  1. I’m in full agreement. Sorry, not going to read through 8 pages of comments. Is the other side of the argument that Rodriguez needs a clear 6 lane freeway to MLB playing time right away? Because that’s worked out so well over the years…and leaves us with Jordan Luplow type waiver wire pickups in the season when Rodriguez has an unplayable stretch of games.
  2. And since y’all brought up the Watson angle, now that has me curious… Let’s say Garrett’s value alone is a 1st round pick in the 20s, a mid round pick, and a young player on a rookie deal. Would you take a far lesser return, let’s say a 3rd round pick; if you can offload 50+% of Watson’s remaining money owed?
  3. Just making it known that I did preface that it’s a pipe dream… In a hypothetical trade for Garrett I’d offer up the 2025 1st, Dallas Turner, and whatever mid round pick it takes to get a deal done. I don’t think the Vikings are realistically in on the opportunity, but the idea of acquiring an All Pro caliber DL/EDGE is interesting
  4. I heard a line on the Purple Insider podcast tonight and it’s so true. Players #2-53 are determined by the GM and HC. Player #1 is determined by ownership and that’s the starting QB.
  5. Tom P is back pedaling a little bit with his take today instead of his last couple appearances on KFAN. Previously he was more confident about Darnold coming back on potentially a multi year deal. The franchise tag and trade is still my preferred method to get something in return vs. him going to FA for nothing in return.
  6. Good post overall and sorry for picking on one thought here… But what would you describe the 2024 White Sox? That was a clear tank job.
  7. This is a great point. The last CBA debacle was a clear players vs. owners debate. This one coming up in 2027 will likely be between the large market owners vs. medium/small market owners. And they may take the entire year to sort it all out.
  8. Couldn’t agree more. I was playing the world’s smallest violin when I heard the press conference. I even thought about starting a Go Fund Me to help out the ownership group of a $7.5 billion organization.
  9. That may be why we haven’t seen back to back PECOTA AL Central Champion flags at Target Field yet.
  10. Idk if any of the TD writers caught this recent interview from Hal Steinbrenner… If the Yankees are trying to join the group of teams with actual revenue/payroll limits, then baseball is doomed. The Yankees are the 4th most valuable franchise in all of professional sports with a $7.5 billion estimated value. The lockout coming in 2027 is going to be the most intense fight in the sport’s history. We may lose the entire season to fix the health of the sport moving forward.
  11. I put 2 treats in front of my dog with an over and under signs in front of them. Then bet on which treat he eats first. Pretty much the same success rate as ZIPS and PECOTA
  12. The biggest mistake every professional sport made was getting into bed with all of these gambling companies. I’m just waiting for the huge scandal to come out in the future of a network of refs who have been taking under the table money for years from gambling companies.
  13. https://www.mlb.com/press-release/press-release-major-league-baseball-statement-regarding-hoberg-appeal From the linked article… “The disciplinary action was taken due to Hoberg’s failure to uphold the integrity of the game by sharing sports betting accounts with a professional poker player and friend who bet on baseball and whom Hoberg should have known bet on baseball, and due to Hoberg’s intentional deletion of messages central to MLB’s investigation into his conduct. Throughout the investigation and appeals process, Hoberg adamantly denied betting on baseball directly or indirectly (i.e., through his friend), and the data provided by the sportsbooks does not show any baseball bets from his own electronic devices.“ Hoberg and Individual A, a professional poker player, met at a poker tournament circa 2014. They became friends. In addition to poker, they played golf, traveled together and watched sports on television. Individual A was a frequent overnight guest at Hoberg's home. These stays occurred one or two nights at a time and about 20 to 30 nights per year. The data obtained from Sportsbook A shows that Hoberg's devices were used to place 417 direct bets between December 30, 2020, and January 15, 2024, on Individual A's accounts. The total amount bet was $487,475.83. These bets lost $53,189.65 in the aggregate. The data obtained from Sportsbook B shows that Hoberg’s devices were used to place at least 112 bets totaling $222,130.00. These bets lost $21,686.96 in the aggregate. Most of the direct bets (on both accounts) were on football, basketball, hockey or golf. None of the bets placed on Individual A's accounts with Hoberg's devices were on baseball. Data reflects that Individual A’s accounts bet on baseball 141 times between April 2, 2021, and November 1, 2023. The bets were almost exclusively on which team would win a certain game (i.e., money line) or whether more or less than a specific number of runs would be scored in a certain game (i.e., total). Of those 141 bets, 26 were parlays, and six of the 26 parlays included multiple MLB legs. The total amount bet on baseball from Individual A's accounts was $213,754.45 with an overall win of $34,583.06 in the aggregate.
  14. If we indeed have $5 million to spend, then the Twins should be all in on claiming Ryan Braiser from the Dodgers. Owed $4.5 mill 66.2 IP, 1.89 ERA, 220 ERA+, 2.83 FIP, 0.83 WHIP, .169 AVG, 19.0 K-BB% If they do that, I might start buying into the “best bullpen in baseball” narrative
  15. But I got a sneaky suspicion he ends up on the Bears… They once again have a ton of draft capital, and Poles needs to make a huge splash move to keep his job.
  16. Myles Garrett requested a trade out of Cleveland today. Complete pipe dream, but he’s a guy I’d give 2 1st round draft picks for and not think twice about it.
  17. PECOTA is particularly bad projecting the Central division in both the AL and NL. The Brewers and Guardians consistently out perform projections by 10+ games.
  18. PECOTA was off on projecting the AL Central by an average of 13 games last season. Forgive me for not putting any value into their projections. PECOTA 2024 AL Central: MIN 88 wins, actual 82 wins CLE 83 wins, actual 92 wins DET 75 wins, actual 86 wins KC 70 wins, actual 86 wins CWS 66 wins, actual 41 wins
  19. Chip Kelly is now making $6 million a year? What a world we live in.
  20. Hey now, 1 of those players will go to the Yankees. 1 will go to the Red Sox, and 1 more will go to the Mets. The rest is 100% true
  21. Sounds like you’re not taking any of the content seriously like me. Zebby Matthews is playing his age 25 season and the headline is ranking top players under 25. So play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Easily correctable mistake, but this site continues to operate on auto pilot.
  22. No young coordinator is going to touch that job. That’s a 2 year minimum sentence in cap hell. Expensive, average at best QB and a core of players in their 30s. By the time that team is ready to compete the coach will be fired and go back to a coordinator job for 2+ years.
