  1. Great to see lot of pitching upsides in the lower levels, especially lefties. Disturbing to see the high number of serious injuries. Bard is a pure survivor. Best wishes to all!
  2. The difference between D. Santana and Escobar being Escobar has done it 2 years in row. 330 PA's in 2014, 270 PA's this year. And he improve quite a bit this year. Escobar has always looked more comfortable at SS than Santana.
  3. Before I'd touch that, I'd need to know one thing: Has anyone heard a reason why Arcia was so bad last year? Pouting or did his back/hip/whatever problem cause it?
  4. Read it this morning and almost freaked. Given regular AB's Escobar has hit VERY well. And I don't see why many are down on his fielding. Flat out: No to Jose Reyes.......
  5. Sign him! Oh, wait. We're talking about the wrestler, correct?
  6. I, like many others, had the same thought. As I remember it, there was a lot picking of nits on this skills. My question was always: What catcher in the Twins farm system is better? And now, back to the story :-) On Ryan looking for more starting pitching: He'd have to subtract 2-3 starters to make that happen, while not disturbing the progression of Gibson, May, Duffy, and Berrios AND still finding room for Santana and Hughes [ I'm assuming those the 2 Ryan would most likely keep]. I don't know how he'd do that. And let's face it: what "Ace" pitcher would come to Minnesota willingly? Bullpen: oh, god.. I don't know if I'd dive deeply into the free agent pool. I wouldn't want to get too locked in on any 1 veteran at this point. As a 1-2 year filling, yeah.
  7. As always, thanks for the MiLB info, Seth. I'm seeing a lot of injured year after year, 24 yr olds at lower-level leagues and a couple already targeted as utility players. That doesn't bode well for the future. But I also see some potential in Lee, Wade and Quezada. So there's hope!
  8. Chisago? Why are we talking about Chisago County?
  9. It doesn't sound like the Twins are sending that much talent to the AZL. More of a "redemption" type trip for all of them. I wonder if Walker is way to enamored with the homers and he's there so that get corrected.
  10. I like Gray. But I'd really like to see how Berrios and Kepler develop. I don't think we've seen enough of either yet, especially Kepler.
  11. Hicks seems like he's on a slow learning curve. His drop after the hot streak in July I'd call a lack of recognizing and learning to adjust to pitchers adjusting to what he's doing at the plate. I believe Hicks deserves a shot at the starting CF next year for these reasons: 1. He did learn and made a pretty good jump this year 2. Buxton's hitting is atrocious. He has a ways to go before he's really MLB ready. 3. Who else is your CF? Shane Robinson?
  12. The NL is now, and always has been, the "fastball league". So, guys who throw more breaking stuff, like Maddux, Glavine and Phil Niekro have more success in the "fastball league". A good comparable for Cueto is Kershaw. Both have good, moving fastballs in the 93-94 range [and can pop it when needed], but it's the breaking stuff that really sets them apart. The AL has always been considered a "breaking ball" league. And pitching wise, has always been considered the opposite of the NL. You just see more pitchers like Cueto [minus the el Tiante delivery].
  13. Any infielder turning a double-play would be analyzed to death.
  14. Gattis didn't catch this year. At 6'4", 260lbs and 28yrs old probably has something to do with that.
  15. Closer. + Arcia from Twins. +Francisco Mejia from Cleveland?
  16. Great minds think alike!!
  17. Well, that may be in the ballpark. A guy named Giovanny Urshela played the most games at 3B for the Indians. And he ain't no Trevor Plouffe Arcia + Plouffe for Salazar ?
  18. Absolutely fantastic story, Parker! I think this is your best work! The '87 Twins were the most fun team I've ever watched :-)
  19. The Twins have already said that Escobar is the starting SS. Levi & Polanco battling it out at 2nd.
  20. Great write-up. I seldom hear about these young players.
  21. I think Cueto's stuff plays better in the NL. I'll pass.
  22. It's the concept that Plouffe is "blocking" Sano. I can understand why thinks were status quo this year. I don't believe in just handing a player a job, just because. Let them fight for the position in Spring Training.
  23. Sano was a kid, about a 100 lbs. ago Sano is one of those instances were his hitting should offset his defensive issues, wherever. I like the Twins attitude of pushing Sano out of the DH position.
  24. Apologies if someone has already asked: Do you have some documentation on what the Padres were offering for Plouffe and Hicks, and the other teams interested? It would be fun to know who's talking out there.
