  1. Gordon/Gonsalves (that's probably not enough either)
  2. If he is hitting .330+ by the time early June rolls around, you have to bring him up. Even if he plays 2 out of every 3 games, either at 1B or OF, he makes a nice impact. This might be the perfect situation for it. He can help the Twins make a playoff push, while not being thrown into the fire all together. With so much depth, they can pick and choose when and where to play him and keep everyone fresh.
  3. Does Kiriloff's service time come into play for this year, and if so, what is the date we can bring him up?
  4. A couple of the pitches he threw yesterday were down in the zone at 83/84 mph. Not sure if he was taking a little off his cutter or throwing a change-up. Anyone know? If it was a change-up, and if he can locate it there with the rest of his pitches, his success might be sustainable. Nelly.
  5. I was 8 at the time, so I am probably completely wrong, but didn't he suffer an injury diving after a bunt that derailed him? (I remember him mostly because my last name is Erickson and I have a cousin named Scott Erickson and always told people that).
  6. A couple things came to mind when reading that article: 1) It seemed when things were going best for Sano, he was hitting hard hit balls to the opposite field on a regular basis. Will he try to find this approach again, or will the emphasis on the HR ball leave him as a dead-pull hitter? 2) Where does he hit in this lineup? Does he stay in Marwin's spot...6th-8th?
  7. I wasn't really being serious (the tongue was in the cheek). Just commenting about the post related to trading Castro. Yes, I understand trade values don't go up from one game.
  8. I still like him for some reason. I think he can still be very good. But I am more than likely very wrong.
  9. Garver's stock is as high as it is ever going to be after hitting 2 missiles off of deGrom-trade him in a package for a SP. Bundy, Jon Gray, Mike Minor kind of guys...
  10. I like how Pineda controlled the zone...either just outside or just up and in. He seems to have a good game plan going and I am confident he will be a solid #3. With Perez, too early to tell. The stuff was there. Maybe trying to be a bit too fine. We'll see if he can get it under control. Can go either way...but definitely worth a shot. Looks like a fun lineup! I like what we have going on here. (oh and by the way, Cruz Control hits EVERYTHING hard)
  11. Are any of the twins hitting the ball hard at least?
  12. I'm guessing he gets closer to 15-17/year as well... The winning bidder is going to have to risk years 4 and 5. If no team is willing to do so, you might see 20/year for 3 years.
  13. Sounds like Kimbrel has been asking for around 4/80 or 5/100. I would love getting him, no matter what it would cost. ...but I could see many of you having a heart attack if we signed him for that.
  14. I hear he is quite good-just do not know much about him. Heard talk of him leading off for them...
  15. True. Hosmer's bat obviously hasn't played out, but he is a pretty good 1B. Myers/pitcher would absolutely be a better scenario.
  16. Can you imagine if SD had not traded Turner? An infield of Machado/Tatis jr/Turner/Hosmer. wowza
  17. Kimbrel would be amazing. offer whatever it takes. Worst case: we sell him off at the deadline because we are out of it. Multiple teams would give up excellent prospects for Kimbrel to enhance their post season push. Like, multiple top-100 guys. Best case...we finally have an elite closer and make our own post season push. Don't see it happening. But would be amazing.
  18. With the Chargers no longer in San Diego, the Padres have a chance to gain some momentum-fan base wise. They are smart by doing this. Watch out-they might sign Harper also. Even if they do not make the playoffs (immediately), they are going to be fun to watch and put fans in the seats. Good for them!
  19. I found it crazy interesting that Robinson and Bill Russell were on the same high school basketball team. One scout said Robinson was the better prospect. Then they both become the first black coaches in their respective sports? Pretty cool.
  20. Definitely a bit stiff and can use his legs to drive a little more, but as many mentioned, good control at 100 mph is exciting. I just hope he can learn to pitch inside to set up his secondary pitches. Guys who are able to throw hard and command the inner part of the plate seem to separate themselves from others and are few and far in between.
  21. To take the conversation one step further, if I had the choice of: A) Signing all 3-Kimbrel, Gonzalez and Keuchel or B ) Signing Harper or Machado I take option B all day.
  22. To help pace of play, lower price of beer. DH I'm torn. One of my favorite moments at a Twins game was seeing Ervin Santana clear the bases in San Francisco.I enjoy watching pitchers hit. But I also don't mind the idea of 15 more mashers who would have otherwise been out a job. I wish service time and arbitration would change dramatically. I'm all for a much more incentives and bonuses based contract structuring system.
  23. Does anyone have a good comp for him? Ted Lilly? I have never seen him pitch. Just wanted a comp to help paint a picture.
  24. I just can not imagine any scenario where Boston does not resign Kimbrel.
  25. Why the Marlins would do this or the Twins? Might be the best offer the Marlins get. Teams seem to be backing off a bit (although I keep waiting for a Verdugo/Ruiz offer from Dodgers). Twins do it because it might be the last time in a while the division is down...and very winnable. Might push us to the top of the central...if we can sign one damn pitcher worth anything.
