  1. The twitter video with Justin & Trevor really pissed me off. This decision was made a long time ago during the season. You don't give a guy a cake and a bottle of scotch to commend him on 40 years of service. That was a retirement gift. Then they tried to play if off like they couldn't have done this at the beginning of the season since he had Covid. And they wait util the final day instead of right when he came back from Covid. If they wanted to acknowledge his 40 years of broadcasting it would have happened right away. Another low class move by the Twins.
  2. I thought the same thing when the Wolves got rid of Dave Benz. Hopefully they hire someone like Michael Grady.
  3. I don't think he went out on his own terms. Just watch the video when they gave him a cake and a bottle of scotch. That's a goodbye celebration not a thanks for 40 years of broadcasting. The worst part is they said they couldn't do it at the beginning of the yer because Dick had Covid. So what stopped them from doing it when he got back? It's too bad they treated him like that and pushed him out and made it sound like they just decided to do it now. To me it makes the Twins look like garbage. Low class and Dick deserved a better sendoff. The worst part is they are going to use him as a speaker and to promote things. Lucky for them Dick has too much class to show them the middle finger and walk away from them.
  4. No chance either player gets bought out. Both players have trade value and their contracts aren't that big so the Twins should be able to get some prospects in return for them.
  5. The only plus I see in Martin over Keirsey is that he bats from the right side. Solano was one of the better hitters for the Twins in 2023. With the mess at 1st base where would the Twins have been without him in 2023. Severino would be nice to see for sure. Would like to see that power in Target Field. He just needs to work more at 1st base and cut down the strike outs.
  6. Looks nice, I only wish he was a little chubbier. That's the Kirby we all grew up with.
  7. No team would sign him to a deal over 50M even if he didn't get a QO. He is a very smart veteran to have on a staff but I can't see any team giving him more than 2 years if gets that.
  8. Solano is needed back because of the lack of health from Kirilloff. It's just like how screwed the Twins would have been in 2023 without Michael A Taylor and Wili Castro.
  9. I'm not sure if this has been asked before but I was curious if the Twins did take out an insurance policy on the contract. I know it's just 15 million a year without bonuses or incentives. But that looks really hard to swallow when he can't play.
  10. I have always wanted more speed on this team. I'm so tired of everyone trying to hit a home run. I would take a team of piranhas any day over a team of players without power trying to hit a home run every time.
  11. I would honestly be putting him on the market and clean up possibly on a team desperate for a power arm. I am afraid it's only a matter of time before either his elbow or shoulder explode. He also wasn't lights out this year either. With bullpen arms teams would be better to go year to year.
  12. The only problem with trading Vasquez is that you have to replace him with another veteran catcher to help out Jeffers. The free agent market is weak with just a couple of possible targets. They are better to keep their duo together.
  13. Why is Buxton listed there? Because of the hope he can rebound or with injury history may have little to no trade value now.
  14. For sure. Pitchers flame out faster than we would like.
  15. Question 11: Will the Twins at least try to reduce the strikeouts? This can easily be fixed if everyone would stop trying to hit a homer every time they come up to bat. Simple thing is that not everyone has home run potential and the ones with little to none should work on a little small ball. Give the mashers some base runners. I would love to see more bunting and improved baserunning. Those are the 2 biggest things that have been neglected for years throughout the entire league.
  16. How did he hurt his right shoulder? Wouldn't it be a bigger issue if it was his left shoulder since he hits and throws left? 1st base and center are to 2 positions that the Twins need to worry about this winter.
  17. Can we ask Joe Mauer what he used to come back and have that great season that earned him that huge payday? Or just call up Barry Bonds. Pick your poison. Pun intended.
  18. The plan for Buxton should be to be back in 2025. In 2024 shoot him up with everything under the sun to hope to speed up the healing process. When he gets caught it's a 50 game suspension and no post season. I know this would never happen of course, and if anything they should have done it this July and hope for 2024 as the return date target.
  19. Zero chance he would sign that. His agent would laugh in the Twins face.
  20. When heathy Buxton is a fast runner. He has always felt like a freak of nature to me. So much talent but here's the weird part. To me I have always felt like Baseball wasn't his first choice of sport to play. Such great raw talent that was never fulfilled. He could run down any flyball hit out there. His problem in the outfield was he didn't seem like he knew how to dive for a ball and couldn't judge the distance to the wall. Very fast base runner, but it seemed like he ran too fast and never seemed to learn how to slide properly. Then once all the launch angle crap started it seemed to ruin his swing since he seemed to be always trying to hit a homer every at bat.
  21. They can't fall behind in a best of 5 series. Pablo must start game 1 and Gray pitches game 2. They would only be starting on 4 days rest.
  22. Duran would be best in the Andrew Miller role if the Twins had another guy they could trust to close on a daily basis. Duran also needs to mix in some off speed stuff to keep them off balance. If not they will just be picking a location and sitting on the fastball. It might be 104 but hitters can time it out. That's why the threat of an off speed pitch needs to be used more often.
  23. My thoughts on resting players would be more like playing them like 3-4 innings or so. Let them get 2 AB and pull some of them. Correa should be the main target for being rested. They need him at his best for the playoffs and not so much now of course. Same could go with the big 3 in the rotation. I would try to find a way to limit them in a way but still get them their work in.
  24. It wasn't for massive money so it was a good gamble on the Twins part.
  25. Makes you wonder if the Twins put Buxton on waivers if anyone would have claimed him. I almost agree on shutting him down for the rest of this season and 2024 and hope for a good 2025. That's a bleak outlook for sure. I hope the contract is insured.
