deal but I’d still do it
  7. Proper English is rumour. Just saying
  8. I’ve said all along front end starting pitching … we aren’t signing that. But to go get high end relief pitching
  9. Um ... was this actually stated? That he plans to sign last of them all? Or did you mean to put an if in there. Being the last to sign last year didn't do him any favors. Can't imagine he'd want his agent to play that game which is why the first agent is gone.
  10. I was down there right following the hurricane. Devastating to say the least. At the time I was there people were just trying to dig out and figure out what to do. Driving in I passed the stadium. Huge long line up of cars to get into the complex to get food and water.
  11. At the time, I didn't particularly like losing Baddoo, but, it was the correct choice given how many were ahead of Baddoo, so it was okay for me. But I really felt that losing Wells was the costly one. I think this article was slanted to get a rise out of those who were 'irate' at losing Baddoo.
  12. Who cares about TwinsFest? What I want to know is ... will there be a MeltDown this year??? ? I need a new pint glass! @John Bonnes, well?
  13. The TV contract expires after the 2023 season. This is partly why I think they can go after Correa. Surely they can and will do better with a new TV deal.
  14. Thank you for this personal perspective. It's a side that we rarely get to know in these situations and are quick to assume and judge based on very limited knowledge.
  15. Because we can't compete with the Mets, Yankees, Phillies, Dodgers and Astros for his services
  16. No ... they signed Jair. That was misreported.
  17. Mod note: Please stick to the topic. Thanks.
  18. Interesting. But ... I still am hoping that Farmer will not be our starting SS, as a placeholder or otherwise.
  19. That’s not what I asked and what was stated. What SS is available who is just as good and costs less. I get the quantity over quality argument you are making but that wasn’t my question
  20. I don’t think that’s enough to get the deal done but we’ll see, hopefully sooner than later
  21. So what player is just as good that will cost us less?
  22. I think he's earned the respect to be considered a starter until he's not. While I get that his innings may need to be managed, it will be 18 months post-surgery by the time ST rolls around.
  23. I like them overall. Not a fan of the M, but don’t hate it, either. Everyone always asks me what the TC stands for. That annoys me more than whatever style M is on the caps. Mostly I don’t care as long as the baby blues are gone. They always looked like pajamas to me. But mostly I don’t care because I’m more concerned with who’s wearing the uniforms. But I think the hype of ‘rebranding’ is always silly no matter who or what it is. That said, I enjoyed the fashion show.
