  1. That "kid" is almost 29, and has 6 seasons of well below average performance. He's never recorded double digit Ks in a game all the way back through college. That wasnt good pitching. That was crap hitting.
  2. so ... Rocco shouldn't have pulled a clearly struggling Berrios before the 6th inning spirals completely out of control...but the same Berrios needs some time off due to results and drop in velocity. And being worn down. //blank stare Interesting logic. Despite having nothing, luck and circumstance had gotten Berrios into the 6th with a 3 run lead. Pushing your luck, after the first two hitters reached, was a really really bad managerial decision. The bullpen hadn't been used in 36 hours. There was NO LOGICAL REASON to let Berrios blow the lead there. None. That was a rookie manager mistake, clear and easy to see in advance, and it likely cost a game.
  3. or possibly publicly available defensive metrics aren't worth the electrons they're written with?
  4. Not pulling Berrios after the first two hitters reached in the 6th is incredibly poor management. He had struggled all game. Why? I cant even come up with a plausible explanation. Awful. As for "enjoying" this...I enjoy watching them win. If you enjoy watching them lose a game in the standings while facing Drew Verhagen-who doesnt qualify for the term journeyman-more power to ya. I dont.
  5. Not ONE ending in -zee?? No Cave-zee? Cron-zee? This is an invalid list.
  6. Carlos Santana sits on a change with 2 outs and 2 strikes in the top of the 10th, puts the Indians up 3-2. Really great AB. Brad Hand comes in, gives up a leadoff double, followed by a sac bunt, followed by a DP ball to Santana at first, but they only get one, as nobody covers first base to comple the DP, game tied . Walk, single, Mets Mets Emm EEE TTT ESSS METS!!!!
  7. Pretty meager pickings, IYAM. Sorry Jeremy. I guess if you squint through rose colored glasses you can see Graterol perhaps having an impact. Maybe O'Rourke gets a key LH hitter or three down the stretch. I'll take the under on Alcala throwing 100.
  8. Conversations about "best baseball player of all time" begin and end with Babe Ruth. And it's not even close.
  9. Perhaps you answered own question. The pitch was well below the strike zone. Otherwise, I agree. I want him hunting a pitch to whack on 2-0.
  10. If you ask me, the throw Rosario made was at least as bad, and IMO worse, than the pitch Gibson threw.
  11. 400?? I dunno... I think the Twins have a shot at 300 home runs, but even with Cruz back, I don't think 400 is realistic... ... oh. well then
  12. I'm not aware of any team, anywhere, in any stadium, that doesn't do Take Me Out To The Ballgame mid 7th. Regardless if they also do GBA.
  13. For the record, at least in Texas, they still do Take Me Out To The Ballgame after God Bless America. And lots of the people in attendance participated in both.
  14. Today's singer says "you think THAT was bad? Hold my beer..."
  15. I actually think his footwork is a primary problem. He is in love with throwing on the run. When you charge a softly hit ball at short, then fine, you have to throw on the run. Other times, set your feet, turn sideways, and make a throw. He does the "run across the bag and throw off balance" at 2nd base on DPs way too often for example. Take a crow hop instead, planting your front foot on 2nd as you make a normal throw to first. I think his whole throwing motion contributes to his weakish arm, compounding the weakness with inaccuracy.
  16. I've watched a lot of baseball over the years and dont recall ever seeing a similar scoring decision. It was Duffey's W in every similar situation. Perhaps I'm forgetting, but I never forget. Edit: I never forget, but I do get ninja'd.
  17. The Twins are undefeated in road games attended by most of Chief's family. Perhaps someone should start a go fund me campaign to ensure we are at all remaining road games. Oh, and dont forget the Embassy Suites digs. 3 rental cars as well, and make em SUVs. My family has agreed to suck up the travel hardship in the interests of keeping the TD faithful happy. I can also confirm that Chief called the Schoop HR. He was right on that lefty all night. You're welcome. Edit: just to be on the safe side, prolly should send us to all home games too. Just to be safe, mind you. This is no time to be depending on SSS home/road splits. Edit to edit: obviously, this applies to post season games as well. Obviously.
  18. You should ask the players. But IMO its the common courtesy and respect shown between highly competitive people who play at an extremely high level for six straight months. "The game is pretty much decided. let's not show each other up. We have to co e back and do this again tomorrow/next week/next month/next year." And it's pretty undeniable all the players know and understand. Cave immediately apologized. Kepler wore a fastball, trotted to first without complaint, and everyone moved on.
