    When it comes to all-star voting in baseball, there's a mix of players that get voted in on career accolades, and players voted in on current season success. Did Derek Jeter deserve to be an all-star 14 times? Or did name recognition and past accolades help him make the roster? I'd say a little bit of column A, a little bit of column B.

    To piggyback off of mikelink's post, I imagine Meyer's going to tumble a few spots on the list, and potentially Reed off completely to make room for the on the rise guys. Would Randy Rosario also be considered to fall off the list? I've read your reviews that he throws hard with good secondary stuff. You would think that should generate more strikeouts than he has so far, right? Is he just not getting his k pitch in the right location? Or more of a pitch to contact guy?

    In the spirit of keeping this thread positive, any day where Sano is at 3B is a great day. I hope to see 65-70 more great days the rest of the season.

    That right there is why I have mixed feelings going into the 2nd half. The fan in me wants to see more wins and improvement. But I also want changes in the FO, and like you, I'm afraid if we do see significant improvements from the .350 win percentage the team currently has, we won't see the changes most of us are asking for.

    Those are mind blowing numbers. Something I never take into consideration when I spend $60 for a game at Target.

    All good points. Video games are a tricky business. They need to make games more difficult to appeal to the hard core gamers of the world, but once they're too hard, it loses the casual gamers. I know for me I was out from the Call of Duty franchise for good once I was out of college and couldn't play for hours on end. It'll be interesting to see who comes out on top from this 3-4 company race to be the market leader of VR.

    I should be in the target demographic for VR... Mid-20's, grew up with video games, still love them today when I have the time, and disposable income. None the less, I have zero.... ZERO interest in virtual reality gaming. And don't know anyone that is interested....

    That's one where the financial advisor has purchased a ton of volume for me this year. It would have been great to have volume in September 2012 when it was $700 a share....

    San Diego is my dream destination. Unfortunately I have a feeling I would be broke within a year of living in CA with the amount of taxes you have to pay and cost of living.

    All solid advice, guys. Thanks for the assistance. I do need to get more involved with my money and learn more about the investment side of things, since I won't be able to rely on the financial advisor forever. I think she's in her early 50's as she has 3 daughters all either attending college, or about to attend college. And I sure as hell don't trust anyone my age managing the portfolio...

    Speaking of Hollywood Squares, that reminds me of game shows. Has anyone seen the newly revived Match Game and $100,000 Pyramid yet?

    It's possible that they do, couldn't tell you for sure. I've only spent part of a weekend in Houston to watch an Astros game. Personally there wasn't much that I saw that would make me want to do that road trip again.

    I don't know how she's done it, and maybe the 25% figure is too high, but without looking it up, I'm confident it's been a 20-30% growth every year. I've given her full reign to make trades, buy and sell anything that will keep the portfolio growing.... Usually have a call every quarter to see if anything's changed with short-term purchases like housing, cars, etc... Since I'm young in my mid-20's, it's a fairly aggressive strategy where I'd say 75% is tied into stocks.

    Yep. There's a reason I'm no longer in MN.. That brutal winter of 2014 with 30 straight days of below zero weather was reasons #1-1,000 why I was looking to get out of there.

    I will look into Motely Fool's stock advisor. At this point I've relied 100% on our family financial advisor to handle my portfolio. I haven't had any complaints as she's increased the portfolio by 25-30% for the last 5 years. This year with the way the stock market has shaped up, I don't think I'll be getting to the 25% benchmark... Unless AAPL or Google takes off again.

    This is out of curiosity, and feel free not to answer if you don't want to. Do you guys invest on your own? Or hire a financial adviser help you out?

    True. The lesson learned here is never move to Houston. Unless you like living in a concrete jungle with 100% humidity.

    It's more of a dry heat in Arlington. Same in Austin, though we do have our fair share of humid days. Once you get to Houston, that place is a swamp. We're talking 100% humidity daily.

    Interesting. Shows how much I pay attention to other teams' minor league development. Quite frankly I was just surprised to read the name in AA since that process is much different compared to how the Twins handle recent pitcher draftees.

    Wow the White Sox have Zack Burdi reporting immediately to AA? How often does that happen where a recent draft pick skips all low levels and starts their career in AA? Very happy to see all of the promotions. Hope they all continue to succeed at their new level of play.

Is there a Hollywood star that's bigger than the rest? It's tough to gauge these days as so many have their 15 minutes of fame and are gone in an instant...

    It's tough to say how many will be off the 40 man roster and how many need to be added at this point in time. I do think AZTwin is on the right track for his locks and potential players falling off the 40 man. Locks: Palka, Jorge, Romero, 1 of Garver or Turner I think I'd only protect 1 of the 2 catchers, depending on if Centeno re-signs with the team. I'm still holding out hope that a veteran FA C is brought on board too, like a Wilson Ramos or Geo Soto. Have no opinion either way: Wheeler, Slegers, Eades, and Granite. Thorpe I'd take the chance that he slides through Rule 5 without getting picked up.

    Interesting numbers. I would very much like to see Tonkin in higher leverage situations now that he's shown he can stick on the MLB roster.
