  1. for the right price sure... not sure his contract situation... and 4 games is a bit of a small sample. Like others, I doubt we see much in terms of block buster trades... Bundy has too many question marks to fetch an exorbitant price, but if the price was right, I'd get him.
  2. definitely a baseball diamond on the tv... if video isn't allowed, that's a violation.. whether they were cheating or not.
  3. it certainly worked out for Houston. Hopefully it does for us too and at the end of the day we can say that this was a trade that ultimately benefited both teams... I guess the real question is whether or not Pressley would have helped us advance in 2019... I don't think we beat the Yankees with him, but I do wonder if we had a better seed and didnt' have to play them due to a better seed.
  4. We're 9-2 and already have a decent lead after playing one of our harder stretches... I'm liking the way this season is shaping up... Hopefully, we can get Buxton, Sano, Garver, and Donaldson on track...
  5. Seems to me that the value of a deep lineup is being able to let those injuries heal instead of playing a player at 90% and possibly making it worse... If you see a rash of these things, I'd be worried.
  6. this... hopefully this is due to Arraez getting a bit stronger. Like others said, I don't want to see his contact ability change.. you need that, especially in situations with runners on where a walk isn't going to do much.... now if the contact ability stays the same and he gets a bit more power... let's just say that's makings of a very good career.
  7. number 1 might not be an over-reaction...
  8. I've got to think if you've looked past 2019, that Rosario probably has a couple top 5 60 game performances.
  9. this logic is wrong because you're only taking 50% off of one group (black males) and then applying it to an entire population ignoring the fact that there are zero women baseball players in the majors (and probably the minors too, but I haven't looked). I'd love to see a female professional ballplayers some day, but I highly doubt I see that happening in my lifetime much less women making up a noticeable percentage of MLB players. 13% of Americans are black... that's true. Approximately 13% of American males are black as well. Until women make up a sizeable percentage of baseball players, there's no need to adjust that number downward, and even then it wouldn't be done because black women become part of the conversation.
  10. I would argue that baseball really needs to re-invest in the inner cities of this country as well as youth programs all over the country. The path to getting to the majors is much harder in professional baseball and its popularity with the youth continues to dive... that to me is a much larger problem but would also make headway here.
  11. I'd rather them be disrespected and come in with a chip on their shoulder than to get too much respect and get overconfident.
  12. hopefully we get good Buxton and not slow start Buxton... Cause good Buxton is a huge difference maker.
  13. A lot of that rest is keeping him fresh for the dog days of summer so to speak... with a 60 game schedule, I think he might end up playing in a higher percentage of games. Obviously, being a catcher, he's going to get some needed days off, but I'm hoping he sees a higher percentage of games than he would have in a full 162 game season.
  14. the sample size will be a big factor here too. Bad teams can be decent for 60 games... Good teams can be bad, and occasionally great.
  15. was this an anti-body test or a positive test? There are pretty big differences and unfortunately plenty of states as well as the CDC have been conflating the results.
  16. Other than rentals for dirt cheap, I doubt you see any trades... going to be a quiet market I think.
  17. in a 60 game season, I'm guessing that health is going to be a much bigger X factor this year than most.
  18. does all the slot stuff matter with this particular draft? I thought all additional FAs were capped at a dollar amount.
  19. wasn't the whole issue salary proration? That proposal is 104% to the players which means they'll get paid at a slightly higher rate than what they would have in a full season... or am I reading this wrong?
  20. Not at all surprised they went with a hitter here. Not much to evaluate on this year as it was. Good luck to him!
  21. Unfortunately, I think this is the beginning of the end for baseball as we know it... and I blame both sides personally. There's been plenty of selling people out by both sides, whether that's the MLBPA selling out minor leaguers or owners selling out players and each other to a lesser extent. I'd have hoped that this would have been a time for all of them to get together, open the books if needs be, and find a way to ensure that baseball gets played with minimal losses on all sides... Unfortunately not. It's looking more and more like we'll be lucky to see baseball in 2020 and even luckier if we see it in 2022.
  22. Tom F posted one on page 7 of this thread I think.
  23. Is it so unreasonable to ask people to stop generalizing each other and slapping a label/stereotype on them when hard conversations are being had? I've seen way too much of that in this thread on both sides. It's nauseating. A terrible thing happened. Let's not forget that first and foremost. People are going to disagree on the way forward. That's not going to change either. So please, let's listen to each other, drop the snide comments and snark, stop putting words in people's mouths, and stop making accusations. None of it is beneficial. None.
