  1. We all would, but the data tells us that a hard hit ball is more likely to be a hit.....If you want to know what is likely to happen in the future (say, if you ran a team), you'd want the data that tells you what is likely to happen in the future, not the luck that happened in the past.
  2. If hitters could control where the ball went, their batting average would be ridiculously higher. I really don't think it is as easy as you think. As a matter of fact, I'll bet you anything that if we ask players, coaches, and analysts, they'll back me up. Maybe you can try to hit it to right, but to hit it to right and not at the fielder, or where the fielder can catch it? No way.
  3. I think a lot of people assumed this FO would be good at the pitching side of things, with no evidence that they would be good or bad......but this year sure makes me worried. By the end of this year, we should have some idea if they can develop pitching, hopefully they'll show a willingness to add good starters in a year they think they'll compete (unlike this year, when they added two number 8 pitchers).
  4. Fangraphs has an excellent article on their predicament.....
  5. Shouldn't the fans do that? Shouldn't they not give them money for a terrible product?
  6. If you want those pitchers to contribute early in Minnesota next year, they should be in Minnesota part of this year.
  7. and, because I saw this elsewhere on Fangraphs (maybe I should resurrect my "elsewhere on the web" thread").... rossredcay Any thoughts on Jhoan Duran? He would seem to fit into this bucket as well and his stuff looks insane so far in his couple starts post injury. Kevin Goldstein Stuff looks really good, and he was definitely a candidate for the piece, as were about 20 others.
  8. Here is what Fangraphs had to say about Barnes start: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/daily-prospect-notes-6-3-21/
  9. If none of them are going to be good next year....why do we care if Pineda is here? They showed this year they wouldn't sign legit starting pitchers in a year they were supposed to contend.....what are you expecting next year from the starters?
  10. yes, I totally said call him before they think he is ready.....
  11. He could be up next year as a CF. Almost no chance as a SS. But I guess we can wait two more years to see him.
  12. Traded. Though after I posted that, I began to have doubts..... I'd trade for a shortstop, and move Lewis to center. But I don't know they trade Berrios and Buxton both....
  13. This year: Buxton then Celestino for most games Next year: Celestino then Royce Lewis for most games After that....Royce Lewis
  14. As am I.....Not sure they've developed a fielder that can field either.....but then, if you keep drafting corner OF in round 1 or 1a....
  15. One of the reasons they do is they trade their vets....
  16. Let him know. Up to him if he comes back. I wouldn't mind a signing.... But it's not what Tampa would do
  17. Trade him. Let him know you will try to re-sign him in the off season first.
  18. I 100% expect next year to be different, yes. If managers had the massive effect on winning that people seem to think they do, they'd be paid like players.....
  19. Did Nick Gordon kill someone's dog? They need to play him if he's up.
  20. I was never a fan of the pick. Not much defense, and older. I keep hoping to be wrong.
  21. Sano Donaldson Buxton .... Going to miss at least a third of the year.... Cruz Kepler
