    I felt the deadline overall was good for fans around MLB in general. The trend seemed to be for more teams to sell their seasons short, but that didn’t happen this year. The Twins got some needed bullpen help, but it still feels like they could have done more. I argued for a long time they should trade Nick Gordon for pitching. I’ve been arguing they should trade one of Larnach/Kirilloff/Rooker. I don’t know what they have planned for those three guys together.

    Miami is hosting their final game in the series against the D-Backs tonight—so he might even get to meet Eduardo Escobar today! Rumor has it that the Twins players have something up their sleeves* for Escobar... * heard something about it on the radio broadcast yesterday

    Sounds like a logical possibility that one of the recent Miami draftees might be on the Twins radar.

    If the sides cannot agree on a player, then cash is sent in lieu of the player. I don’t know if that is still the rule, or how often that happens. Or maybe it’s just a favor returned of some other sort. Anyway, that would leave it at just the one minor leaguer, not 2 Minor Leaguers. Two sounds twice as good as one, I suppose.

    I think there’s a distinction between two minor leaguers, and a minor leaguer plus a PTBNL. The PTBNL doesn’t always result in a player? It’s a minor point.

    Honest question. Do they make Romo fly up to Chicago tonight, then fly right back to Miami with the team tomorrow night? Probably, but teams often let starting pitchers fly ahead of the team by a night, and our bullpen is fairly rested. Maybe they let Romo meet the team in Miami.

    Go online (if you aren’t online already) and watch some of his post game interviews with the Cardinals.... eventually you might conclude: “no thanks.” He’s doing well in Texas. He doesn’t seem like a guy who would want to be disturbed and uprooted from a good situation he’s got going.

    I agree more with the first half of your comment. I’m sure there are pitchers out there this deadline with unseen value, beyond the big names. But even those might cost more than a lot of posters here are comfortable.

    I think I agree with you and I think I was overstating my case. Maybe I should say make a bet on two of them for the future, and trade one of them here at the deadline.

    Come August 1st, I think at least one of Kirilloff, Larnach, or Rooker is in another organization. It’s possible all three are best suited to left field, and they all can’t play there at the same time. I personally think the FO should make a bet on one, and trade the other two.

    A solo homer in the first inning of a scoreless game is not high leverage. Last inning, bases loaded, tying run on third, is a situation quite a bit more critical. But I get what you’re saying.

    I can’t blame Arraez getting picked off in the fifth inning. It happens. Maybe it shouldn’t, but it does. It was looking like a wild pitch—the ball actually got past the catcher—but then took a funny hop off the umpire and stayed near the plate. Arraez was kind of hung out to dry.. and then maybe tried to do a little acting to save face? Also Cave needs to do two things: not step out of the batters box when offering at the pitch, and then just let the pitch hit your leg. These things are going to happen to all teams.
