  1. Darvish gave the Cubs 178 innings of 3.98 ERA, 1.1 WHIP pitching, with 11.5 K/9. My guess is the Cubs aren't looking to get out of anything. If they are, the Twins should jump at it.
  2. Fair enough. But I disagree strongly. Dismissing post season failure as somehow unimportant compared to regular season success doesnt do much for me. The point of a MLB season is to win the WS.
  3. Bad stuff started when our obviously hobbled second baseman couldn't catch a routine popup. He also made a pretty bad throw on the ball Cron should have caught. That inning doesnt happen if Arraez catches that popup.
  4. I don't want to start an argument either, but Rosario is 28.
  5. And the "1" in the "1 for 12" in game three didn't produce a run. That was Arraez' soft single to left, to load the bases in the 2nd inning,
  6. That's patently false. The bulk of Atlanta's rotation is home grown. That's it. You have to do all of that stuff, AND add quality, to be successful. By the time the Twins minor league supplies the kind of pitching necessary to compete in the post season, if it ever does, much of the current roster won't be here any more. And then people will be saying just wait for the minor leagues to supply a lineup. Go big, or go home.
  7. You're ignoring Verlander and Cole. Find me a succesful team that developed all of it's pitching internally. I'll wait.
  8. Did you watch the game? That popup absolutely should have been caught by the second baseman, with ease. Arraez sort of gingerly drifted back, and it still went off his glove.
  9. That inning never happens if Arraez catches a relatively routine popup to start the inning. A hobbled Arraez against a LH starter was a curious decision, IMO.
  10. My guess is Berrios would be the 4th starter in Houston's post season rotation, the 3rd in NY's postseason rotation (4th if German doesn't get suspended), the 3rd or 4th in LA's postseason rotation, the 3rd in Washington's, the 3rd in Atlanta's, and the 2nd or 3rd in TB's. Again, what's the goal here? Win the ALC?
  11. In his 28 innings? Personally, I think he left Dobnak in too long.
  12. are trades still legal? If Berrios isnt the third starter in next season's opening rotation, the off season is a failure.
  13. Rowtheboatskiumahgogophers!
  14. Yeah, the issue isnt which game Dobnak starts...the issue is that Dobnak starts.
  15. once Gibson is named to the roster, he's subject to use. There's a reason they took 12 pitchers, they're all needed. And at least Romo, May, and Rogers haven't thrown a pitch in a game we lost.
  16. Maybe Dobnak goes 6 strong tomorrow, but that's not really my point. You wouldnt build your team counting on that. Nor would you count on your minor leagues providing a huge part of your October bullpen.
  17. The series isnt over, but as has been true in the past, the Twins appear built to compete in the ALCentral. The Yankees are built to win the WS. We're starting Randy Dobnak in game 2 of the NLDS. Littell and Stashak asked to pitch in Yankee Stadium. Compare that to the other team.
  18. Castro is also a way better defensive catcher. The fascination with the Turtle is confounding.
  19. OK...who are you, and what have you done with Randballs Stu?
  20. 1. Don't blame MLB for the game not being on broadcast, OTA TV. None of Fox, CBS, or NBC want the game, they get way better ratings for their regularly scheduled programming than they would for an ALDS game. Baseball is still relatively local in nature. Be thankful MLB found someone willing to pay for the broadcast rights, and you have an avenue to watch it. 2. If you are one of the people who "cut the cord," it seems a bit of a stretch to now turn around and complain you can't get channels provided by "the cord."
