  1. Stats...smatz...AK is an awesome hitter. Can't wait to see him and the other Twins' prospects and players in 1 week at spring training. I can see it now. I'll be standing by a fence. watching practice. Suddenly a ball comes over the fence. I pick it up and throw a strike to home plate. A coach says: "Hey kid, come here. Where did you get that arm. Let me see you do that again" I throw another strike with movement. He puts me on the mound...same result. Castro is called over. He says he's never seen both speed and movement like this. The radar gun is reading 103. Excuse me TD reader, my office phone is ringing. Maybe it is Thad. I'll get back to this daydream later.
  2. Nice job and well written. Thanks.
  3. I wish they all could make the majors. However they won't. They must give it their all, realizing that even if they do, they may not be good enough, they may get injured, they may be unfairly left out....but then don't we non-baseball players have similar goals and dreams, similar frustrations and disappointments? But the key is to live every day with a lofty, noble, purpose...to help others along the way...and to beat the White Sox.
  4. "Hmmm. You present quite the conundrum." quoting Newman.
  5. Exactly. 1) His bounce is limited based on every indicator in his past. I just think this was a poor move on part of the FO for several reasons already spelled out by other commentators in this thread. But mainly 2) he keeps the young arms down on the farm, when some young pitchers need to be getting acclimated to the major leagues and getting their "yips" out.
  6. I like your lineup, however I would switch Sano and Kepler. Then it will be like marching in basic training in the army. Switch, left, right, left, right, left, right, left, right. "Double time, harch" !
  7. Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports in the last 24 hours the Twins have shown an interest in Craig Kimbrell. Anyone got any additional info about this exciting rumor?
  8. Jon Morosi of MLBNetwork reports interest in Craig Kimbrell by the Twins over the last 24 hours. What have you heard about this?
  9. Give me defense over offense up the middle at catcher, SS and CF. Give me offense over defense at 3B, 1B, LF. Give me some of both offense and defense at 2B and RF and utility IF and OF. A great hitter at DH (not a jumble of whom ever needs a rest that day). That is how I would look to build my team.
  10. I'm going sometime this spring or summer. I'll do a picture report when I do. Go Twins!
  11. For a few seconds I was excited to read a tweet from Rhett Bollinger that Cody Allen has signed, until I remembered that Rhett now writes for the Angels, instead of the Twinkies.
  12. Greek mythology...yes. I love this website.
  13. Nick, Your Discard Pile was a very well thought out article and makes many good points. I like the fact that you are a "glass half-full" guy..... My mom used to read "The Pokey Little Puppy" to me when I was a little fellow. He was always lagging behind. That story may have caused me be a Senators/Twins fan for all my life. I wonder if she had read "The Little Red Hen" to me more, would I have become a Yankees' fan?.
  14. My main worry is that FA's block young players who have been working hard to make it on the Twins' roster someday. Then the FO signs Perez. What does that say to Gonsalves and Mejia and Thorpe? It says, none of you are good enough so we signed this guy Perez, whose minor league numbers were not as good as yours, and whose major league numbers are well below average. Part of the psyche of the 3 young lefty hopefuls will be saying: "I'll show you and even though I am trying as hard as I thought was humanly possible, it must not be enough so I'll try harder" and part of their psyche will be saying: "This is not fair to me nor to my minor league brothers and I can't wait to get out of this organization and go to an organization that has faith in me as a player and gives me a fair chance". Where is the loyalty on behalf of the FO? Am I being naive to think that building a championship major league team can begin in the minor leagues with a core of winners who progress together to the Twins major league team?
  15. Nick, Someone has hacked your account and posted the above about the 3.5 million dollar Perez deal. Contact your IT guy immediately.
  16. The title of your article should be answered by the Angels' GM, who grabbed Curtiss, whom the Twins released, released Parker, whom the Twins signed and are said to have signed Cody Allen, a free agent, that some contributors at TD wanted. Hmmm I wonder.
  17. I wonder if a deal like Nelson Cruz got (14 million in 2019 and a second year team option for 12 million with a low ($300,000) team buyout) would entice Allen to sign?
  18. I remember 2 years ago at spring training as I watched through the wire fence, close enough to hear the talking on the field, Cuddyer told Torii Hunter that he (Cuddyer, remember Cuddyer hit right-handed) could hit a baseball off the tee over the right field fence. if Hunter gave Cuddyer 10 swings. The first 9 swings Cuddyer failed. Hunter was laughing and letting Cuddyer hear all about it. The last swing sent the baseball over the right field fence. Hunter completely lost it and Cuddyer let Hunter hear about it as together they walked off the training field. It was one of my best baseball memories. Ever!
