    I suppose change can happen with internal candidates too. Though as an employee I'd wonder why he or she didn't speak up before to usher in these changes.. Kind of like when the Gophers football coach Claeys took over for Kill. His first change he implemented was getting rid of the other coordinator he's been working with for the last 20+ years. Almost made you think "How long have you been waiting to do that?"

    For an internal hire if I were an employee I'd think not much is going to change. The culture remains status quo, and why wasn't I being considered for the role? For an external hire if I were an employee I'd think man, maybe things are about to change around here. New person to impress, I better be on top of my game or else I may be a casualty with the new regime.

    Yeah he appears to just shoot from the lip without really thinking about what he's saying. If I were him, I'd probably hire someone with a PR background to prepare some statements for him if he's going to talk to the media. Nothing wrong with that. Not all owners want to be in the spot light. The Vikings owner comes to mind. He's terrible at public speaking, and unless there's a prepared speech for him, he delegates that responsibility to his brother. Something that Jim should think about.

    I have no reason to feel this way, but I'm confident that Antony is not going to be anything more than an interim GM. Would I trust the braintrust to conduct their own search and interview process to find the next GM? No. You may think search firms are a racket, but I believe using one is critical for an important hire like this. Let's use a neutral third party resource to identify 4-5 quality candidates, and use their expertise to create a process for selecting the best person for the role.

    Those 3 are locks to be called up ASAP. Hildenberger presents a good case for a call-up, and I'd imagine there are some folks on the 40 man who could be DFA'd for him. As far as people already on the 40 man, may I suggest Melotakis as an option? He's bounced back this year after injury, with a 2.52 ERA, 9 K/9, and 2.2 BB/9. Considering he's a lefty as well (always needed in Minnesota) I'd like to see him get a chance this season.

    Well, we sparked a conversation from the podcast! There are times when I agree with John and think Gleeman is off-base, and vice versa. With this episode, I lean heavily towards Gleeman's opinion over John's.

    Maybe I'm in the minority but I would not be okay with Torii as the main man. The organization needs a complete overhaul with their culture. Bringing in a former Twin IMO is not going to fix the culture problem. I'm curious why you're not a fan of search firms, Seth? A resource like that should be a requirement in this search considering Pohlad's not very connected in the baseball world.

    Raising a person in general is scary. I'm going to need some guidance if I were to become a parent. Especially when they're teenagers.

    That would have been a great costume! Though I don't think my mom would have wanted to carry me with a bottom made of springs... Imagine innocent, adorable little Vanimal in a tiger costume and a painted face. I'd like to think I got the better costume than my older brother, who dressed as Eeyore.

    I'm not quite sure what to think about TR's legacy, given what we know now. He left the first time during an offseason where very crucial decisions needed to be made (trading Johan, negotiating contracts for Cuddyer, Hunter, etc.) Of course the cancer diagnosis played into that decision to leave the first time... Now this time, it's been reported that he orchestrated his exit, and he decides now is the time to do so 2 weeks before a critical trade deadline. He's done good for the organization, but man, he's now left twice before having to make franchise altering decisions.

    Sure, it's a worst case scenario, but it would never happen. Even if Antony knows the odds are against him sticking around, there's got to be some integrity to do what's best for the organization you're working with until the day you're no longer working there.
