  1. Donaldson certainly appears to be a future coach/MLB manager. It's great that he wants to mentor the younger guys and I honestly think there is some real world value to the process.
  2. Why would the Twins want a Buxton 2.0 with much of the same downsides? I am more than happy plugging in Jake Cave fulltime if Buxton gets hurt.
  3. I don't remember this amount of confidence and swagger from a Gardy era club during spring training. I see this raising of the expectations as a positive thing for the Twins and quite refreshing in this town.
  4. It seems the majority of Twins fans on sites such as Twins Daily don't fit what I consider the typical Twins fan/resident of Twin Cities greater metropolitan area/outstate Minnesota mold.
  5. The last few years I have read these types of 'go to spring training' writeups and walk away feeling worse. It's a no duh no brainer that it's nice to be somewhere warm in February instead of Minnesota. While I appreciate the details on the ins and outs of the actual spring training activities, I can do without the preaching and humble bragging about how everyone needs to get there. Not everyone has the resources, time, or calendar flexibility to make it to Florida for spring training. Call me jealous or a hater if you want, I don't care. This post comes across as too much rubbing the noses of the poor Minnesotans in feces that can't make it to spring training. I will see you at Target Field on Opening Day, I guess.
  6. All trades are graded as incomplete until many years later. With Graterol so young, we may not really know until 10 years down the line. Although, if this trade is a brick in the Twins winning a World Series title then it's an A+ regardless if Graterol has a lights out 15 year career.
  7. Never mind. Nothing to see here.
  8. I still get confused and think that JC Romero is making a comeback or something when I see the Romero name.
  9. The dude hits 30+bombas and 100+ RBI yet we are questioning his status due to shaky defensive metrics? Sometimes a situation can get over analyzed and new information can blind us from long standing truths that still have some merit.
  10. Man, I hope you are the prosecutor when I go on a crime spree. “These things happened. They. All. Happened. All of them!” It’s why stripping the Astros' World Series title is nonsensical, and it’s why Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Rose, and Jackson all belong in The Hall." Why punish the guilty and strip away their ill-gotten gains? It's called justice and making things things right. The Astros are low down dirty cheaters and deserve no titles and no rewards. Why is it ok to cheat, get rewarded with a World Series championship, then get a slap on the wrist a few years later? It isn't. The Astros must not be allowed to keep their title. If they do it threatens the integrity of the game. What a joke. Yes, your Honor I robbed that bank. These things happened. Why don't you give me a slap on the wrist and let me keep my dirty money and freedom. That's basically what has happened so far with the Astros. If a student cheats on a test and gets caught do they get to keep their grade? No. They are given an F and punished. I will never recognize the Astros as 2017 champions. I don't understand the logic of not dropping the hammer on the Astros and stripping their title. Yes, it happened. So what. It's time for the Astros to make restitution. I am hopping mad and want heads to roll for real. Take the title away.
  11. I am ok with that. Barry Bonds is a disgrace.
  12. First and most importantly, stripping the title protects the integrity of the game. I refuse to acknowledge blatant cheaters as champions of anything and so should MLB. Yes, it takes down a banner that is ill-gotten gains. If you get caught cheating on a test in school do you think you should still get the test grade achieved while cheating? How about a criminal convicted of financial crimes? The criminal pays restitution to the victim. The victims in the Astros case are Dodgers fans and fans of baseball that want to protect the integrity of the sport. As it stands now, Hinch and Luhnow feel some pain. Not much though, I have already seen rumors Hinch will not have a problem finding a job after his suspension. The rich owner gets a $5 million fine, saves face by canning the manager and GM, keeps his team and title. The Astros didn't win. They cheated. We don't know what the results would have been with no cheating. What if you were playing poker, lose a hand for big $, then find your opponent was cheating? Would you think the cheater should keep your money? I am stumped why anyone thinks the Astros should keep their title now that we have facts and an admission of guilt. This seems like basic grade school logic to me. Astros fans are not getting punished, they have to take the hit for supporting cheaters and are collateral damage.
  13. Strip the Astros of their 2017 World Series title. Today. Do it now.
  14. The saddest part of the story is that he was already asleep on New Year's Eve.
  15. What am I missing here? "Cruz was also a late bloomer in terms of MLB players and that will hurt his career numbers because of his lack of longevity." Cruz has 401 HRs, which means only 56 other players have more HRs. If he hits 40 HRs in 2020 then he jumps to 43rd place in the all time HR list. How is this a lack of longevity? He's 40 years old and still producing, isn't that the definition of longevity? I guess I agree with the banned substance argument since I don't think Barry Bonds should ever be in the HOF.
  16. "production, age, upside, pedigree, health, length of team control, favorability of contract, positional scarcity (within the system, and generally)" and Rogers drops from #10 in 2019 to #12?!? I fail to see how that's possible using the criteria you set forth.
  17. The eye test says that Rosario is not that terrible in the field. Despite the fact that I was at the game last season where he hot dogged against the Mets and dropped an easy fly ball with two outs leading to a position player needing the finish the inning. I checked what Fangraphs has to say about Eddie's defense in 2019 and they have his UZR at -5.6 (below average is -5 and poor is -10). Eddie's UZR/150 is -6.7.
  18. This list gives me faith in the strength and depth of the Twins organization. It's time to focus on the potential of this club and put the disappointing offseason up to this point in the rear view mirror. The Vikings won yesterday and spring training is in sight if you squint.
  19. Whatever. If you want to be a mindless lemming, so be it. Why insult others with a different vantage point?
  20. Realistic, not negative. I think getting rocked and swept again by the Yankees in the ALDS and the lack of impact pitching acquired has put a damper on some enthusiasm for 2020. Have you watched the last 29 years of men's major league professional sports teams in this town? I think people have a right to be guarded and cautious.
  21. You are slinging the positivity with some real passion, which I can appreciate and respect. I don't see how the narrative has changed much since the (overall disappointing) Gardy playoff teams. Cute club, able to show some spunk and win the AL Central, then get their doors blown off by the Yankees (or hopefully a different club) in the first round of the playoffs. Until they can prove otherwise this is what the Twins are. What's that saying about putting a dress on a farm animal?
  22. One nice season gets you Left Arm of the decade? This is surely a commentary on the sad shape of this franchise for the vast majority of the decade.
  23. I propose plan Z: the Twins physically send an intern to the closest Powerball retailer and buy 30 million actual lottery tickets. The cash out for Saturday's drawing is $134.3 MM, providing our Twins with the needed financial flexibility to trade for an impact starter.
  24. It's time to hibernate and put the trust out there that Falvine will properly fill out the roster. Lists such as this one are sending my 2020 positivity into a tailspin and there is no need for that in the dead of winter.
