  1. Interesting. Maybe he was leaving a health club at 3 am, rather than a night club, which I had assumed. My assumption could have been wrong.
  2. Wonder what kind of truck he was driving and how it was equipped...i.e. back up camera or back up warning device. If he had looked in his rear view mirror or his back up camera (if his truck had one) or turned his head and looked, possibly he would have seen a motorcycle behind him, but maybe not. We'll probably never know what really happened. No tag and no license, according to the latest story from DR.
  3. How about signing "Speedy". Relief is just a swallow away.
  4. I bet Sano will be paying more than just medical bills after a plaintiff's lawyer gets involved.
  5. I'm not sure that applies in the DR. However I understand your point. At this juncture, it doesn't look very pretty. We shall see. As Will Rogers said: "All I know is what I read in the newspaper".
  6. In view of Sano's most recent "problem", I find the title to this article prophetic.
  7. Usually nothing good is described in a sentence that begins with, "After leaving a club at 3 am, ".
  8. How about requiring Buxton to learn how to bunt better in spring training and then insist that he do so at least once a game.? Would that be extraordinary enough? With his speed, I think so.
  9. Nick, interesting that you authored this article, but voted for Berrios. Did you have a Berrios article already written? If so, will you print it? I would have voted for Berrios also, although I was very pleased with Rosario's season.
  10. I think each of 4 rookies, Garver, Cave, Romero, and Astudillo will have chances to make significant, positive impact on the Twins in 2019. (I'm not sold on Kohl S. or Stephen G.) I'm glad that 2 rookies are good hitting catchers, a position I was worried about before the 2018 season began. Before the season, we had comments on TD about who was available at catcher in the event of an injury to Castro. I guess we found out.
  11. 2017 and 2018 results makes the decision to let Stuart Turner go and keep Garver, look prophetic. Turner spent most of 2018 in AAA and was on the DL twice. He hit .218 in AAA on 2 teams and .134 for the Reds in limited appearances. I know nothing about his fielding performance in 2018, which I recognize as being critical at the catcher's position.
  12. Unless you are contending for a title or a playoff spot.
  13. This sums it up for me too. I did not see the fire in the belly of the players under Molitor. I would like to see a player benched, if the player doesn't hustle.I did not like the statements of Gardy after a tough loss: "It's a long season." I also thought that was Molitor's feeling. I believe the most important game of the year is the one that is being played today. After a tough loss, I prefer to see the manager turn over the snack tables and throw things. I prefer to see players trying very hard to win. If they loaf, I don't want to see them play for a game or two, in order to get a message across. I don't care if it is Brian Dozier jogging to first on a groundout, or our current favorite Twin, Astudillo forgetting how many outs there were while he was a baserunner, or any pitcher walking the first batter in an inning. I would have a system of fines for mistakes. I would have extra fielding practice after a failure to properly execute a rundown (that was so frustrating to watch over and over on replays). Where is Billy Martin when we need him?
  14. Thanks Paul. You were a class act. Your statement after being fired was admirable.
  15. It looks like Mauer only played 9 years as a catcher, the same # of years Koufax pitched so dominantly in LA. 9 years or 10 years at catcher, my argument above still is the same.
  16. I'm OK with that too. I got so excited reading about Gibson's improvements that I got a little carried away.
  17. Compare Joe Mauer to Sandy Koufax. Both were injured during their prime. Koufax quit after 12 years. His 3 years with Brooklyn, which were mediocre, were before his 9 best years. with LA, which were outstanding. Mauer kept playing after his injuries. Mauer player 5 years of mediorce baseball (10.4 WAR) after his best years.. I contend that Mauer's 10 best years as a catcher were so superior to any other catchers' 10 years (3 batting titles by a catcher- never been done before), that they compare to Koufax's 9 best years as a pitcher in relation to other pitchers. Did Koufax, as dominant as he was, ever do anything that no other pitcher has done before or since? No. I admit Koufax was dominant at his position for 9 years, but so was Joe Mauer for 10 years, in relation to all other catchers in the history of MLB. If Koufax deserves to be in the HOF (and he certainly does), then so does Joe Mauer (and he certainly does).
  18. Thanks for all the hard work getting this ready. It's like Christmas in October when I receive my copy. I download and copy my issue, tell my receptionist to hold my calls and reschedule my afternoon appointments, because I have some serious legal research to do the rest of the afternoon. I pop a bag of popcorn, grab a cold Dr. Pepper, I turn Pandora to some soothing jazz, and close the door to my office Then the fun begins, reading it cover to cover. One of the best days of the year for this North Carolina Twins fan. Note to TD readers...I am not exaggerating here.
  19. Nick, Thank you for these weekly wrap ups. They are always informative and interesting and well written. I look forward to these wrap ups next season.
  20. The fans will be engaged when the team is. Both groups have a way to go in my humble opinion.
