  1. Well, I wouldn't be so fast to jump ship on Torii Hunter. I don't believe anything is sure beyond Rosario and Hicks. And there still maybe question marks about both. I believe both Arcia and Buxton are big question marks at this point. Some intrepid TD writers would probably find someone who'll talk about Arcia. I'm really curious what happened, but did read an article that it was another back problem. From what little I saw of Buxton and how he was used at the end of the year, he's bound for significant AAA play. I believe the young outfielders will need to step-up and actually block Hunter's return next year.
  2. It's over....... https://youtu.be/ofgjiAljNh0?t=30
  3. Agree with the announcers: Vargas needed to be more aggressive.
  4. Kennys Vargas? Interesting..
  5. I think you mean allow , right? I believe, after what he's shown in the last 2 seasons, that he deserves that shot. To early for an extension.
  6. I'm not in with this "Not a chance in hell" thing. But I like the Santana vs. Young matchup. I think that one's a win for the Twins.
  7. Hey Barbershop Quartets were the hip guys of their day!! Er, no. Not really.
  8. IMHO: Batting practice is all about eye - hand coordination.
  9. As a " USAF MSgt (Ret) " you do not understand the concept of someone earning their strips?
  10. MLB is still very much a sport of unwritten rules. Young players like Jose Ramirez are expected to show a level of decorum: i.e. you don't flip your bat after hitting a home run or leisurely jog around the bases. Torii Hunter has earned the right to do the bat flip because of the long, successful career. Oh, he'd leisurely jog around the bases, probably get a highly anticipated brush-back pitch the next time up, and he'd politely tip his hat to the pitcher, out of respect. I think people are making way too much out of this.
  11. I'm a firm believer that a MVP should be a full-season player. If we don't hold true to that, then is Tyler Duffey a Cy Young candidate? Of course not. MVP: Dozier. He carried the team when few others could have. ROY: Rosario. Year long production on both offense and defense. Best Starting Pitcher: I really don't know. Of all the full-time starters this year, I'd say Gibson. A season long starter with a .500 record and an ERA under 4.00. Best Relief Pitcher: Perkins. If the Twins keep running him out there in the 1st half like they did, get used to the 1/2 year success. Most Improved: Hicks. You can't really say Escobar, because he produced like this last year, when he was the starting SS. Hicks, sent down a 3rd time, got his head and swing together and produced, well, better than he had and show a lot more confidence.
  12. The Twins are really sucking it up and stepping up!
  13. Didn't see anyone else post this: How about more Triples than Walks? Eddie Rosario had more Doubles, Triples and is 2 short in Home Runs, than he has walks. That's pretty amazing. Or just weird.
  14. Nudist baseball?
  15. The funniest part isn't the article. Way down at the bottom of the page under the "Recommended Stories", well, you gotta read the titles yourself. Made my entire morning!
  16. Right, dead on with this. The Twins lineup is really missing a couple guys with the potential to do this. Not to say I don't like the progress that has been made this year, but the young, high OBP guy doesn't just isn't there yet. I'll take the hitters like Rosario and Sano any day. Without the Kepler-types in the future, there's gonna be a lot of solo HR's and other XBH's.
  17. I was always down on how the Twins handled Escobar and Danny Santana. If a guy is successful one year as a starter, he deserves the opportunity to be a starter at the same position next year. Escobar success this year after being returned to starting SS didn't surprise me: PA BA OPB SLG OPS 248 .308 .356 .542 .898 Makes me wonder how Santana would have turned out [and what would the Twins record look like] if he had been returned to the starting CF position. Fantastic arm for a shortstop: just didn't seem to have the feel for it. BTW: Stringer: what's the scale on the version of WAR you used? I honestly don't like WAR right now. Too many different version makes it seem like it's not ready for prime time.
  18. If you were to ask Molitor about his bullpen decisions, I'll bet anyone $500 that he'll say: You stick with the guys who got you here.
  19. That's a very nice jump in production. Short-timer at Rochester?
  20. I'm looking at Baseball Reference.com for the numbers. Gibson starts wearing out in August.
  21. This right here. As I've written elsewhere, this team is in uncharted territory: the playoffs. I'd bet every starting pitcher has tossed more innings than they've done before. I'm looking at Gibson's game logs and it's pretty obvious. What's also obvious is there's not much beyond Duffey that can pick up the slack. Molitor and Allen are doing their best to give starters an extra days rest. That can only go so far.....
  22. Excuse me while I scratch my Buddha - belly.....
  23. At this time of the year, 151games, no baseball player is at 100%.
  24. IMO, I believe Molitor liked Rosario over more than just Hicks. Molitor was really unhappy about Arcia, Sano and Vargas getting into a SP home run contest, when they should have been working on their mechanics. Sure, he needs some tuning up, but my Rookie of the Year vote goes to Rosario. BTW: Great article!
