  1. "Draft beer, not us." was a saying in the 1960's. That was a different kind of draft.
  2. The Twins will need to make room for the 37 year old righty reliever who has had a good year pitching middle relief for the Tupper Lake Riverpigs.
  3. He will make way more money as a starter because.....? Give up? It's because starters are more valuable than relievers. Period. Move Jax to STARTER. Tell him now to start getting ready and to get in the best shape of his life. He needs to go to Drive Line, the same training camp he went to last winter, which by the way was where Jax was told why he could be a successful starter, even after taking into consideration that he will lose some velo. His trainer/teacher wrote that Jax's stuff, control and wide variety of good pitches (5) was so good that he can still be successful as a starter and his injuries have been very negligible.
  4. There is a reason that all major league teams pay good starting pitchers way more than good end of game relievers.
  5. I have more confidence in the Twins development of pitchers, than I have for the FO's success in trades. Having said that let's look at a few of the current Twins' pitchers the FO obtained in trades: Lopez, Ryan, SWR, Duran, Acala. Hmmmm, I need to change my original statement in this post. This FO has done pretty well with these 5 pitchers, all of which were obtained in trades. I guess time will tell.
  6. Griffin Jax will be a starter next year for the Twins. He was mentioned prominently in today's Athletic Daily by Eno Sarris as a prime candidate to become a successful starter next year. He has 2 fastballs, 2 breaking balls and a usable change-up and locates them all really well. Sarris mentioned that he has had good health, which is an important indicator of success as a starter. And Jax wants to start.
  7. I respectfully vote "No" to trading Lopez. What does it say about the Twins that the Twins must pay partial salaries to trade away players?
  8. What lessons do the Twins learn from their late season collapse in 2024? How can they avoid a repeat? It wasn't just bad luck that caused this dismal play by the Twins.
  9. Lewis, Miranda and Walner all will have breakout seasons and the Twins will win the A.L. Central Division against stiff competition. Jax will start and be an All Star starter. Ryan and Ober will continue to improve and win 12 games each. Lopez will continue to be the ace of the staff. Buck will play 120 games and win a gold glove and hit 30 homers. C4 will hit .300 and play 150 games. Duran, Stewart, Sands and Acala will handle the relief chores adequately. Jeffers will hit .250 with 25 HR. I will DH and win the Triple Crown. I will fill in at relief pitcher with a sub1.00 ERA, when I am not DHing.
  10. I have great respect for a young man who makes a huge decision like this and is able to express being grateful for his good times in baseball. AK, thank you for giving maximum effort and enduring frustration and pain and disappointments. It will make you a stronger person. I feel sure you made the best decision for yourself and your family. Don't look back with regret, but rather look forward with excitement and hope.
  11. Should I feel guilty being happy over the mistakes of the poor Yankee players? Nah ! I just heard a caller to a NY radio show state that Aaron Judge should be stripped of his captaincy and traded to the Mets. That's cold. I love it !
  12. Here's an idea to improve the infield defense. Maybe the Twins can trade Manuel Margot and a minor leaguer whose name I have forgotten, to the Dodgers for minor league SS Gold Glove winner, Noah Miller.
  13. This was a sobering article. Having just watched two outstanding teams battle in the World Series, I am afraid the Twins have a long way to go. Every play, every day requires hustle and dedication. I can only imagine how difficult that must be. But to be in the World Series and to be lackadaisical is inexcusable. That is why one must hustle every play, every day during a long season. Repeated actions become habits, which are instantly repeated in stressful times. That is something my army training taught me.
  14. Cody, Nice article. However I, for one, am sick of reading about Twins' prospects every October. Yes I know, "Wait 'til next year." Wouldn't it be better to be reading about reports of playoff game performances by the Twins and World Series wins by the Twins. Right now I am feeling this is just nuts for me to do this every year. I will admit that since the Twins are not in the World Series, it is almost as satisfying to see the New York Yankees getting outpitched, outhit, outhustled, outplayed and outsmarted night after night in front of 50,000 fans screaming "Freddie Freeman" in LA and 50,000 fans quietly and quickly exiting Yankee Stadium at the end of the 9th inning in New York.
  15. Getting rid of Donaldson was worth a lot...and I'm not talking about his contract. He was no leader for the younger guys to emulate.
