  1. I don't view this as a give up game at all. This is the pitching depth you all loved before the year started....I read all over that the AAA roster had better backups. This is what those are for. The only thing I would have done differently is swap Astudillo and Gonzalez. Other than that, I think this is pretty much how any team would have run this stretch.
  2. And it's not close. Wait until next year, when Pineda and Gibson are gone!
  3. Then the idiots signed an old pitcher to an extension! What were the Astros thinking?
  4. This is great. Get fangraphs to buy it from you.
  5. How is that compared to what you expect Stewart or Mejia to do? The only two I wanted were the two best so far. And, neither Stewart or Mejia is a starter in the majors this year, so yes, four new starters. People really want to have one veteran starter next year? Berrios?
  6. Four spots with players not currently pitching in the majors, yes. Berrios and four new players.
  7. It is too bad that a human got hurt. Agreed. I've never claimed every free agent works, just as most minor league players don't. All that financial flexibility means nothing if you won't spend it later, because free agents are too risky. As for the free agents on this roster.... They could have signed some pitching.... And still done what they did.
  8. Good luck with that next year, which was what the post was about. You think four new pitchers are likely to create a good staff? No great team builds only thru the draft or trades.
  9. 109 times out of 100 opportunities.... And I'm leaving that typo in there!
  10. Still no Kirilloff? Or the others? Twins desperately need the pitching to develop this year. Hoping....
  11. I never would have guessed this pitching staff wasn't all that good..... Can't wait for next year when the starters are Berrios and four random guys.
  12. The Twins and other teams decide to do things this way. They could serve quality items, at better prices, if they wanted.......but they don't want to. It's really that simple. They'd rather farm it out to someone else, who cares not one bit about quality or cost....
  13. The bullpen makes me nervous. But I do like wins.
  14. Money and years matter much, much, more. I don't agree with your statement at all that national exposure matters enough to any player that it is as important as money. Not even close. As for the 2nd point, sure, whatever, but that has nothing to do with the Twins' coverage, it's almost every team.
  15. I've never understood why anyone cares if the national media talks about the Twins.
  16. The Phillies went all in this year, attendance is up over ten thousand per game. Maybe the Twins should try that.
  17. couldn't disagree more strongly. the issue is pitching talent. And it isn't close.
  18. I hope they don't wait until September, if he's even close to this good for next two months.
  19. the saunter to third should be embarrassing for the team. Awful. Shifts? Whatever.....if a team thinks they work, they should try it. Though, I get why some don't like it, meh, let them play how they want to play. Frankly? I'd consider having 4 OF more than teams do. Not many ground balls are hit. I'd certainly do it against all or nothing HR swingers. If they try to hit it on the ground, great!
  20. we'll see those too! And, imo, defense that is average.
  21. .300? That seems arbitrary, esp since who cares? I want doubles and HRs and walks......from Sano.
  22. I'll be shocked if he isn't in MN at some point next year, and not surprised if he's in MN this year. Assuming health, of course.
