  1. I'm guessing they keep Morton. Harper rejected a huge contract at the end of the year from the Nats, so he is going elsewhere more than likely. Meanwhile, C.C. re-upped with the yanks. Kind of hard to not to route for him, if you're a yankee fan or not.
  2. A change of scenery might be what Gray needs. Unfortunately, I think it would take more than just Kepler to get him. He had a rough year, but still flashes ace stuff. Definitely worth looking into!
  3. I have him as our #5 after we trade for Realmuto
  4. Thank you to everyone for posting your blueprints-they are a lot of fun to look at. I am not a very smart human being, so I am going to list my plan without the exact numbers. So here we go. *Trade* I've gone back and forth with this, but ultimately decided that the juice would be worth the squeeze. We give up a boatload to get 2 years of Realmuto, because it is going to take a boatload to get him. Twins receive Realmuto for Gordon, Gonsalves, Romero and Kepler FA Signings: We get outbid on Cruz, Donaldson, Miller and the top SPs. IF: Daniel Murphy 2/28 Util: Marwin Gonzalez 3/42 RP: Adam Ottovino 3/39 RP: Zach Britton 2/30 SP: Garrett Richards 2/10 Not sure how much Realmuto will make the next 2 years, but all in all, we spend about $61 million in FA. Richards is our "Pineda signing." Extensions: We buy low on Buxton and Sano, at the same time showing them that we want them as a big part of our future. Buxton: 6/84 Sano: 6/72 Another $26 million here. With all the moves together, we add about $90 million. Here's what we would look like: C: Realmuto/Castro/Garver (is Garver out of options?) 1B; Murphy/Gonzalez/Austin 2nd: Murphy/Polanco/Gonzalez SS: Polanco/Gonzalez 3B: Sano/Gonzalez Util: Adrianza OF: Gonzalez/Buxton/Rosario/Cave/Wade/Rooker (5th OF comes down to Wade/Rooker/Kiriloff in spring training) SP: Berrios/Gibson/Odorizzi/Pineda/Mejia RP: Britton/Ottovino/Reed/Hildenberger/Rogers/Busenitz/May/Moya
  5. Man. He is such a solid hitter. I know his defense is sub par but he would almost be worth it. If we ever decide to go to the playoffs again he is also really clutch.
  6. Marwin Gonzalez anyone? Can play all over the field with a decent bat...
  7. If you have a catcher with a good feel for calling a game, you really don't have to worry about this (as much). I would trust guys like Molina and Perez far more than analytic reports. Numbers will only take you so far. A really good catcher can help a pitching staff control a game. *I understand there are only a handful of these kinds of catchers in the league. I'm just saying, this seems to be a part of the game that is undervalued.
  8. Maybe we can talk a HOF pitcher into leading us. Maddux or Pedro anyone? Randy Johnson?
  9. Either Denny Hocking or Michael Cuddyer. Do it.
  10. Crazy! thanks for pointing that out.
  11. I agree with those of you who are valuing quality bats AND flexibility. I would love to sign Marwin Gonzalez and Eddie Escobar. I also hope we get in on the Patrick Corbin bidding war. Definitely a crazy year for free agents!
  12. Does anyone know if Tor is able to bring him up at any point this year without losing service time? Just curious if we have to wait until next year...

  14. 1.) Where are you from? Marshall, MN...now live in Bakersfield, CA. 2.) Age Range? 35 3.) What brought you to Twins Daily? Dumb luck 4.) Highest level of baseball/softball played? Had a chance to play against Joe in the VFW state tournament many moons ago. Played a year of D2 college ball before my blown out shoulder yelled at me too loud. Amateur ball for a few years after. 5.) Favorite Twins Player, and favorite underappreciated Twins player, and if you want, favorite current Twins player? Kirby. Marty Cordova. Francisco Liriano. current: Rosario and Escobar. 6.) Favorite non-Twins Daily site/authors? MLB.com/network 7.) Favorite Twitter follows? nope 8.) Other interests outside of baseball: Traveling, beer, cards-mostly cribbage. 9.) Favorite part of Twins Daily: Minor league reports and changing my mind 50 times about a topic when I read through everyone's opinions. 10.) Tell us what we can do better: More polls (maybe a poll-of-the-week)
  15. Is it sad that it is more fun to read these reports for five minutes than to watch the Twins full game? Go farm clubs!
  16. When Jay was selected I really wanted Benintendi. Maybe the FO doesn't want to make that same mistake. I'm sure if they liked a college arm enough, they would have gone in that direction. Benintendi won golden spikes, Larnach has a chance to do the same.
  17. Could definitely see Dozier to the Brewers. Any thoughts on who they would trade to get him? Gibson should go now. I don't see Lynn going until the trade deadline. We should get anything we can for any of our relievers and bring up our AAA guys.
  18. What I'm hoping happens: Ehire is gone. Gordon gets the call up. Motter takes over for Gordon at AAA. When Polanco comes back, Petit is gone.
  19. Weird trade. My initial thought was that I would very much rather have the pick than the money, but I will give the FO the benefit of the doubt that there is in fact another move to follow. Maybe a trade for a catcher is imminent. I think if we landed Realmuto or Ramos it would make much more sense. I want to like Garver...but he is appearing very much so to be a back up. On a side note, now is a good time to extend as many of our young guys as possible.
  20. It is. Just thinking out loud here, but once we get Sano back and if we use Carter, our lineup (without Mauer) will look something like this: Dozier 2B Kepler RF Rosario LF Escobar SS Sano 3B Morrison 1B Buxton CF Garver C Carter DH I like the idea of using Carter behind Garver-might give him a little better protection. Who knows where Buxton should be.
  21. The Tigers must really appreciate V-Mart's veteran bat in the lineup. Does anyone have his home to first time on that second double play yesterday??
  22. Han Solo playing cards at the cantina. I think.
  23. I'd be shocked if he pitches again, but I hope I'm wrong. Seems like he did everything in his power to make a comeback. However, I could see Phil as a pitching coach. Seems to be very passionate about the game and very personable. He had great stuff in his first years and had to "learn how to pitch" in the last few years, so he might be able to relate to majority of pitchers.
  24. We have so many young pitchers who are with us now or who are about to be with us in the very near future. Does Garver's (average to just above average?) bat provide more value to us than a veteran catcher who can help groom these young pitchers? Do you guys trust Garver with all of these young pitchers?
  25. I was a big advocate for Lynn in the off season but he has been brutal. Not watching the game today...are his pitches close or is he just all over the place?
