  1. I will believe it when I see it. Seems too bold right now for our favorite little plucky club.
  2. Maybe the players should have different unions based on service time? I work for the state of Minnesota and we have multiple unions at the same department. If the newer players and minor league players had their own unions then they might receive better representation at the end of the day.
  3. Yes. This FO has an odd affinity for older guys with no upside (see Gimenez, Chris). While they seem eager to cut the cord on young pitchers with (the apparently dreaded) potential and high ceiling. So far, I have given them the benefit of the doubt. The proof will be in the pudding.
  4. Brother, I am sorry. If I didn't have the (increasingly distant) memories of 1987 and 1991 I don't think I could be a fan of Minnesota men's professional sports teams. Yes, just getting to a championship round would be incredible after such a drought. Keep cheering. Maybe someday this town will get another men's pro sports title. Until then, go Lynx!
  5. Yes, most Vikings fans reach their breaking point, silently give up (usually to preserve sanity), and realize the Vikings just aren't ever going to win the Super Bowl. Favre across the body and the choke against the Saints crushed my spirit
  6. Yes, the list is quite extensive. The Chiefs, Falcons for 1998, Saints for cheating and Favre across the body just to name a few. It is neverending the grudges Vikings fan can harbor.
  7. It's hard to cheer for the Chiefs since they beat the Vikings in Super Bowl IV. Yes, I was negative two years old in 1970. However, the highlights of Chiefs coach Hank Stram yammering on and on still haunt my childhood and add to the torture of being a Vikings fan.
  8. Another disturbing thing is that Ozoria was born 'in the year 2000.' Are we really already to that point in time when prospects were born in 2000? Time flies, dang.
  9. Does signing Machado fit the Falvine vision? It doesn't to be a match. That sure would be fun though to watch Machado with a TC on the cap mashing in Target Field.
  10. Joe for the MLB Hall of Fame.
  11. This is a small glimmer of hope. His 2018 season reminds me of Berrios' first go in the majors - you can see the potential yet just not sure if it will come to fruition.
  12. I would pay out of my own pocket to get rid of Bremer. It is time for Mr. Bremer to move along. He is no longer relevant in today's game. Bremer's knowledge has fallen behind.
  13. Yes, Astudillo needs to be on the list. I would have downgraded Buxton to get him closer to Sano (wherever you rank those two they should be side by side). Although, I do hope you are correct that Buxton will have a productive 2019. I am hesitant Buxton will get back on track - mainly as his head is not on straight after not getting called up at the end of 2018. Buxton's struggles on the field have seemed to coincide with mental struggles. Although, I am not sure what came first - the chicken or the egg/Buxton's on-field or mental struggles. They seem intertwined. I think the Twins need to let Buxton play with no pressure, put him the #9 spot and tell him to just play baseball. The mental struggle seems real with Buxton.
  14. Being a fan of Minnesota men's professional sports teams is the worst - our teams are seemingly always stuck in the middle (or worse). Yeah, the Vikings might pop up and then disappoint in crunch time. The Wild and Timberwolves are constant disappointments. Our Twins haven't been relevant since before I had internet in my home. Anyway, being stuck in the middle is the worst - I present the Gardy years to you as evidence. No legitimate chance to actually win the World Series yet competitive enough to give the hometown fans a glimmer of hope only to be crushed with disappointment. The 2019 Twins have POTENTIAL yet nobody really truly believes they can make a deep playoff run. Let the 10 year rebuilding effort continue.
  15. From this listing, it really highlights that the Twins have not been a very successful franchise for nearly a decade. There are a lot of propects, drafts, and potential trades here and nothing really about on field success.
  16. Minnesota's newest hype man - Flavor Flavine!!!!! Yeah, boy...
  17. Cheering for Minnesota men's professional sports team sucks enough without rehashing the past and what could have been like this. We live in Loserville, USA. Let's not completely bash in our own heads reliving the past.
  18. That is a rather positive spin on it. The Liriano injury was devastating, for sure. I remember feeling the wind come out of my sails when hearing about his injury. The Gardy years were great, yet also super frustrating and unfulfilling. The annual beat down by the Yankees was a joke by the end. Then, having to suffer through 2011-2014 really tainted the Gardy era.
  19. It's tempting. Fangraphs has him projected at basically replacement level - they project 99 wRC+ and 1.0 WAR for 2019. He is willing to switch positions. Per Susan Slusser, "...Could be a real possibility for A’s at 2B at a mere $600,000." Maybe he can bounce back in 2019?
  20. Nice spin on the stats. It is heartwarming on a cold December night to know that Schoop has the potential to torture the AL Central.
  21. The frustrating part to me (as a fan) is that the Brewers rebuilt so much quicker - with less baseline talent. So yes, it is possible. The Brewers of all teams. The never won anything Wisconsin Brewers. The Twins really need to get things figured out quickly or Target Field could be a ghost town by 2020-2021.
  22. Kohl deserves a chance, depending on whether the Twins sign any starters in free agency.
  23. In Falvine I trust.
  24. I'd pass on Santana. However, this was a breath of fresh air to this old schooler who has embraced the new world yet cannot stand that strikeouts are seen as acceptable and the rate at which they are happening: "Strikeouts are bearable, but only to a certain point. Consider this: Tyler Austin 36.6 K% Miguel Sano 36.3 K% Byron Buxton 31.7 K% You just can't have an everyday lineup that includes all three of those guys." Thank you for this insight.
