  1. apparently the players don't want a pitch clock. They might lose money on their glove endorsements, I guess /s
  2. the union has already said it did not agree to the three batter minimum.....but on other things, yes, it's likely a good sign.
  3. Of course, A LOT less players will be called up in September....... but, more than 1 player will get that extra roster spot, due to injuries and shuttling......It is an interesting trade off. IMO, more players get more real time in the majors, but less players get September time. The total number of days in the majors is probably similar, but they are spread among less players (though still more than 1 player per team).
  4. In last week's post? I do.....
  5. Weren't they in the first post?
  6. Service time? He's 25. You don't worry about service time at that age
  7. That post was about the backup to the backup to the backup numbers.......not Buxton....
  8. Interesting, I just added this to my list....
  9. by that logic, every single play is subjective. And no measure will ever be useful to some people then....
  10. Uh, isn't choosing what stats to use "biased" under your terms no matter what you choose (or subjective)? I fail to understand your argument, unless you are arguing you literally can't compare players at all....because that's the logical conclusion of this post.
  11. Pretty convenient injury for the Jays......I'm shocked he'll be in AAA for a few weeks, shocked!
  12. I don't know that they sign him, though I would not be opposed. They have Lanarch and Rooker and Wade and Kiriloff, and that's just the ones I think about, there are more. At some point, they'll need to rely on the cheaper options those guys offer, so I'm not sure what they are going to do. If the relationship with Buxton is really broken, I expect he's traded after he has a monster season this year (and we all complain he was traded), Kepler moves to CF, Kiriloff or Lanarch in RF, and Eddie or someone else in LF.....
  13. statcast is that better eye...... It's a boring argument, chief and others have decided they don't trust defensive stats, and no one is going to change his mind. I guess it's possible others will read this thread, and change their mind.....so it isn't worthless overall, but no one is changing chief's mind.
  14. JC: Kimbrel would have a team by now if his agent wasn’t trying to convince teams his 2018 & 2016 didn’t exist & price accordingly Keith Law: Agreed. Also, the last time we saw the guy pitch he couldn’t throw a strike, and his manager used a starter to close out the last game.
  15. I still can't decide what's worse, a cat in the house, or a mouse...... But any plan that sends the cat away sounds like a good plan...... That was the point, right?
  16. I don't think anyone is arguing otherwise. Clearly defensive measures will always be behind offensive ones......
  17. Gordon is 22 and played in AAA last year........I'm willing to give him more time to show what he is, or is not, still..... Lewis is the SS by 2021, I'd guess. Polanco or someone else is at 2B at that point. As for why they let Polanco play SS last year, and not Adrianza.....maybe they were actually investing playing time in the future! It is a nice fantasy of mine that bad teams do that......
  18. I don't think "sadly" means what you think it means......
  19. Sometimes covers are better......
  20. In no way am I arguing Fangraphs' stats are perfect, but to say they are bunk and useless and not any good at all? Seems like teams wouldn't be hiring them then....
  21. "Dan Szymborski: It’s not like I haven’t talked with teams about things, I’ve done something that involved me getting paid for nearly half the teams in baseball (and almost as many agencies)"
