    Ditto on feeling sad for the Mauer stats. The hope of him achieving even 75% of his glory year's production is dwindling fast. As someone who's continuously ripped Tonkin before this season, I am sorry and will eat crow. He's looking like he can be a solid middle inning reliever for the team going forward.

    As a guy in my mid-20's I agree with you. I should be in the demographic that would love multiple bar options at a ball game, but it doesn't do anything for me. It has to be extremely frustrating for people with young families. What are their options? Finding TC Bear, getting food, that will last you until the 3rd inning if you're lucky. Then..... what exactly can they do? I was in MN recently, and tried rounding up a group of friends + my dad to go to a Twins game over Father's Day. Even found a row of seats available for dirt cheap. Didn't get a single yes from the group I asked, even from my dad. Turns out it was a better choice to go brewery hopping and watch the US Open instead of the Twins that day.

    HA! Lester Oliveros.... Totally forgot about him and that dilemma of putting him in the rotation. Did we break him last season? Just looked him up and he doesn't have any stats this season.

    For sure in September it's going to be a ghost town. Perhaps even in August too when people are taking their last summer vacations before schools get back in session. It's not a good sign at all when it's the dog days of summer, only women's basketball to compete with for sporting events, and they're drawing ~20k in the stadium.

    Plouffe IMO will be an August salary dump, or play more of a bench role until he's let go in the offseason. The time to trade him was last offseason. We'll never know if there was real or manufactured interest for him last December. I'd also add Milone to the pitching list. Though I would think the most likely scenario is a DFA/salary dump...

    4. The U.S Postal Service – July 26th in the year 1775. That was the date that the U.S. Postal Service was created. The very first piece of mail was sent from Philadelphia all the way to Boston. The trip took 8 full days on horseback through rain sleet and snow. The mailbox was not invented yet and the mail carrier was forced to return to Philadelphia with the mail. Today is National Postal Worker Day, AND National U.S. Postage Stamp Day! So take some time to thank your mail person. Since I live in an apartment, I couldn't tell you what my mail person looks like.

    Sounds like a great HYPERthetical question to me! Would you rather get on base 162 games in a row, but never have a multi-hit game? Or would you rather be more streaky, but have multiple 2+ hit games?

    I remember earlier in the season he was trending towards earning a gold glove at 1B. Is that still the case? It's disappointing that Joe's bat has disappeared lately, but there must still be some value in the glove. For the duration of his contract, IMO he should be a consistent starter at 1B again next season, then transition to DH and a part-time role for 2018.

    Wow the procedure sounds pretty serious. Removing part of his rib bone to alleviate pain? Ouch.... Good luck to Hughes on his recovery.

    I'm pretty sure I caught the bitter end of using telephone books. I do recall looking up friends' home numbers in the phone book, and getting frustrated because I didn't know their parents' first name(s). Then 411 came along in the mid-2000's to start eliminating the need for phone books... Now here we are, just a google search away from finding any phone number.

    Agreed. For a HS arm he appears to be progressing along nicely. I would imagine next year Stewart repeats AA for a month or 2, then moves up to AAA. All depending on his performance, of course.

    I have no idea if this Arizona pitcher is a future MLB prospect or not. Either way it's another example of the NCAA and these schools exploiting athletes for the sole purpose of earning more money for the university. It's hard to argue that they're doing these kids any favors preventing future arm injuries.

    It's also pretty telling where this organization is currently when May, and the occasional mention of Pressly/Gibson are the only MLB arms people would keep.

    That's going to be a fun story to tell future kids/grand kids one day about land lines... Believe it or not little Tommy, there was a time when we didn't have hand-held computers in our possession at all times. We used to have to call people at their house to see if they were home and available to play backyard baseball that afternoon.

    Vargas has been quietly heating up the last week. SSS alert, but he's hitting .300/.417/.800 with 3 HRs and 5 RBI the last 7 days. I wouldn't mind seeing what he can do on the MLB club since Park has continued his struggles.

With a family of 9 in a 3 bedroom 1 bathroom house, clearly he designed the existing square footage wrong. No family of 9 gets along in a 1 bathroom house... Sure they showed the life lessons learned, and the good times the family had. What DIDN'T they show?? Well, how about those mornings when Marsha needed the bathroom mirror to brush her hair 100 times? Meanwhile Jan needed to shower, Peter needed to shave, and Mike needed to spend some time reading the newspaper if you catch my drift. All before they had to be dropped off at elementary, middle, and high school.... I'm calling shenanigans here.
