  1. I didn't say 3/100 was likely...I said it would be perfect. Stranger contracts have been signed, especially when they are signed late January/early February. I'm sure many scenarios and options are thrown out during contract negotiations-not sure it would be a waste of breath though.
  2. 3/100 for Darvish would be perfect.
  3. I don't have or use twitter-my apologies Tom! I just saw your article. Apparently we're on the same page.
  4. Do you think we can make the playoffs this year? If you do, do you think Gonsalves is going to be a key part of the rotation? You might be right-I just don't see him making that kind of contribution for a year or two. Ervin Santana has been pretty good. I would put Lynn/Cobb in the same category. Just like most of you, I don't see us shelling out $150 for Darvish.
  5. Just a side note...Cardinal fans seem to think VERY highly of Lynn. Many of them think he is up there with Darvish and Arietta. They ultimately say he isn't as flashy and rack up K's, but is really consistent and has playoff, pressure-type experience. Obviously all fan bases are biased, but it seemed they would be quite upset if the cards didn't resign him or if he signed within the division.
  6. Would you guys rather have: Darvish at 6/150 (or something simliar) or Lynn for 4/70 AND Cobb at 4/70
  7. There have been a few rumors about Darvish, but has anyone heard ANYTHING on Arietta?
  8. Who is everyone here predicting will be the closer? 7th and 8th inn guys? Or do you think it will be a mixed bag depending on each game's unique circumstances? I think Rodney starts as the closer but has a short leash. Reed the next guy in place. I think Busenitz/Rogers are the 7th inn guys. I love the depth we have!
  9. Didn't the Yankees give Darvish a 48 hour window to sign their offer (one that expired by now)?
  10. This would be my dream scenerio: Sign Darvish for 3 years/100 Trade Gordon/Granite/Jay/Wade for Cole Darvish Cole Santana Berrios Mejia/Gonsalves
  11. C- Garver/Rortvedt 50/50 1B/DH- Rooker/Sano/Kiriloff 2B- Dozier (will be his last year) SS- Javier 3B- Lewis OF- Rosario/Buxton/Kepler/Baddoo/Kiriloff *This will be the last year these 3 are together Gordon/Wade/Polanco/Granite/Jay etc. need to get traded for Cole.
  12. He probably won't. But if he does, it might be because he is being offered far more/year in the 3 year deal...like 33 vs. 22-25. Especially if the 3rd year is a player option-he could still have time for one more "large" contract.
  13. I would be very hesitant to offer a 4, 5, or even 6 year deal. I would rather overpay on a 2 or 3 year deal that may or may not include a player option. Something like 2/66 with a player option for 3rd year, making it a 3/99 contract. I really like Darvish and would love getting him, but he is no spring chicken anymore.
  14. Whether he is an ace or a 2 is debatable, to some degree, even though I see him as an ace. To me, an ace is a guy that can shut down any lineup, any night...and be durable. There might only be a dozen "aces" in the league. What separates him from not being an ace (anyone can answer this that doesn't believe he's an ace)? How many aces do you see in the league? It is going to take a haul to get him. A big one.
  15. Is Machado really going to get traded? mlb.com says there is progress being made, with 5 teams having discussions. Orioles are said to want two pitchers. This seems like it might actually happen. Santana and Mejia? (just kidding, but seriously though, what would it take for one year of Manny?)
  16. Sorry, forgot the other part. The Rosenthal bit was meant to go along with the Iglesias rumors. Iglesias could close this year. Rosenthal the next if we don't keep him... I just think getting him on the cheap(ish) would be a good investment, just like the Pineda signing, like you mentioned.
  17. I hope they bite the bullet and go for Holland or Rosenthal vs. signing 2 or 3 low end guys. We have enough young guys to not have to do that... We might have to overspend, but if we don't get Darvish, paying a few extra million for one of these guys might be worth it.
  18. Would love to see them add Trevor Rosenthal and Swarzak on 2 year deals for a total of around 20mil. TR: 2/14 AS: 2/6
  19. Paying him 2 million this year to be in the bullpen in September, as many of you have mentioned. Paying him 8 million in 2019. If he stays healthy the entire year and has a decent year, completely worth the money. What will a #3/#4 starter cost in 2 years? I'm guessing more than 8.
  20. The only way I want to trade Dozier to the Mets is if we make a package for DeGrom. Dozier/Gonsalves/Gordon. But not going to happen.
  21. Just wanted to be funny. My apologies, my morning humor hasn't hit it's beer yet. Stanton and Judge hit 3/4 and combine for 100 homeruns and 500 strikeouts?
  22. Just wanted to say I told you so. I told you so.
  23. I hope that he does end up being a 2-way player, as it would be fun to watch. I just do not see it happening. I think he's there to pitch. My prediction if he hit on a regular basis: .265 ave 12 HR 56 RBI
  24. You only see one FA who is a 1-3 guy? Darvish (probably won't get) Arrietta (probably won't get) Cobb Lynn Pineda, Tillman, Smyly and Vargas are border line 3's I really don't care if we sign a FA or trade. I'm ok trading prospects right now. We are ready to win now. DeGrom Cole Bundy/Gausman (maybe not available?) Teheran Fulmer (if they want to completely rebuild) Manaea Velasquez I'm not saying that I think we will make a big splash. But if we want to win playoff games, we need to.
