  1. I know this is sarcastic, but I think he was important to the clubhouse/vibe of this team and should be brought back ASAP. I know Cave earned this shot with Buxton out, but you know Gonzalez is going to get most of the OF time anyway.
  2. Cruz didn't come through, but I'll still take him in a big spot. Sano on the other hand, I have zero faith can even make contact in a key spot. And get Blake Parker to the IL and off this team already. He can re-hab during the All-Star break and give it another try before 7/31.
  3. Good game. Parker is sooo cooked though. They can't keep using in the 8th/9th. I'd sooner re-sign Fernando Rodney or Belisle.
  4. He's a good defensive catcher who can't hit. Astudillo appears to be an average or slightly below average defensive catcher who can hit. I'll take the later. I'd be happy with a 60/40 split between the two. Garver's future is as a reserve 1B/RF IMO.
  5. It's not so much how great he is. It's how bad Castro is. And the fact that Bobby Wilson was playing ahead of his is a crime against baseball.
  6. Can someone explain the logic of why Castro starts over Astudillo? You can't frame enough pitches to make up .100 points in batting average. Every time I watch him catch I figure I'll see passed balls galore and a mess back there and he's always fine.
  7. Strange not to PH for Kepler. Also, I know it's not typically done, but since we have 3 catchers, maybe put Castro in for the 9th given that Garver had just batted and Parker throws a splitter?
  8. Eew. I was about to mock y'all for over-reacting to a minor-league deal.
  9. Cutting $50 million off the payroll when the division is right there for the taking is shameful.
  10. It would be ironic if we got older twice in a row. Gardy will start looking like a young, fresh face.
  11. He was only going to catch one pitch. The batter agreed not to swing at it and they promised it would be a ball. He was never going to risk taking a foul ball of the mask.
  12. Someone remind me again of his "issues"? I don't see the Pohlad's signing off on that. If there's one thing the Twins have avoided the last 35 years, it's negative off-field issues for the most part.
  13. I'd say TK, but I'm pretty sure he'd take Falvey's analytics report and shove it somewhere inappropriate.
  14. Ah. That shows how vital his role was. I believe he was in charge of designing the new facility in Fort Meyers. He must have left when that was done.
  15. The last true player manager IIRC was Pete Rose. He was too busy gambling on the game to option himself. But seriously, Mauer has options left. However, I think that goes away after so many years. Su unless we are going to pay him $23 million, he'd have to clear waivers each time. And I think there are rules requiring you to report. If you were really going to game it, you'd just DL him with some injury each time he wasn't going to play for awhile.
  16. That didn't stop Brad Childress from coaching the Vikings.
  17. The Twins are the king of offering people they fire another role. Bill Smith is the only one I know who took it. I think he might even still be in that role?
  18. Thanks for a great career Joe. It's been fun following you since high school. We'll never see another career quite like it again.
  19. You're not going to get anything great for him. How many lottery tickets do we need? I would rather evaluate if he's a fall-back option for 2019. He certainly loves hitting at Target Field for some reason.
  20. Hildy is cooked. I guess it's Reed, May or Rogers until Matty B. returns.
  21. Paul Molitor frantically looks at a calendar to see when new closer Matt Belisle is eligible to return from the DL.
  22. I like Hildy, but he's been broken for a while now. DL him already. Reed or someone else should have been used there.
  23. If they need his veteran presence that bad, he can be the #3 bullpen assistant.
  24. If Belisle is on the roster tomorrow, someone should be fired.
