  1. Haven't you heard about Orioles' prospect Jackson Holliday? He was named MiLB hitter of he year for 2023 and is expected o break camp with he Orioles next spring.
  2. You're joking, right? If Julien is such a detriment on the field, how is he landing a Lopez type pitcher? And don't compare Julien to Arraez. That comparison is laughable.

  4. Here's some random thoughts. 1. If the Twins reduce payroll by $35M, that's less than 1.5% of the current estimated value of the team. Is it worth it? 2. Many highly thought of business people became wealthy because they saw an opportunity and took a big risk. Maybe now would be the time to go for a title instead of playing it safe? 3. Is it possible that the lack of activity so far this off season is because they are hoping for a repeat of the Correa fiasco of last year? They are just waiting for Ohtani and Yamamoto to fall into their laps? Okay. #3 was an attempt at sarcasm.
  5. Giving a"sizable raise" to a manager would be the same as paying a crappy relief pitcher for a couple months.
  6. Or, if the Twins do reduce payroll to $120M, the media companies tell the Twins that their product isn't worth a big TV contract.
  7. Having to prove your random statement is true takes all the fun out of making comments.
  8. Winder and Varland have the same value in a trade? I would not trust that site. Also, isn't Alek Manoah the guy who starts in all the Aquaman movies?
  9. San Diego lost Wacha, Martinez, and Lugo to free agency (along with Blake Snell who is out of the Twins' price range). All three of these could be good pickups for around what Maeda got from Detroit - maybe a little more.
  10. But how much? No one knows because the books are kept secret. And they may "have" it, but they have announced that the budget will be lower. So they don't "have" it to spend.
  11. They may not "need" cheap, but with the TV revenue uncertainty, it's what they may be stuck with.
  12. I'm suspicious of any trade that is based on thinking that he had one good season two years ago and pitched for a team that doesn't use analytics nearly as well as the Twins do, so therefore he will be the next Pablo Lopez. Ah well, it is the off season.
  13. Near the very beginning of the article, it says that injuries may change the ETA for any prospect. This is just one person's best guess at when these prospects might arrive.
  14. I've been reading your comments for several years and I've come to the opinion that you don't understand the purpose of the comment section. Your replies lack (mostly 😇) misspelled words, bad grammar, rambling and incoherent sentences, and the requisite bashing of the author. All you do is offer your opinions in a logical, well thought out manner. You better be careful or you might be blocked from contributing.
  15. C - Jeffers 1B - Julien 2B - Lewis SS - Correa 3B - Lee LF - Kirilloff CF - Martin RF - Wallner DH - Buxton Fun to watch and takes care of budget problems.
  16. I would like to add one caveat to this discussion. The comparison is not just how the $10M salaries match up against the free agent pool. It also needs to include what assets the trade partners are willing to part with. For example, is it better to sign Teoscar Hernandez for $10M or trade for Kepler and his $10M but also give up a starting pitcher or a couple of prized prospects? I still think both Kepler and Polanco should be traded, but the decision on the other side is more complicated than just salaries.
  17. That fixed income is definitely a bitch. I did the caretaker thing this year but I probably won't renew. My property taxes just took a big leap upwards and the money is better spent elsewhere. A lot of the caretaker-only articles were heavily data centered which I don't understand or find interesting. I'm about ten years your senior and I really like your idea of a senior discount.
  18. I have no idea what "run into a cookie" means (although it sounds delicious). However, I would love to see a guy who hits a lot of home runs even if he strikes out 1/3 of his at bats, if he also hits .270 from both sides of the plate. Here is my mathematical reasoning..... ABs 500 SOs 175 (35%) HRs 35 Remaining ABs 290 Hits needed to hit .270 100 BA on Remaining ABs .344 In order to hit .270 in 500 plate appearances, Severino would need 135 total hits - 35 of which would be home runs. Therefore, in his remaining non-strikeout, non-home run 290 at bats, Severino would need a .344 batting average. In contrast, with the same strike out and home run numbers, a Gallo-esque type hitter would only need to hit .224 in order to achieve a .200 batting average. I would much prefer Severino.
  19. You advocate adding any of three guys, all of whom probably would hit under .240. And then dismiss Martin saying that he "still has elements to iron out". What are these elements? And can they not be worked on in the majors? Bring the guy up and use any available money to go after Yamamoto. The Twins need a good arm.
  20. Ancient history.
  21. I'm a retired civil servant. I have no vault. But the Pohlads certainly have one. They bought the Twins for $44M and the team is currently estimated to be worth $1.4B. I think they can afford to dig deep and go for a title.
  22. I would also think that signing Yamamoto would have a similar impact to revenue but on a smaller scale. But Yamamoto also can probably be signed for less than half of what Otani will get. It's a good time to open the doors to the vault and bring home a World Series title.
