    That is true, Plouffe has a longer track record than Nunez. The team that would acquire either or of these players are just looking at them as rentals for the next 3-4 months. That's why I'm skeptical why a team would prefer Plouffe's .662 OPS over Nunez's .816.

    I'm sure we can all agree to prefer trading Plouffe over Nunez. What other team in the MLB would want Plouffe over Nunez is the question. I can't imagine many do.

    The Royals are looking into Jose Reyes? Ick.... Any of those names would work for me as far as a return for Eduardo. Thanks for putting together this list so we can think about a realistic target for trading Nunez.

    Arcia and Santana are both fringe players, I think we can all agree to that. However, athletic light hitting players are certainly more readily available than players that can hit for power.

    I get where you're coming from. It's a paper thin rationale, but that's probably what the Twins are thinking. We can chalk it up to having no backup plan in CF, and them being fascinated by a player who's been nothing but terrible offensively the last 2 years.

    Well first of all, Castillo is 28 years old. There's not a lot of growth left there until he hits the decline years. Second, the Red Sox are in the thick of the AL East race. If he's not going to help a contending club, there's no reason to keep him on the 25 man roster. Big differences between Arcia and Castillo's ages, and where the organizations are currently at.

    That is a very fun fact. Yet Santana is getting the lion's share of ABs. It's truly mind boggling how that is possible.

    He could play middle IF and the OF. Yet he's starting exclusively in the OF. You would think if he's truly a utility guy he'd have starts all over the field, right?

    Other than speed, what function does he provide? He should be considered an OF only now since that's all he's played this year. He's a very poor hitting OF. This may be the first 100+ loss team I've followed that supposedly has too many good players for too few spots on a major league roster.

    I'm not sold on Arcia being David Ortiz 2.0. That's a bit of a stretch. Some of the handwringing about the situation which is warranted, IMO, is choosing D Santana over Arcia. I'm starting to sound like a broken record here. Santana is just as brutal offensively. If not the worst offensive players in baseball the last 2 years. But he can play anywhere in the OF and middle infield they say! He has started 0 games in the IF this season... So the Twins swapped out someone who could provide power potential for the team with a guy who provides no positive value besides speed for the team. That's my issue with it.

    Tigers also just lost JD Martinez to a significant injury. White Sox have been aggressively making moves all season long. Possibly other contending teams in the AL that wouldn't mind a LH bat off the bench.

    I don't really understand the irrational love for D Santana in this organization. As others have mentioned, defensive flexibility and speed, D Santana's only positive traits, are found every day on the waiver wire... Hated Arcia's bone headed plays in the OF, but still loved the potential. This team is not that talented where they can afford to give away someone with 20+ HR potential like this. His talents were utilized very poorly on the Twins. It may take another year or 2 a la Valencia, but some team is going to utilize Arcia the right way and reap the benefits.

    I said this in a minor league thread as a joke at the time. Now I'm kind of serious about it. I wouldn't call up Rosario until he hits double digits for walks. If it takes 400 ABs in AAA to do that, so be it.

    It's good that Rosario is finding his bat again. However, I'm not sold calling him up yet. Are we giving up all hope of him ever learning how to work a count and earn a walk? We're still talking about a guy who has 2 walks in 91 ABs since the demotion. If he rides this hot streak to the majors, great! If he cools off against MLB pitching, it's still the same free swinging Eddie we saw in April.

    My adrenaline would be through the roof driving on the autobahn. I'm pretty sure I would also be terrified of changing lanes or making any sudden movements traveling at 131 MPH.

    I grew up in the country so manual labor wasn't anything new. Bailing hay was by far the most grueling manual labor I've done... didn't have to work out much that summer!

    The justification of "he's not blocking anyone, why give him away?" I'm sure was used when describing Kurt Suzuki, Josh Willingham, and Phil Hughes too. There's rumblings all the time of keeping players too long until they're no longer valuable. Well, Nunez came out of no where this season to prove he's more valuable than we thought. There won't be a better time to get a return on a trade than this season.
